30: The Autoimmune Shift No One Is Talking About | Why I Stopped Chasing Symptoms

Connecting the Dots: Stress, Hormones & Autoimmune Health What if your symptoms aren't separate problems to solve? What if they're all connected? If you've been struggling with autoimmune disease, chronic stress, perimenopause, brain fog, gut issues, exhaustion, inflammation, anxiety, or feeling like your body has suddenly become someone you don't recognize, this series is for you. In Connecting the Dots, we're moving beyond isolated symptoms and beginning to understand how your nervous system, hormones, immune system, inflammation, gut, and stress response influence one another. Because your body doesn't function in separate systems. Everything is communicating. Throughout this series, we'll explore topics like: • The hidden relationship between chronic stress and autoimmune disease • How nervous system regulation influences healing • Why inflammation isn't the whole story • The connection between hormones and immune function • Why so many women feel like everything changes during midlife • Why chasing symptoms often leaves us feeling stuck • How to begin working with your body instead of constantly fighting against it My hope is that by the end of this series, you'll stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and start asking, "What has my body been trying to tell me?" Because when you understand your body, you stop fearing it. And when you stop fearing your body, healing has room to begin. I'm so glad you're here. Let's connect the dots—together. 🌿 Welcome to the Whole She Rises Podcast If you're a high-achieving midlife woman who doesn't feel like yourself anymore, you're in the right place. 29: What If Your Midlife Symptoms Aren't Separate?

Have you ever wondered if your exhaustion, brain fog, anxiety, gut issues, hormone changes, autoimmune symptoms, and constant overwhelm are actually connected? What if they aren't separate problems at all? In this episode, we're taking a step back to look at the bigger picture. Throughout this first series, we've talked about why so many midlife women suddenly don't feel like themselves anymore—from burnout and exhaustion to midlife rage and why self-care often isn't enough.  But before we move into our next series, I want to leave you with one important question: What if your symptoms have been telling one connected story all along? In this episode, we'll explore: Why your body doesn't experience symptoms in isolationThe powerful garden analogy that changes how we think about healingHow your hormones, nervous system, immune system, gut, sleep, and stress constantly communicate with one anotherWhy treating one symptom at a time doesn't always address the bigger pictureThe mindset shift that helped transform my own healing journeyThis episode is the bridge between our first series and our upcoming series, Connecting the Dots: How Stress, Hormones, and Your Immune System Shape Midlife Health. Over the next several weeks, we'll begin exploring how these systems work together—and why understanding those connections can help you stop blaming yourself and start understanding your body with greater compassion and clarity. If you've ever found yourself thinking... "I don't feel like myself anymore." "Why do I have so many different symptoms?" "Is this just perimenopause?" "Why does everything seem connected?" ...then I think you'll feel right at home here. If this episode encouraged you, I'd love for you to follow the podcast, leave a review, or share it with a friend who needs the reminder that she isn't broken. Because your body isn't working against you. It's communicating with you. And sometimes healing begins when we stop looking at the individual pieces... and start connecting the dots. 🌿 Welcome to the Whole She Rises Podcast If you're a high-achieving midlife woman who doesn't feel like yourself anymore, you're in the right place. 28: Why Midlife Rage Feels So Intense in Perimenopause

Have you ever completely lost your patience over something that normally wouldn't have bothered you? Maybe your husband starts chewing. Someone asks one more question. A simple text message feels like too much. Then almost immediately, you feel guilty for reacting the way you did. If you've been experiencing more irritability, frustration, or even rage during midlife, you're not alone—and you're probably not becoming the person you fear you've become. In this episode of the Whole She Rises Podcast, we're talking about what's often happening beneath midlife rage. We'll explore how hormonal changes can make the nervous system more sensitive, why hormone therapy can be an important piece of healing but isn't always the entire answer, and how years of chronic stress, over-functioning, people-pleasing, and emotional overload often contribute to the emotional reactivity so many women experience. Most importantly, we'll talk about why your symptoms don't define who you are. Because feeling angry doesn't make you an angry person. Sometimes it simply means your body has been carrying too much for too long. If you've ever found yourself asking, "What's wrong with me?" I hope this conversation helps you begin asking a different question: What is my body trying to tell me? In next week's episode, we're beginning a brand-new series as we start connecting the dots between chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, autoimmune symptoms, hormones, and the many ways our bodies communicate long before we recognize what's happening. 🌿 Welcome to the Whole She Rises Podcast If you're a high-achieving midlife woman who doesn't feel like yourself anymore, you're in the right place. 27: The Hidden Burnout So Many Midlife Women Normalize in Perimenopause & Autoimmune

