25: Male Privilege - Beauty Standards, the Pink Tax & Workplace Bias

What does male privilege look like in everyday life? Sometimes it’s as obvious as being taken more seriously at work. Other times, it’s as ordinary as getting ready in the morning — or buying a car. This week on Outside the Manosphere, Skip and Carlos return to the Male Privilege Checklist to unpack three ways gender can shape everyday experiences: The grooming gap: Why can men roll out of bed and get on with their day while women face far more pressure to look polished? The car-buying double standard: Are women more likely to get a worse deal when buying a car? The motherhood penalty: Why might a woman’s potential plans to have children affect her chances of getting hired, while men rarely have to worry about the same assumptions? Plus, the news takes us from Alberta’s separatism referendum to concerns about election monitoring in the US, Trump’s apparent delight in charging people a fortune for a burger, and the fallout from the war in Ukraine. The guys also debate student protests in France and ask why society so often seems more interested in protecting businesses than the people they’re supposed to serve. And, of course, we wrap up with our weekly joys. Got a green flag or a little joy to share? Send it to outsidethemanosphere@gmail.com, find us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and join us as we explore masculinity, manosphere culture, and a more human way forward. 24: Sociopaths, Psychopaths, and the Illusion of Caring

This week, Skip and Carlos dig into antisocial personality disorder, sociopathy, and psychopathy. What’s the difference between someone who acts on impulse and someone who knows exactly how to manipulate the people around them? The guys explore the warning signs, the role of trauma, and why charm can make controlling behavior so difficult to recognize. Most importantly, they unpack how isolation, financial abuse, and the slow creep of control can trap people in unhealthy relationships. When someone says they care about you, how do you know it’s really about you—and not about owning you? Also this week: white supremacy makes an appearance in Canada, immigration arguments get a closer look, and the FBI’s ongoing clown show raises some rather less funny questions about who’s in charge. The guys debate whether empathy and conscience can coexist with deeply harmful behavior, take a detour through The Jinx, and consider the difference between genuinely caring for someone and simply not wanting to lose their favorite possession. Plus, enthusiastic consent, the underrated green flag of active listening, a little generational sex education, the joys of making sushi with your kid, connecting with younger colleagues, and a reminder that sometimes the healthiest thing a man can do is actually listen to another human being. 23: Bonding Over Humiliation - Consent, Cornell, and the Manosphere

This week Skip and Carlos take on consent, which has been a hot-button issue in the media for the past month. Drawing on the Cornell 7 case, the New York Times’ The Daily, and the Unmanned Substack, they dig into what it means when men bond over women’s humiliation. They also cover how alcohol and drugs affect a person’s ability to consent, why so few rapes end in conviction, and how the manosphere ties into all of it. The guys also talk about how to raise boys who see women as full human beings, and about the simple rule they both want to see taught: if they say no, you stop. But first, the news: a heartwarming round of positive cat calls, a delightful forager, Alberta’s upcoming referendum on leaving Canada, and a chat about absentee ballots and Friday’s Prague election (yes, there’s an anarchist on the ballot). Plus, this week’s joys: a niece with perfect instincts, the PBS documentary Nazi Town USA, and a visit from the grandparents. 22: Hey Claude, what is P-Doom?

This week on Outside the Manosphere, the guys dive headfirst into the weirdest part of the future: AI. Is it thinking? Is it manipulating us? Is it trying to escape? Is it just really, really good at following instructions in ways nobody anticipated? Skip and Carlos discuss AI actors glitching into Cantonese, the paperclip problem, rogue AI agents, AI deception, and the increasingly uncomfortable question of whether we’re smart enough to build the guardrails before things get out of hand. And one of the guys comes out to as AI...pro-life? Also, the guys debate whether there should be limits on aging politicians, Carlos rescues a doomed seagull, Skip watches his kid compete at nationals, and both continue to rave about Lanterns. Plus, fire pits, fireflies, Green Day, and joy.
