The 28-Day Nervous System Reset

Glenn Ostlund

Created by Glenn Ostlund, MA, MS, LAC—a licensed therapist in Arizona—this guided meditation series is designed to support clients between therapy sessions using evidence-based mindfulness techniques and binaural audio beats. Binaural beats are subtle, rhythmic sound frequencies that guide your brain into restorative states like alpha and theta. Research shows they can reduce anxiety, improve focus, and help shift the nervous system out of chronic stress. This “reset” happens as your brain learns to relax, regulate, and respond differently over time. Think of it as integration and balance, rather than deleting and restarting. To receive the full benefit, headphones or earbuds are required. These sessions are gentle but powerful—a daily practice to help you slow down, reconnect with yourself, and prepare for deeper therapeutic work. Whether you're a client of Glenn's or simply looking for support, you're welcome here. Let this be your daily reset. Day 111 - X-Minus One: Universe

Universe6 Hz Theta Binaural Meditation Originally broadcast on May 15, 1955, Universe was the fourth regular episode of NBC's acclaimed science fiction series X Minus One. Adapted from Robert A. Heinlein's classic story Universe, it tells of a generation ship whose inhabitants have lived aboard for so many centuries that they have forgotten they are traveling through space. To them, the ship is the entire universe, and questioning that belief is considered dangerous heresy. Produced during the dawn of the Space Age, X Minus One brought some of the greatest science fiction writers of the twentieth century to radio audiences. At a time when Americans were dreaming of reaching the stars, stories like Universeexplored not only the possibilities of space travel, but also the human tendency to mistake inherited beliefs for absolute truth. Heinlein's tale remains one of science fiction's most influential explorations of curiosity, tradition, and awakening. This presentation combines the original radio drama with a continuous 6 Hz theta binaural beat, creating an immersive listening experience designed to encourage deep relaxation, reflective awareness, and imaginative exploration. As the story unfolds, notice how assumptions shape perception, and consider what new horizons become possible when curiosity gently replaces certainty. This episode is part of the 28-Day Nervous System Reset series, inviting you to calm your nervous system while rediscovering one of the most thought-provoking stories from the Golden Age of radio science fiction. Day 108 - X-Minus One: Mars is Heaven

Mars Is Heaven Originally broadcast on May 8, 1955, Mars Is Heaven was the third regular episode of NBC's acclaimed science fiction series X Minus One. Adapted from Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles, the story follows an expedition to Mars that discovers a quiet Midwestern town where deceased family members appear to have returned to welcome them home. As wonder gives way to suspicion, the astronauts must decide whether they've found paradise—or something far more dangerous. Produced during the early years of the Cold War and on the eve of the Space Age, X Minus One reflected a generation captivated by the promise of space exploration while wrestling with deeper questions about memory, loss, longing, and what it means to be human. Bradbury's stories remain timeless because they explore the landscapes of the heart as much as the landscapes of distant planets. This presentation pairs the original radio drama with a continuous 6 Hz theta binaural beat, creating an immersive listening experience designed to encourage deep relaxation, vivid imagination, and reflective awareness. As the story unfolds, allow yourself to drift into its dreamlike atmosphere, noticing how memory, hope, and perception shape the worlds we inhabit—both within and beyond ourselves. This episode is part of the 28-Day Nervous System Reset series, inviting you to settle your nervous system while rediscovering one of the most haunting and beloved stories from the Golden Age of radio science fiction. Headphones are required to experience the full binaural effect. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

    Day 107 - X-Minus One: No Contact

No Contact6 Hz Theta Binaural Meditation Originally broadcast on April 24, 1955, No Contact was the premiere episode of NBC's groundbreaking science fiction series X Minus One. Written specifically for radio by George Lefferts, the story follows an Earth spaceship that repeatedly collides with an invisible barrier in deep space. As the crew struggles to understand the mysterious obstacle, they are forced to question whether the greatest barriers in the universe are physical—or born from assumptions, fear, and limited perception. Premiering during the early years of the Cold War and just before the dawn of the Space Age, X Minus One captured the optimism and uncertainty of an era fascinated by rockets, atomic science, and the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth. Rather than relying solely on action, the series became known for exploring philosophical questions about humanity, communication, and the unknown. This presentation layers the original radio drama with a continuous 6 Hz theta binaural beat, creating an immersive listening experience designed to encourage deep relaxation, imaginative exploration, and reflective awareness. As the mystery unfolds, allow your attention to soften, your breathing to deepen, and your mind to wander alongside the crew into the vast silence between the stars. This episode is part of the 28-Day Nervous System Reset series, inviting you to calm your nervous system while rediscovering one of radio's greatest science fiction classics. Headphones are required to experience the full binaural effect. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
