The Story Pastor David Goodwin Almost Never Told | Part 2

For 34 years, Pastor David Goodwin believed his biological father was dead. Then, at 47 years old, he received a DNA notification that would change everything he thought he knew about his life. “100% confirmation. Parent-child DNA match. Father and son.” And that was only one chapter of a testimony filled with heartbreak, unexpected miracles, impossible circumstances, and the faithfulness of God. After the incredible response to Part 1, Pastor David Goodwin returns to The Babbler to finish sharing the testimony that has already encouraged so many people. In Part 1, David shared how he survived a difficult birth, grew up in poverty and rejection, learned at age 13 that the man raising him wasn't his biological father, and received the Holy Ghost despite opposition at home. But the story was far from over. In Part 2, Pastor Goodwin opens up about: Following God's calling despite years of hardship, rejection, and uncertainty. Finding his wife, Shannon, and facing homelessness, unemployment, and financial struggles early in their marriage. A ten-year process of preparation before entering the ministry. How his son's difficult birth became a turning point in his mother's relationship with God. Following God's direction to plant Grace Point Church in Hoover, Alabama, even when almost nobody showed up. The incredible journey from a struggling church plant to a growing, multicultural Apostolic congregation. Discovering that the father he believed had died in Vietnam was actually alive, and meeting him for the first time after 47 years. Through every disappointment, closed door, and unexpected turn, David shares one consistent truth: God was there, even when he couldn't see what God was doing. What looked like rejection became preparation. What seemed hopeless became an opportunity for God to work. And what David thought was a relationship forever lost was eventually restored. This powerful Christian testimony is a reminder that God is still writing your story. Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Your circumstances may not make sense today, but that doesn't mean God is finished. The pen is still in His hand. ▶️ WATCH PART 1: [Insert Part 1 YouTube link] 🔗 CONNECT WITH THE BABBLER: https://linktr.ee/TheBabbler If Pastor Goodwin's testimony has encouraged you, share this episode with someone who needs hope, restoration, or a reminder of God's faithfulness. The Story Pastor David Goodwin Almost Never Told | Part 1

What happens when a 13-year-old boy finds out the man he thought was his father is not actually his dad, receives the Holy Ghost just months later, and then is told he may not be welcome back home? This is Part 1 of Pastor David Goodwin’s incredible testimony. Today on The Babbler, Pastor David Goodwin of Grace Point Church in Hoover, Alabama shares the story behind the man, pastor, father, and family nurse practitioner people know today. Long before he was pastoring a church, his story began with doctors telling his mother there was no heartbeat. She refused to believe that was the end. A heartbeat was eventually found, and David was born prematurely in 1974 despite serious concerns about whether he would survive and what condition he would be in. But that was only the beginning. David opens up about growing up in deep poverty, being bullied, living in a turbulent home, and never understanding why the man he believed was his father treated him differently. Then, at 13 years old, everything changed. He was told: “I’m not your dad.” Suddenly, years of confusion began to make sense. But only months later, another turning point would change the direction of his entire life. David began attending an Apostolic Pentecostal church, heard the Word of God, experienced the presence of God, and on December 20, 1987, received the Holy Ghost. Then he called his mother to tell her what happened. Her response changed everything again. This is a story about brokenness, identity, fatherlessness, poverty, Pentecostal conversion, the Holy Ghost, grace, and the providence of God. It is also a reminder of the truth found in Romans 8:28: God can take circumstances that seem broken, hopeless, or even dead and work them together for His purpose. Sometimes what looks like the end of the story is only the end of a chapter. The pen is still in His hand. Why Church? ⛪️ | The Reason For YOUR Local Assembly

Do you really need to go to church? Can you follow Jesus without being part of a local church? And is church attendance actually biblical, or is it just an old religious tradition? In this episode of The Babbler, Marshall Wall takes on the question: Why church? In a culture where church attendance is increasingly questioned, criticized, and dismissed as unnecessary, it's worth stepping back from tradition, opinions, and personal preference and asking a simple question: What does the Bible say? Hebrews 10:25 tells believers not to forsake the assembling of themselves together, but the importance of the local church goes far beyond simply showing up for a service. The local church provides community, encouragement, accountability, spiritual leadership, united vision, worship, prayer, opportunities to serve, and people who can help us keep moving toward God. You can listen to a sermon online. You can worship God at home. You can study your Bible by yourself. But there is something different about standing shoulder-to-shoulder with other believers, praying together, worshiping together, serving together, and having people close enough to your life to encourage you when you're struggling. In this episode, we explore: • Why the local church still matters • What Hebrews 10:24-25 actually teaches about assembling together • Why Christianity was never designed to be lived completely alone • The importance of community and fellowship • Why accountability matters • How a local church can provide spiritual encouragement • The power of praying together in one accord • Why church services are more than just a weekly event • How worship connects us with the biblical picture of heaven • Why online church can be valuable but cannot completely replace physical fellowship • The difference between biblical principles and church traditions • Why traditions should never be elevated to the level of Scripture • Why there is no such thing as a perfect church • Why you should find a church where you can grow, serve, and become involved • The power of unity when believers join together for a common purpose Church isn't about finding a perfect group of people. There aren't any. It's about finding a body of believers who will encourage you, challenge you, pray with you, worship with you, serve with you, and help you get closer to Jesus Christ. And if you've been disconnected from church, burned out, disappointed by people, or convinced that you can do Christianity by yourself, this episode is an invitation to reconsider. Don't just watch church. Find a church. Get involved. Serve. Build relationships. Pray with people. Worship with people. Encourage somebody. Let somebody encourage you. Are You Sick Of The Palsy? 😫

