Cincinnati Reds Deep In Sellers Territory, Bengals Stadium Rennovations, LeBron James Still Undecided

On today's show, we discuss where the Reds stand heading into the MLB trade deadline on August 3rd after an ugly loss last night in Seattle. Plus, the Bengals make renovations at Paycor Stadium and LeBron James' future is still uncertain.  The Stone Shields Show sponsors: Book an appointment at Richter & Phillips today: https://richterphillips.com/chatterbox Learn more about our friends at QC Kinetix! Cincinnati fell to 45-53, continuing a disappointing slide after briefly looking like a postseason contender earlier this season. The offense managed just three hits, while a six-run seventh inning, capped by Cal Raleigh’s grand slam, turned a close game into another frustrating defeat. With the Reds drifting further from the National League playoff picture, attention has shifted from chasing a Wild Card spot to determining which veterans could bring back valuable prospects. Designated hitter Eugenio Suárez has emerged as one of the most frequently discussed trade candidates. Despite an inconsistent overall season, he has shown flashes of his trademark power in recent weeks, making him an attractive option for contenders seeking right-handed pop. Several reports suggest Cincinnati could capitalize on that recent surge before the deadline. Relievers are also expected to draw significant interest. Teams looking to strengthen their bullpens often pay premium prices in July, and the Reds have several experienced arms that could fit contenders’ needs. President of Baseball Operations Nick Krall is expected to weigh offers carefully, balancing the desire to remain competitive in 2027 while continuing to build around cornerstone players such as Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Hunter Greene, and Chase Burns. While fans remain frustrated after another lopsided defeat, the coming days may define the direction of the franchise more than the final weeks of the regular season. If Cincinnati continues to struggle during the series in Seattle, the front office could accelerate trade discussions and focus on acquiring young, controllable talent. The Reds still possess a promising core, but the latest loss reinforced the reality that difficult deadline decisions may now be unavoidable. Cincinnati Reds Trade Rumors On Hunter Greene & Tyler Stephenson + Did Bryson DeChambeau Cross The Line?

On today's show, we discuss some Cincinnati Reds trade rumors with the MLB trade deadline approaching: Are the Reds shopping Hunter Greene? While teams across baseball would undoubtedly line up for one of the game's premier young starting pitchers, the Reds would need an overwhelming offer to even consider moving their ace. Hunter Greene is still just entering the prime of his career and has established himself as one of the most electric pitchers in Major League Baseball. Armed with a triple-digit fastball, improved command, and the ability to dominate elite lineups, Greene is exactly the type of player organizations spend years trying to develop. Those players are rarely made available unless a franchise is committing to a full rebuild. For Cincinnati, trading Greene would send a clear message that winning isn't the priority right now. The Reds have invested heavily in building around a young core featuring Elly De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Chase Burns, Noelvi Marte, and several other talented players. Removing Greene from that foundation would create a massive hole at the top of the rotation and make competing in the National League far more difficult. That said, every player has a price. If another team were willing to offer multiple top prospects, young major league talent, and controllable pitching, the Reds would at least have to listen. ESPN and national analysts have speculated about blockbuster scenarios because Greene's value has never been higher. Ultimately, though, the Reds should view Hunter Greene as part of the solution—not part of the return. Elite starting pitching is incredibly difficult to find, and Greene has already proven he can be a frontline starter when healthy. Unless Cincinnati is completely overwhelmed by an unprecedented trade package, the smarter move is to keep Greene, build around him, and continue pushing toward sustained playoff contention rather than resetting the franchise yet again. After flashing his immense potential over the second half of last season, the former first-round pick appears ready to establish himself as one of the AFC's premier right tackles. Mims' physical tools have never been in question. At 6-foot-8 and roughly 350 pounds, he combines rare size with impressive athleticism, giving him the ability to overwhelm defenders in both pass protection and the run game. The biggest difference entering 2026 is experience. With two seasons of NFL snaps under his belt, the game has started to slow down, allowing his natural talent to take over. Coaches have also praised his continued development and confidence heading into training camp. His late-season performance in 2025 offered a glimpse of what's to come. From Weeks 12 through 18, Mims posted one of the NFL's highest-graded stretches among offensive tackles while not allowing a single sack, a remarkable accomplishment considering the caliber of pass rushers he faced. That surge has led multiple analysts to identify him as a breakout player entering 2026. The Bengals are also positioned to maximize Mims' growth. For the first time in Joe Burrow's tenure, Cincinnati returns its entire starting offensive line, providing valuable continuity and chemistry across the unit. That stability should allow Mims to continue building on the progress he made late last year while giving Burrow cleaner pockets and helping the offense become more balanced. If Mims continues on his current trajectory, he won't simply be a breakout player—he could develop into one of the league's elite right tackles and become a foundational piece of Cincinnati's offensive line for years to come.
