You Love Jesus, But Life Still Hurts: How to Find Healing

What do you do when you love Jesus, know the truth, and have experienced healing, but realize there are still places in your heart that hurt? In this solo episode of Learning to Love Well, Brittany shares honestly about where she’s been lately: recognizing that some pain from past seasons has begun spilling into the season she’s in now. Sometimes we can know all the “right” things to do. We can love Jesus, know Scripture, understand the importance of guarding our hearts, and still find ourselves carrying hurt, anger, disappointment, or pain that needs to be tended to. We live in a broken world, and following Jesus doesn’t mean we’ll never get hurt again. Healing isn’t always a one-time moment. Sometimes Jesus invites us to surrender again… to stop avoiding what hurts, walk through the pain with Him, and lay down what we were never meant to carry into the next season. Inspired by watching longtime friends courageously walk through their own healing, Brittany shares why facing the hard places is worth it… not only for the freedom on the other side, but for who we become in the process. If you’ve been wondering why life still feels hard, recognizing old pain showing up in new places, or sensing that Jesus may be inviting you into a deeper place of healing and surrender, this conversation is for you. You don’t have to be afraid of what’s underneath the pain. Jesus will meet you there. And there is freedom on the other side.

What If You’re Tired of Waiting for God to Bring You a Spouse?

What happens when you’ve prayed for marriage, stayed open, experienced disappointment, and you’re just… tired of waiting? In this conversation, my friend Kaylani and I talk honestly about singleness, dating, rejection, disappointment, and the very real desire to be chosen. For years, marriage felt connected to worth for Kaylani. Like being chosen by someone would finally remove the feeling of rejection. But God began showing her something different: her life wasn’t waiting to begin. We talk about learning to live fully now, while still honoring the very real desire for marriage. Because you don’t have to pretend you don’t want a spouse in order to be grateful for the life God has given you today. Kaylani shares about dating disappointments, opening her heart again, letting God into the places that hurt, and the Target parking lot moment that completely shifted the way she saw her singleness. We also talk about the realization: “I’m not living my single life. I’m living my life.” And maybe one of my favorite shifts of the whole conversation: you’re not simply waiting around hoping someone chooses you. You get to choose, too. If you’ve been asking God, When is it going to be my turn? Have You forgotten me? Is something wrong with me? I hope this conversation reminds you that your relationship status is not evidence of your worth, and this season is not a pause before your real life begins. You can desire marriage deeply and still live a full, meaningful, surrendered life with God right now. 💛 If this episode encouraged you, send it to someone who might need this reminder.