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Do you feel stuck in a rut and like you can't get out? Maybe it's time to tear the roof off. In this episode of The Babbler, Marshall Wall takes a fresh look at one of the most powerful stories in the Gospel of Mark: the man who was “sick of the palsy” and the four friends who refused to let anything stop them from getting him to Jesus. But what if “sick of the palsy” isn't just a description of the man's physical condition? What if there's a lesson for anyone who has become sick of their own condition? Maybe you've become complacent. Maybe your prayer life has gone dry. Maybe you've lost your hunger for the Word of God. Maybe you're burned out, discouraged, stuck in unhealthy patterns, struggling in your marriage, frustrated with your business, or simply tired of living the same way you've always lived. You don't have to stay that way. Mark 2 shows us a man who couldn't get to Jesus on his own. But he had four friends who were willing to press through the crowd, tear apart the roof, and do whatever it took to get him into the presence of Jesus. Sometimes change requires intentionality. Sometimes you have to change your routine. Sometimes you have to press through an obstacle. Sometimes you need the right people around you. And sometimes you simply have to make up your mind: “I am not going to remain the same.” This episode explores: • The story of the man “sick of the palsy” in Mark 2 • What it means to become sick of your own condition • How spiritual complacency can creep into our lives • What to do when prayer becomes dry or stale • Practical ways to reignite your prayer life • Why repeating the same patterns produces the same results • The importance of intentionality in your spiritual life and everyday life • Why the people around you matter • What we can learn from the four friends who carried the man to Jesus • Why obstacles shouldn't stop us from pursuing God • The connection between determination, faith, grace, healing, and forgiveness • Why sometimes we need to tear the roof off The answer isn't always to wait until something changes. Sometimes you need to do something different. If your relationship with God has become stagnant, do something about it. If you've become complacent, do something about it. If your marriage has gone stale, invest in it. If your prayer life has become routine, shake it up. If you're heading in the wrong direction, don't wait years to turn around. Get sick of the palsy. Tear the roof off. Press through the crowd. Get to Jesus. And remember, our effort isn't what earns God's favor. We don't manipulate God into blessing us through religious activity. The man ultimately received healing and forgiveness because he encountered a loving and gracious Savior. You may feel stuck today, but you don't have to stay there. Something can change. And you can start today. 👉 Connect with The Babbler: https://linktr.ee/TheBabbler Scripture: Mark 2:1-12 #TheBabbler #Mark2 #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #Jesus #ChristianEncouragement #SpiritualGrowth #Prayer #Faith #Apostolic #OnenessPentecostal #JesusName #HolyGhost #Bible #ChristianLiving #Evangelism #Revival #Breakthrough #FaithInGod

