How This Physician is Improving End Of Life Care | Bob Uslander, MD

Many visionaries do not start by becoming entrepreneurs. They start by noticing a gap that becomes impossible to ignore. After years in emergency medicine, Dr. Bob Uslander reached a point where he could no longer ignore what he was seeing. Like many clinicians, he had the skills, expertise, and lived experience to recognize where the system was falling short, especially in how we approach serious illness and end-of-life care. His transition did not begin with a business plan. It began with exposure. While working within palliative care, he witnessed something both beautiful and heartbreaking. Deeply compassionate healthcare professionals were operating inside a system that often does not allow enough time, clarity, or support for patients and families during life’s most critical moments. That realization became the foundation for his next chapter. Today, through Empowered Palliative Care, Dr. Bob Uslander is helping patients and families navigate serious illness and end-of-life planning with more clarity, dignity, and agency. His work provides practical guidance for advanced care planning, while also creating space for emotional, spiritual, and human-centered support that is often missing in traditional medical settings. More than anything, he is helping people advocate for themselves and their loved ones in a system that can feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate alone. This episode is about what it really looks like to leave a defined medical identity, step into uncertainty, and build something new from what you can no longer unsee. Tune in to hear his journey and how he is helping reshape the way we think about care at the end of life. - - - Connect with Dr. Bob Uslander LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bobuslander/ Website: https://empoweredendings.com - - - Connect with Bianca Ariel, MBA LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/biancaarielmba/ Website: http://recalibratedvision.com - - - Disclaimer: This content is created for entertainment purposes only and should not be considered professional advice. Psychiatrist Talks The Importance of Finding Your Joy | Nina Joy Mena, MD

In this conversation, I had the pleasure to chat with Dr. NJoy, a board-certified psychiatrist and author. Along this journey from career to calling, we may encounter so many different emotions and may even question whether or not this is worth it. The key is not to avoid what it is we are feeling but to choose joy regardless of the experience. That's because joy is not a feeling it is a choice and it allows us to fully accept and embrace this experience no matter the circumstance. Choosing joy is ultimately what brings fulfillment and it's so important that we work the muscle in choosing it for ourselves each day. Dr. NJoy also describes her own journey to joy and what triggered her path to enlightment. During the work that I do with my clients, I hear the word "legacy" a lot and that is representative of the path GOD maps out for us honoring those who come before and after us. Dr. NJoy's father gave her the name "Joy" and she continues to use her light to inspire others. Listen in to this amazing conversation and start choosing your joy. Enjoy! 5. How This Physician is Helping Her Peers Build Wealth | Camille Upchurch, MD

How This Physician is Helping Her Peers Build Wealth | Camille Upchurch, MD

In this episode, we have an honest conversation about money with Dr. Camille Upchurch. Every day we hear from money coaches, gurus, and society at large that success means more money. We are told to chase better jobs, start businesses, and find ways to increase our income. What often gets missed in the conversation is that we cannot truly build wealth until we get out of debt. Dr. Camille knows this firsthand. Like many physicians, she left training with six figures of student loan debt. While most of her peers focused on earning more, she went in search of books on money, debt management, and finance. She was determined not to repeat the generational patterns she witnessed growing up, where money was a constant source of stress. Through self-education and discipline, she paid off her debt, impressed her financial advisor, and even began teaching others what she had learned. She went on to lead classes for Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, but she noticed a gap. The narrative suggested physicians were not smart with money, when in reality they simply needed a plan and support to break free from debt and shame. Today, Dr. Camille uses her personal experience and expertise to help physicians and other high-earning professionals get out of debt, start investing, and finally build the wealth they have been working so hard for. I hope this episode serves as both inspiration and a practical resource for your own journey. 6. How This Physician Found Freedom Through Travel Medicine | Xunda Gibson, MD

How This Physician Found Freedom Through Travel Medicine | Xunda Gibson, MD

In this episode, I sit down with Xunda Gibson, MD who truly did it all. Like many physicians I meet, she dreamed of owning her own practice, and she made it happen for decades. Her mission was simple: to create an environment where patients received the care they truly deserved. She succeeded in bringing that vision to life, pouring her heart, soul, sweat, and tears into running her practice for many years. We talk about the highs and challenges of building and sustaining a practice, serving patients, running ads, staying engaged in the community, and doing everything possible to keep the doors open. Eventually, after a difficult conversation with her bookkeeper, she realized it was time to let go. The hardest part was not just closing the practice, it was saying goodbye to the patients, team, and family she had built along the way. But her story did not end there. On a temporary assignment overseas, Dr. Gibson discovered what healthcare could truly look like, with time and energy given to patients, real support among clinicians, and the space for her soul to feel refreshed in medicine again. That experience opened her eyes to a new path in travel medicine. As she continued assignments abroad, she was often asked, “How did you get here? How can I do this too?” Inspired by those questions, she built a business teaching other physicians how to become travel doctors. In this conversation, we dive into her journey from building and closing her practice to finally finding the freedom she had been seeking all along. I hope you enjoy this episode. - - - Xunda Gibson, MD LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/xunda-gibson-md-8123639/ - - - Bianca Ariel, MBA LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/biancaarielmba/ - - - Disclaimer: Although the guest featured in this episode is a licensed physician, the discussion is intended for informational and entertainment purposes only and should not be considered medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. 7. How This OBGYN Transitioned to The C-Suite | Kelly Elmore, MD

How This OBGYN Transitioned to The C-Suite | Kelly Elmore, MD

Dr. Kelly Elmore is the definition of a high performer and high achiever. Ever since she was six years old, she knew she wanted to become an OBGYN. She held on to that vision with unwavering belief and never let her circumstances or environment tell her otherwise. That kind of conviction is rare, and it was so powerful to hear how she stayed rooted in who she is, whose she is, and the support systems that helped her along the way. What really stood out to me in this conversation is that behind all of her success there has always been a commitment to doing the internal work. Yes, she has leaned on therapists, mentors, and coaches, but she has also relied on faith, prayer, and mindset to attract the people and opportunities that aligned with her purpose. From serving in the military and working her way up to captain, to building a successful career as an OBGYN, and then learning how to navigate her way into the C-suite, she shows what is possible when you refuse to let go of your dream. In our conversation, we also dive into some practical insights including: - How to leverage your network to transition into leadership - How to find conviction and clarity in your own path - How to rediscover who you are beyond your career - What she sees broken in the healthcare system and how she is working to make an impact I walked away inspired by her journey from career to calling, and I believe you will too. - - - - - - Kelly Elmore, MD LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drkellyomd/ - - - Bianca Ariel, MBA LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/biancaarielmba/ - - - Disclaimer: Although the guest featured in this episode is a licensed physician, the discussion is intended for informational and entertainment purposes only and should not be considered medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
