Do Racial Stories Control How We Meet Each Other?

When two strangers meet, are they really meeting for the first time? Or are generations of stories meeting with them? In this episode of Ascended Warrior, Chris Alyssia explores theracial stories human beings inherit long before we're conscious enough to question them—and what happens when those stories enter our relationships, judgments, attraction, institutions, and everyday interactions. The episode begins with a story Chris has carried since high school: her mixed-race best friend being approached by two women at church and told that her parents' interracial marriage violated God's plan. The law had changed decades earlier. But the story hadn't. From there, we examine the space between overt racial hatred and something much quieter: racial conditioning. What does “our own people” mean? Why does changing the race of a fictional character sometimes change how we experience the character? Would you interpret the same behavior differently if the personperforming it belonged to another race? And what happens when two people enter an interaction already expecting something from each other? This isn't an episode asking: Am I racist? It's asking: What am I carrying? Because the stories we inherit can influence what we expect. What we expect can influence how we behave. And our behavior can help create outcomes that seem to confirm the story we started with. The goal isn't guilt. It's awareness. Because once we see the story, we get to choose whether we still believe it. When two strangers meet, are they really meeting for the first time? After Slavery: What Happened Next?

We know slavery ended. But what happened the day after? And the generation after that? Season 5 of Ascended Warrior begins by pulling back the veil onsomething we often experience without realizing it: the world we inherited. For me, that became personal during a trip to Hampton, Virginia. I knew Hampton's modern reputation. What she didn't know was the history underneath it—the people who escaped slavery and gathered around Fort Monroe, the Great Contraband Camp, the communities they created, and the extraordinary role education played as people attempted to build lives afterbondage. The more I learned, the more the same streets began to look different. Nothing about Hampton had changed. What changed was what I could see. From there, this episode asks a much larger question. Slavery wasn't simply a relationship between an enslaved person and an owner. Economies, laws, labor systems, education, geography, institutions and generations of beliefs about race grew around it. When legal ownership disappeared, what happened to everything surrounding it? And what happens when we inherit the outcomes of history without understanding the history that produced them? This isn't a conversation about inherited guilt. It's an invitation to become curious about inherited conclusions. Because becoming conscious isn't about having the perfect opinions. I t's about becoming willing to see what you couldn't see before and deciding consciously what you carry forward. You Came Here to Remember: Lessons From Hawaiʻi

I went to Hawaiʻi looking for spiritual messages. What I came home with was something simpler: Maybe this life isn't about constantly learning who we are. Maybe it's about remembering. Throughout my time on Oʻahu, I found myself reconnecting with things that are remarkably easy to lose in ordinary life—the Earth, change, playfulness, presence, and the awareness that our lives are part of something much larger than the moment we're standing in. And Hawaiʻi also reflected something back to me about myself. I realized how seriously I had been taking my own spiritual journey. I was approaching certain experiences almost like tests: Am I doing this right? Am I being authentic enough? Am I honoring who I really am? Especially when I found myself back in military spaces, I became so focused on being true to myself that I sometimes lost the experience itself. Hawaiʻi reminded me: This isn't a test. It's a journey. You can be spiritual and playful. Grounded and curious. Deep without making everything heavy. You can honor where you've been without refusing to change. And perhaps most importantly, you can stop searching long enough to actually be here. In this special episode of Ascended Warrior, I share the deeper lessons that emerged from my time in Hawaiʻi: remembering versus learning, our connection with nature, allowing ourselves to change, finding balance between seriousness and play, being present for the life we're actually living, and becoming conscious of the ripples we leave behind. Because someday we will be the ancestors. The question isn't simply what we accomplished while we were here. It's what our presence added to the world. 🌺 Watch the individual Hawaiʻi messages here:[HAWAIʻI SPIRITUAL SERIES PLAYLIST LINK] 🌎 Explore my Sacred Earth Work here:[SACRED EARTH WORK PLAYLIST LINK] Remember who you are.Be here while you're here. And leave something beautiful behind. 🌺 Watch the individual messages filmed across Oʻahu in the Hawaiʻi Spiritual Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFfspzsF_QqQ _____________________________ 🔗 Visit the website for tools to stay steady:https://ascended-warrior.com 💫 Subscribe for weekly conversations on spirituality, sovereignty, emotional maturity, and conscious evolution. Why Joy Is More Powerful Than Fear

What if joy isn’t something we earn after life gets better? What if it’s one of the most powerful ways we meet life while it’s still difficult? We live in a world constantly competing for our fear—through headlines, uncertainty, conflict, outrage, and the endless stream of things we’re told we should be worried about. And somewhere along the way, many of us began confusing suffering with caring. If someone else is hurting, should we hurt too? If the world is struggling, is it selfish to feel joy? In this episode of Ascended Warrior, I explore why I’m beginning to see joy very differently—not as happiness, positivity, or an escape from reality, but as a form of grounded power. We explore the difference between empathy and suffering, fear and concern, and what happens when we stop allowing the outside world to determine our internal state. I also share a realization from my time in Hawaii: I became so concerned with being authentic and doing the experience “right” that I caught myself getting in the way of actually living it. Maybe awakening isn’t about becoming more serious. Maybe strength isn’t measured by how much of the world’s pain we can carry. And maybe we don’t have to wait until everything is okay before we allow ourselves to feel alive. You do not need to honor the suffering of the world by refusing joy. So here’s the question: Can you witness what’s happening, care deeply, take action when action is needed—and still choose joy? Because perhaps joy isn’t the opposite of caring. Perhaps it’s one of the most powerful things we can bring into a frightened world. _____________________________🔗 Visit the website for tools to stay steady:https://ascended-warrior.com💫 Subscribe for weekly conversations on spirituality, sovereignty, emotional maturity, and conscious evolution.New episodes every Thursday._____________________________Discover Where You Are in Your Spiritual AwakeningTake this 2-Minute Soul Awakening Quizhttps://ascended-warrior.com/5-phases-of-soul-awakening-quiz/

Human Before Policy: How We Stop Losing Each Other

Before they were a Republican or a Democrat... Before they were an immigrant, a police officer, a CEO, or someone experiencing homelessness... They were a human being. So when did we stop seeing them that way? In this episode of Ascended Warrior, we explore one of the most powerful—and dangerous—psychological patterns shaping our world today: dehumanization. Why does the human mind naturally divide people into "us" and "them"? How do labels quietly replace curiosity with certainty, empathy with judgment, and people with categories? Drawing from psychology, history, spirituality, and personal experience, Chris examines why it's so easy to forget the person behind the label—and how we can begin seeing each other again without abandoning our values or convictions. This isn't a conversation about choosing sides. It's a conversation about remembering our shared humanity. In this episode: Why our brains instinctively create "us vs. them" thinkingThe hidden cost of reducing people to labelsHow fear and identity shape the way we see othersWhat psychology and spirituality reveal about dehumanizationPractical ways to cultivate empathy without sacrificing discernmentA guided reflection to help you reconnect with the human behind every labelHealthy societies need laws. Healthy civilizations need humanity. The question is: When did they stop being human? Or... did we simply stop seeing them? _____________________________🔗 Visit the website for tools to stay steady:https://ascended-warrior.com💫 Subscribe for weekly conversations on spirituality, sovereignty, emotional maturity, and conscious evolution.New episodes every Thursday._____________________________Discover Where You Are in Your Spiritual AwakeningTake this 2-Minute Soul Awakening Quizhttps://ascended-warrior.com/5-phases-of-soul-awakening-quiz/