    The Warning in Psalm 23 | While You're Walking He's Preparing 🍽️

Psalm 23 is one of the most comforting passages in the Bible. But what if we’ve been missing the challenge hidden inside it? In this short episode of The Babbler, Marshall Wall takes a deeper look at Psalm 23 and explores what David really means when he says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” Psalm 23 isn't just a promise that God will make our problems disappear. It's also an instruction: keep walking. Even in the darkest valley, God is with us. His rod and His staff comfort us, guide us, and sometimes correct us. And when we reach the table He has prepared, we discover something surprising: the table is prepared “in the presence of mine enemies.” The blessing doesn't mean there will be no opposition. The promise isn't that there won't be a valley. The encouragement is that God is with you while you walk through it. Maybe you're hurting. Maybe you've spent countless nights crying. Maybe you're fighting the same sin over and over. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, rejection, loneliness, disappointment, or a trial that seems like it will never end. Don't stop walking. God is preparing something while you're walking. In this episode, we explore: • The deeper meaning of Psalm 23 • Why the valley is part of the journey • Why God doesn't always remove our problems immediately • What David means by “thy rod and thy staff” • Why God's correction can actually be a source of comfort • What it means for God to prepare a table “in the presence of mine enemies” • Why blessings don't always come without opposition • The connection between trials, faith, and spiritual growth • Why we need to keep walking when we can't see the other side • The promise of God's goodness and mercy The enemy may be present. The valley may be dark. The road may be difficult. But the Shepherd is still with you, and the table is still being prepared. Don't give up in the valley. Keep walking. Psalm 23:4-6 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me...” If this episode encourages you, share it with someone who may be walking through a dark season right now. 👉 Connect with The Babbler: https://linktr.ee/TheBabbler #TheBabbler #Psalm23 #BibleStudy #ChristianPodcast #ChristianEncouragement #GodIsWithYou #Faith #TrustGod #Trials #ChristianLiving #Bible #Prayer #Apostolic #OnenessPentecostal #JesusChrist #SpiritualGrowth #KeepWalking #Revival

    Simplicity In Christ

Are we making Christianity more complicated than it needs to be? In this episode of The Babbler, Marshall Wall talks about the danger of allowing philosophy, human tradition, personal opinions, church programs, and worldly ideas to distract us from the simplicity that is found in Jesus Christ. Paul warned the church in Colossians 2:8 to beware lest anyone “spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit” and lead you away from Christ. The answer isn't another program, another clever idea, or another religious tradition. The answer is Jesus. 👉 Connect with The Babbler: https://linktr.ee/TheBabbler This episode challenges Christians, ministers, Bible teachers, and anyone seeking to grow in their relationship with God to get back to the Word of God and keep Jesus Christ at the center. Preach Jesus. Preach the Gospel. Preach the death, burial, and resurrection. Church programs can be valuable. Outreach programs can be useful. Commentaries and study resources can help us grow. But none of those things can save us. They are vehicles and tools. Jesus Christ is the Savior. In this episode, we explore: • The meaning of Paul's warning in Colossians 2:8 • Why philosophy and human tradition can pull us away from Christ • Why everything we teach must remain anchored in Scripture • The danger of inserting personal opinions into biblical teaching • Why ministers should preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified • Why church programs are tools, not the Gospel itself • Why we don't need to reinvent the message of Scripture • The simplicity and fullness that are found in Jesus Christ • Why our calling is to be witnesses of Jesus, not ourselves • The death, burial, resurrection, and Gospel of Jesus Christ • Why we need to be complete in Christ The Christian message doesn't need to be reinvented. We are sinners. Jesus Christ came in the flesh. He lived a perfect life. He died for our sins. He was buried. He rose again. He conquered death, hell, and the grave. And He has called us to be His witnesses. There is a simplicity in Christ. Don't let anything distract you from it. “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him.” Colossians 2:9-10 Get in the Word. Keep Jesus at the center. And preach Jesus. #TheBabbler #JesusChrist #ChristianPodcast #BibleStudy #Gospel #PreachJesus #Colossians2 #Apostolic #OnenessPentecostal #JesusName #HolyGhost #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTruth #Evangelism #Church #Revival #WordOfGod #Christianity

What Is The Name? | NLE Choppa's Baptism

NLE Choppa was recently baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and it raises an important question: What does the Bible actually teach about baptism? In this episode of The Babbler, Marshall Wall discusses NLE Choppa's baptism and uses the conversation as an opportunity to examine what Scripture says about the name used in Christian baptism. Rather than speculating about NLE Choppa's heart, motives, or eternal destiny, this episode focuses on the Bible itself. What did the apostles preach? How were people baptized in the Book of Acts? What did Jesus mean when He commanded His disciples to baptize in the singular name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? Throughout the Book of Acts, we repeatedly find people being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ: • Acts 2:38 • Acts 8:16 • Acts 10:48 • Acts 19:5 • Acts 22:16 The episode also explores Acts 4:12, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 2:9, and 1 Timothy 3:16, examining the biblical claim that Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh and that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him. This isn't about taking the word of a preacher, denomination, YouTuber, or religious tradition. Open the Bible. Search the Scriptures. See what the Word actually says. If you've ever wondered: Why do some Christians baptize in Jesus' name? What is the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? Why did the apostles baptize in Jesus' name? Is Jesus truly God manifest in flesh? What does the Bible say about the plan of salvation? This episode is for you. And if you have never been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, or you believe in Jesus-name baptism but aren't sure how to explain it to someone else, Marshall invites you to reach out and start the conversation. The question isn't simply what tradition teaches. The question is: What does the Bible say?
