Movies for Breakfast

On each episode of the Movies for Breakfast podcast, I review, analyze, and discuss movies in depth, sometimes with a guest. My criticism is informed by my opinions on film, other media, art, culture, politics, history, and vibes. As much as I’m brutally honest, I also try to be fair. Movies are subjective at the end of the day, and I am not here to cinephilically explain to you why your favorite film should be Citizen Kane. The Drama (2026)

if you’re reading this leave me a 5 star review on Spotify and Apple Podcasts ❤️ In this episode I discuss The Drama (2026), the new A24 “rom com” by Kristoffer Borgli, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. I have mixed feelings about this movie – on the one hand, I did really enjoy watching it and found it very entertaining and (for my taste at least) often quite funny. On the other hand, I bristle at its attempts at social commentary and find it sorely lacking in depth on certain character points. No doubt this will be a divisive and controversial movie, so please (respectfully and calmly) share your own thoughts on it! Frankenstein, according to Mary Shelley

if you’re reading this leave me a 5 star review on Spotify and Apple Podcasts 3 My second book report on the pod! I was inspired to make this so that everyone can access Mary Shelley’s iconic cornerstone of science fiction in her own words, whether or not you have the time and energy to sit down and read it yourself right now. There’s much to unpack when it comes to Guillermo Del Toro’s 2025 Frankenstein adaptation and Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride (2026), but for today we focus on the original text, all of the characters and plot, and my interpretation of the themes Shelley explores. 5. "Wuthering Heights" (2026)

    "Wuthering Heights" (2026)

“Wuthering Heights” proves that anti-intellectualism is winning, and critical thinking gets punished. Last week I broke down Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë; this week, “Wuthering Heights” by Emerald Fennell broke me down. In this episode of the pod I give a (loose) plot summary of the movie, but mostly I analyze it and its role in pop culture as a test of media literacy and critical thinking. I get political a lot here and it feels necessary.
