The Bench Session

Frost

The Bench Session Unloading the weight, one session at a time. This is a place to slow down and talk honestly. Some of these conversations are the ones we only have in our own head. Some are the ones we save for the people we trust most. There’s no script. No performance. No pretending to have it all figured out. Sometimes it’s just me, a mic, a bench, and whatever needs to be said. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s grounding. Sometimes it’s exactly what you didn’t know you needed to hear. Life gets heavy. This is where we sit down and unload it — one session at a time.

The Things We Think We Need | Loren Lockman

What happens when we start questioning the things we've convinced ourselves we need? In this episode of The Bench Session, I'm joined by Loren Lockman, founder of Tanglewood Wellness Center and Fast to Rise, who has spent decades studying fasting, nutrition, and the human body. But this conversation goes beyond just food and fasting. We talk about Loren's journey, his experiences working with thousands of people, and what he's learned about human behavior along the way. We get into the relationship between food and emotions, discipline, discomfort, and why changing our habits can be so damn difficult, even when we know exactly what we should be doing. We also discuss his nearly three decades building Tanglewood, the challenges of closing that chapter, and what it means to move forward after dedicating so much of your life to something. And of course, I bring some of my own struggles with food and weight loss into the conversation. Because sometimes knowing what to do is the easy part. Actually doing it? That's a completely different story. Whether you're interested in fasting, struggling with your own habits, or just curious about how our minds and bodies work together, there's plenty to think about in this conversation. Sometimes the things we think we need are the very things worth questioning. The Man I’m Trying to Become

S2 E18 — The Man I’m Trying to Become I've spent a lot of time thinking about the man I want to become. But lately I've been asking myself a different question: Can I become that man without spending the entire journey believing the man I am today isn't good enough? In the Season 2 finale of The Bench Session, I talk about where that question started for me — my fitness journey — and how it turned into something much bigger. We talk about the loneliness of trying to change yourself, constantly moving the finish line, the difference between self-improvement and self-rejection, and what ambition actually costs when you're always chasing the next version of yourself. I also talk about the darker moments we don't always say out loud — when anxiety, trauma, grief, fear, or whatever we're carrying becomes so heavy that we can't imagine tomorrow, let alone ten years from now. Because this season has been about life. The good parts, the f****d-up parts, getting older, failing, changing, losing people, finding peace, and trying to understand who we are while we're still becoming whoever we're going to be. Ten years from now, I hope I'm proud of the man I became. But I also hope I can look back at the man sitting on this bench today and realize... he wasn't so f*****g bad either. This is the end of Season 2. I'll see you next season.
