Episode 1: In The Beginning, There Was Noise

Welcome to the very first episode of Echoes of the Axe. Host Paresh Garude a bassist of the Indian metal underground sets the stage for a podcast that’s as much about music as it is about memory, rebellion, and connection. In this opening chapter, Paresh takes us through the grit and glory of growing up with metal in India. Jam rooms with rusted amps, underground gigs where the crowd knew every riff, and the slow rise of a scene that refused to be ignored. But this isn’t just a local story, it’s global. Because the noise doesn’t stop at borders. This episode lays down the foundation of what Echoes of the Axe stands for, a tribute to the people who keep metal alive from the basements of Bangalore to the frostbitten clubs of Oslo. From DIY webzines and obscure EPs to bands that never charted but changed lives, this is the sound of resistance and identity. If metal ever meant more to you than just music, if it saved you, shaped you, or made you feel seen this is your story too.