What if you're more burned out than you even realize? Not the kind of burnout where everything falls apart. The kind where you're still showing up, taking care of everyone else, accomplishing everything on your list... but underneath it all, you're exhausted, emotionally depleted, and no longer feel like yourself. In this episode of the Whole She Rises Podcast, we're talking about the hidden burnout so many midlife women normalize for years without recognizing it. You'll learn why burnout doesn't always look like falling apart, why high-achieving women often miss the warning signs, and why midlife is often the season when our bodies simply become less willing and able to keep carrying years of chronic stress. I'll also share part of my own story—what it felt like to have a life I had prayed for, yet struggle to fully experience the joy and peace I knew should have been there.  Looking back, I realized my body wasn't failing me. It was asking me to slow down and pay attention. In this episode, we'll discuss: • Why burnout often hides behind productivity and responsibility • The subtle signs of burnout many women dismiss as "normal" • Why midlife exposes years of accumulated stress • The hidden cost of always being "the strong one" • One simple question to help you begin reconnecting with yourself If you've been feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, emotionally reactive, or disconnected from yourself, I hope this conversation reminds you that you're not failing—your body may simply be asking for a different rhythm. Remember: Just because you've learned how to carry it... doesn't mean you're meant to carry it forever. I think this episode pairs beautifully with last week's conversation: Episode 26: My Healing Journey: What I Wish I Had Known Sooner About Autoimmune, Perimenopause, and Survival Mode If today's conversation resonated with you, I encourage you to listen to that episode next to hear the personal story behind everything we discussed today. ✨ Connect with Mandi 🌿 Website: Whole She Rises 📖 Download your free Back to You Blueprint 📷 Instagram: @wholesherises 🎧 Subscribe so you never miss an episode of the Whole She Rises Podcast. 🌿 Welcome to the Whole She Rises Podcast If you're a high-achieving midlife woman who doesn't feel like yourself anymore, you're in the right place. 26: My Healing Journey: What I Wish I Had Known Sooner About Autoimmune, Perimenopause, and Survival Mode

For years, I thought healing was something I could figure out if I just worked hard enough. Find the right doctor.Take the right supplement.Follow the right protocol.Get the right diagnosis. After developing Guillain-Barré Syndrome at 28 years old, my life changed overnight.  What followed were years of autoimmune symptoms, fatigue, digestive issues, hormonal struggles, doctor appointments, testing, and searching for answers. And when perimenopause entered the picture, everything became even harder. In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing the story behind the story—the fear, frustration, grief, and exhaustion that shaped my healing journey, along with the realization that ultimately changed everything for me. Because what I eventually discovered wasn't another supplement, another diagnosis, or another protocol. It was understanding that my body had spent years living in survival mode. If you've been doing all the right things but still don't feel like yourself… If you're exhausted, overwhelmed, or wondering why healing feels harder than it should… I hope this conversation helps you feel a little less alone. In This Episode: • My experience with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and recovery • The years of autoimmune symptoms that followed • How perimenopause intensified my health struggles • The moment I felt completely lost in my healing journey • What no one told me about survival mode and chronic stress • Why your body may not be working against you • The shift that helped me begin healing in a different way Free Resource: Download my free Back to You Blueprint. 25: Why You're So Exhausted in Midlife (It's Not Just Hormones) | Perimenopause & Autoimmune

Do you ever feel exhausted no matter what you do? Not just tired... but deeply depleted. The kind of exhaustion that follows you from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall into bed at night. In this episode, we're talking about why so many women in midlife feel exhausted, even when they're trying to do all the "right" things. You're eating better. Taking supplements. Trying to get more sleep. Maybe you've even started addressing your hormones. And yet, you still don't feel like yourself. What if your exhaustion isn't a sign that you're lazy, weak, or failing? What if it's your body trying to tell you something? In this conversation, we'll explore why midlife exhaustion is often about more than hormones alone, how years of stress, responsibility, caregiving, and over-functioning can impact the body, and why rest doesn't always solve the problem. If you've been wondering why you feel so tired all the time, I hope this episode helps you feel seen, understood, and a little less alone. And make sure you're following the podcast because next week I'm sharing one of the most personal episodes I've ever recorded—my own healing journey through autoimmune disease, chronic symptoms, years of searching for answers, and the lessons I wish I had learned much sooner. 24: Why Midlife Women Feel Like Their Body Fell Apart

Why Midlife Women Feel This Way | Episode 1 Have you ever looked at yourself and quietly wondered: "What is happening to me?" Not because of one symptom, but because your entire experience of your life and yourself suddenly feels different. • You're exhausted in ways that rest doesn't seem to fix. • You feel emotionally reactive in ways that don't feel like you. • Your body feels inflamed. • Your mind feels foggy. • Your confidence feels shaken. And maybe the hardest part of all is that you don't feel like yourself anymore. In this first episode of the Why Midlife Women Feel This Way series, we're exploring a question so many women are asking in silence: Why does my body suddenly feel like it's falling apart? Together, we'll talk about: • Why so many women feel physically and emotionally different in midlife • The hidden toll of chronic stress, over-functioning, and carrying too much for too long • The connection between nervous system overload, inflammation, autoimmune symptoms, and hormonal shifts • Why your body may not be failing you—it may be overloaded • How understanding what's happening underneath your symptoms can begin shifting you out of shame and into self-compassion This episode is especially for the woman who has spent years holding everything together for everyone else and now feels exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected from herself, and unsure how she got here. My hope is that this conversation helps you feel less alone, more understood, and reminds you that what you're experiencing may make more sense than you think. Because understanding why you feel this way is often the first step toward feeling like yourself again. 23: Why Self-Care Isn't Working for Midlife Women

In this episode of the Whole She Rises Podcast, we’re talking about something that completely changed the way I approached healing: Not just using nervous system tools… but creating a lifestyle that actually supports regulation. Because nervous system healing isn’t only about what happens during a regulation practice. It’s also about the life your body has to return to afterward. So many women are trying to heal while still living inside constant urgency, overstimulation, pressure, people-pleasing, and emotional exhaustion — and eventually the body responds to that accumulation of stress. In this conversation, we explore: how your environment impacts your nervous systemenergy management vs. time managementreducing overstimulation and constant inputboundaries without over-explainingcreating more spaciousness and safety in everyday lifewhy healing isn’t about becoming calm all the timeand how small lifestyle shifts can support regulation in powerful waysIf you’ve been navigating chronic stress, burnout, autoimmune symptoms, perimenopause, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself and your body… I hope this episode helps you feel seen, understood, and supported.
