What does it really mean to be free? The world often defines freedom as the ability to do whatever we want. But what if the things we want are the very things keeping us in bondage? In this LifeTALK Deep Dive, we explore the biblical meaning of freedom in Christ and unpack a powerful truth: Jesus didn’t set us free so we could return to the chains He broke. He set us free to walk with Him. 🔓✝️ We explore the difference between worldly freedom and spiritual freedom, why familiar bondage can sometimes feel safer than walking into something new, and how a person can be physically free while still being imprisoned by fear, guilt, shame, addiction, anger, bitterness, lust, unforgiveness, religious performance, or the opinions of others. 📖 Scriptures explored include: 1 Peter 2:16, freedom is not an excuse to return to evil. Galatians 5:1, Christ has set us free, so we must stand firm and not return to slavery. 2 Corinthians 3:17, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. John 8:32, 36, the truth sets us free, and if the Son sets us free, we are truly free. Romans 6, grace is not permission to remain enslaved to sin. Romans 8:1, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. This conversation also explores the difference between religion and relationship, why behavior modification alone cannot transform the human heart, and why true transformation happens from the inside out through the Holy Spirit. 🕊️ The Gospel is not: ❌ Fix yourself, then come to Jesus. The invitation of the Gospel is: ✝️ Come to Jesus. Trust Him. Follow Him. Allow Him to transform your life. We don’t obey Jesus to earn salvation. We obey Him because He saved us. Through Christ, we aren’t only set free FROM guilt, condemnation, fear, sin, shame, and bondage.
