A Great Reset

Jonah 3: A Great Reset | Jonah 3 | Pastor John Adams Ever wish you could start over after getting it wrong? In Jonah 3, the word of the LORD comes to Jonah a second time, and when he finally delivers God's warning, an entire city turns from its evil ways. It's a picture of a God who gives second chances and shows mercy to people who turn back to him. This message is part of our Counseling Jonah series, preached by Pastor John Adams at Simpsonville Baptist Church on October 18, 2026. A Cry from the Depths

What do you do when you’ve hit rock bottom? In Jonah 2, a runaway prophet cries out from the belly of the fish and finds that God still hears, still answers, and still delivers. Pastor Brett Martin shows us how to lament: how to bring our pain to God instead of running from Him. As Mark Vroegop puts it, “To cry is human, but to lament is Christian.” In this message we look at how distress feels, what God is doing in the middle of it, and how we lament well. We turn to God instead of our idols, bring Him our honest complaint, ask boldly for help, and give thanks even before the rescue is finished. Because “Salvation belongs to the LORD!” (Jonah 2:9, ESV) This message is part of our [SERIES NAME] series through the book of Jonah, preached at Simpsonville Baptist Church on October 11, 2026. 📖 Scripture: Jonah 2:1–10 | Psalm 139:7–12 | Revelation 1:17–18 (ESV) ⏱️ Chapters 0:00 Welcome & Serve Weekend Recap 0:58 To Cry Is Human, to Lament Is Christian 3:40 Scripture Reading: Jonah 2 5:10 Running from God Is a Staircase Down 7:25 How Distress Feels 10:55 What Is Sheol? 13:00 When You Feel Like You’re Going Under 14:20 What God Is Doing in Our Distress 15:10 The God Who Heals Is the God Who Cuts 16:40 Not Every Storm Is a Lesson 18:20 God Listens, Answers, and Delivers 19:05 Psalm 139: Even the Darkness Is Not Dark to You 20:25 Pastor Brett’s Story: “I’m Done” 22:15 How We Lament: Turn to God, Not Idols 24:20 Bring Your Complaint to God 26:05 Better to Shake Your Fist Than Run Away 27:15 Ask Boldly for Help 28:05 Give Thanks Before the Rescue Is Finished 28:45 Jesus Holds the Keys (Revelation 1) 29:35 Response & Prayer 👋 New here?
