The Men's Roundtable Series - The Weight of the Unsaid — Conversations Men Keep Avoiding

The Weight of the Unsaid — Conversations Men Keep Avoiding We stop pretending silence is strength and name the pressure cooker that builds when men avoid hard conversations. We share personal stories about counseling, father wounds, shame, forgiveness, and why waiting for the right time keeps men stuck. • Pressure cooker emotions and why bottling up backfires • How counseling and faith create space for honesty in marriage • The lack of healthy male communication models in culture • Why pride and shame block the phone call for help • The 3 a.m. text and the need for at least one brother • Five categories of unfinished conversation: apology, truth, love, forgiveness, boundaries • Regret, closure, and making peace when a talk is no longer possible • Practical ways to lead by example without forcing disclosure • Mortality, living in the present, and confronting conversations today Which appeals to you most in this season that you need to address?  The Unspoken Apology: The apology you've never given. The Unspoken Truth: The truth you've never told. Unexpressed Love: The "I love you" you've assumed they already know. Forgiveness Deferred: The forgiveness you've never asked for, or the forgiveness you've been waiting to offer—or receive. Unestablished Boundaries: The boundary you've never established or have been afraid to set. CLOSING THOUGHT: There are things time doesn't fix. Sometimes the conversation is the beginning of the healing. The MRTS - "I'm Good" Is the Most Expensive Lie We Tell

Episode Summary: "I'm Good" Is the Most Expensive Lie We Tell Episode Title: "I'm Good" Is the Most Expensive Lie We Tell Scripture Anchors: Psalm 32:3–5 | Psalm 13 | Proverbs 4:23 "I'm good." Two syllables, one tiny lie—and a phrase most men have been using for years to mask how they really feel. In this episode, we challenge the lie that emotional fitness is weakness and explore what happens when we bury unspoken pain under work, numbing, or silence. Looking at King David’s raw honesty in the Psalms, we see that unexpressed emotion doesn't disappear; as Psalm 32 warns, keeping silent only wastes us away from the inside out. Silence isn't strength—it's storage, and storage always overflows. We break down the steep price tag of "I'm good" on a man's physical health, his marriage, his leadership, and the children watching him. Learn why guarding your heart doesn't mean hiding it, and how learning to name what you carry is the ultimate act of self-leadership. Key Takeaway: Naming what you feel is not weakness. It is the first step of leadership over yourself. What We Cover: Beyond the Three Emotions: Breaking past the default loop of angry, tired, and fine to build real emotional fitness. The High Cost of Unprocessed Pain: How emotional suppression shows up in your body, creates marital distance, and teaches the next generation to hide.David’s Model of Honest Strength: Why "How long, O Lord?" is a faithful prayer, not a failure of faith. The 3-Step Practice: How to Name It, Locate It, and Tell It—plus a simple 5-minute weekly rhythm to evaluate your internal weather report. The Open Door Challenge: Why getting professional help or reaching out to a safe brother is wisdom, not weakness. It’s about what you choose to do with what life gives you. In this conversation, Jay and Mista Yu explore: Why “Don’t ask why. Ask why not” became a life philosophyThe lessons a working farm can teach a man about responsibilityFaith and the power of believing in yourselfResilience in the face of physical limitationsWhy purpose can change throughout your lifeWhat failure can teach us that success cannotCourage, grit, determination, and perseveranceThe choices that shape the man we becomeWhy age doesn’t have to define your usefulnessHelping others while continuing to grow yourselfWhat it means to refuse to quitFinding purpose when life doesn’t go according to plan This is a conversation about what it means to keep moving forward when moving forward looks different than you imagined. “Why not me—and what am I going to do with it?” If this episode resonates with you….. The Men's Roundtable Series Podcast: The Art of Losing — What Failure Teaches a Man

Winning can be a great motivator, but it can also become a trap. We’ve both seen grown men melt down over a loss, chase “respect” through constant one-upmanship, and treat every moment like a scoreboard. That’s not just awkward, it’s a warning sign that our identity is tied to outcomes instead of character, purpose, and love. We talk through what failure actually teaches a man when life doesn’t cooperate: when the deal falls apart, the job ends, the relationship changes, or the dream you carried for years doesn’t happen. D.L. and Mista Yu shares hard-earned perspective from losing big, including how a setback after prison left him overwhelmed and close to suicide before his life took a new direction through faith. We break down the difference between “I failed” and “I am a failure,” and why confusing the two can push men toward pride, isolation, and reckless choices. We also go deep on value and grief. If your worth depends on other people’s opinions or surface-level perception, any loss can feel like a collapse. We challenge the myth that grief has a set timeline, and we talk about the courage it takes to sit in the pain instead of trying to replace it with noise, work, substances, or a new distraction. The thread that ties it together is simple and demanding: love changes how you lose, and love changes how you heal. If this conversation helps you name what you’ve been carrying, subscribe, share it with a brother who needs it, and leave a review so more men can find it. Support the show

The Men's Roundtable Series - The Man in the Mirror: Integrity, Alignment & the Hidden Life

Why is it sometimes easier to perform in public than to be honest in private? Every man has a public life and a private life. The question is whether they are actually aligned. This conversation takes an honest look at the hidden pressures men carry, the energy required to maintain an image, and the ways we use work, distraction, achievement, and other escapes to avoid what we don't want to confront. Because what remains unresolved in private rarely stays there. Eventually, it finds its way into our relationships, our leadership, our families, and the way we see ourselves. The goal isn't perfection. It's alignment—the courage to become the same man in private that you present in public. The toughest person to lead is the one staring back at you. Tonight we bring “the man in the mirror” to the center of the table and get specific about what personal integrity actually looks like in daily life, not just in big speeches or public moments. Together with tonight's panelists, we separate character from integrity: integrity as wholeness and alignment, character as the full set of qualities revealed in how we treat people, handle responsibility, and live out our standards when nobody is keeping score. We also talk about what we do when we don’t want to feel what we’re feeling. Whether it’s TV, nonstop work, physical activity, or constant noise, avoidance can look harmless while it quietly steals growth. The line we keep coming back to is simple: do you choose the coping tool, or do you need it to function? From there, we dig into blind spots and why self-awareness is not a solo sport, including a real story about missing a child’s unspoken request for connection and what it takes to repair in the moment. Finally, we zoom out to consequences and ripple effects. Misalignment doesn’t just hit us, it spreads to family, coworkers, and even the small relationships we build in everyday routines. We close with practical next steps: incremental growth, minimum viable routines for hard days, and radical integrity commitments for the week ahead, from cutting doom-scrolling to showing up with more fairness and presence at home.
