    Things That Used to Be Dangerous

    Things that once seemed completely normal can look absolutely insane in hindsight. In this episode, Nate and Seth look back at radioactive materials marketed to children, lawn darts, kids riding loose in cars, dangerous playgrounds, smoking everywhere, lead and asbestos, old workplace hazards, and a raspberry-flavored medicine that killed 107 people before federal law required drug companies to prove their products were safe. They also get into the politics and business behind safety. When should government step in? How much responsibility belongs to companies, parents and individuals? Did regulation save lives, or have we occasionally gone too far and become overly afraid of risk, especially when it comes to children?
