I Will Build My Church: Have We Misunderstood What Jesus Meant? ft. Ps Rees Yakung

Send us Fan Mail I Will Build My Church: Have We Misunderstood What Jesus Meant? In Matthew 16:18, Jesus made a powerful declaration: “I will build my church.” But what exactly did He mean by church? In this conversation with Ps. Rees Yakung, we reflect on his teaching around this passage and explore how the Church, particularly within the African context, may have interpreted church in ways that sometimes fall short of the impact Jesus intended. We discuss the difference between building institutions and Christ building a people, the role of the Holy Spirit, our relationships with one another, and what it could look like for the Church to return to the original picture Jesus gave us. A conversation about moving beyond simply having church to truly becoming the Church Christ is building.
