As parents, we all want our kids to be accepted and loved, but that starts at home. When your child comes out, it can be overwhelming. You might feel scared or even lost. That's completely normal! But remember, if you struggle to accept your child, how can you expect others to? It's a tough world out there, and they need our support now more than ever. I've been on this journey for 15 years and I’m still learning. My daughter is living her best life and is happy with her partner.     Matthew 25 Aids Services Celebrates 30 Years of Serving the LGBTQ+ Rural Communities of Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky

Join us today as Rachel shares the mission of the organization Matthew 25, a nonprofit celebrating its 30th anniversary.  Matthew 25 was founded in 1996 at the Zion Church of Christ in Henderson, Kentucky. Today, it’s serving 37 counties in western Kentucky and southwest Indiana, with clinics in Henderson, Owensboro, Bowling Green, and Evansville. Karen and Rachel discuss the history of the AIDS epidemic, pointing out the early confusion, fear, and prejudice that defined the 1980s and 1990s. Rachel shares how important parental support for the LGBTQ+ youth and those diagnosed with HIV is to keep strong support systems. Matthew 25 offers various support services, including counseling, to help patients and their families, especially in rural areas where local resources might be limited. Matthew 25 uses a patient-centered approach, offering a wide range of services like primary healthcare, mental health support, dietary planning, case management, and transportation. Rachel Trout mentioned that they’re like a “one-stop shop,” making sure patients get the care and medication they need during their visits.
