Thoughts on American Football in 2026 & a Wild Week in Music News (Title Fight, Jack White & Jay-Z included)

It’s been an extremely busy week in the music world. Jay-Z did a historic (and at times turbulent) three-night Yankee Stadium run to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint with tons of guests (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nas, Eminem, Clipse, Slick Rick, Alicia Keys and many more included); Charli XCX took the opposite approach with an extremely intimate show at the soon-to-close Music Hall of Williamsburg, also with guests (Clairo, Kim Petras, and her upcoming tourmate underscores); Phoebe Bridgers did two surprise televised performances; Napalm Death played Tiny Desk; two already-famous non-metal people gave us some unexpected metal news, and Mastodon gave us some we expected; Queens of the Stone age released a track, which was 1 of 2 new Josh Homme collabs with a country singer (and not his new collab with Mastodon), and a grunge song by Dexter and the Moonrocks made its way into the Top 40; and more. Dave and Andrew talk about all that, the Charley Crockett / Jack Wife beef, the Title Fight sort-of-reunion, new Fiona Apple, Lily Seabird, The Menzingers, Quicksand, Steve Lacy, Fuming Mouth and more on the new episode of BV Weekly, an episode that is actually primarily about American Football, who Dave recently caught at Brooklyn Paramount.   BV Weekly is brought to you by the long-running music publication BrooklynVegan, created and hosted by BrooklynVegan founder Dave Levine and BV senior editor Andrew Sacher.  --- Email bvweekly@gmail.com with any feedback or questions!
