    Three Moments That Changed Everything

Send us Fan Mail We weren’t looking to become Christians. One of us had walked away from church, the other was searching everywhere for truth, through New Age practices, healing, meditation and anything that promised answers. In this episode, we share the full story of how that search began to unravel, the moment on 16 October 2022 that changed everything, and the unexpected chain of events that followed, from Bible study and difficult questions, to baptism, learning to recognise God’s voice and eventually starting The Muddy Cross. There were moments of fear, resistance and uncertainty, but also moments of peace, clarity and direction that we couldn’t explain away. What we thought was one path ended up leading us somewhere completely different. This is our testimony, from searching to surrender. If you’ve ever walked away from faith, questioned everything, or found yourself searching for peace in all the wrong places, this episode is for you. Unfiltered Faith - Raw Ramblings

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Unfiltered Faith, we’re having an honest, unscripted conversation about what’s been on our hearts lately. We talk about evangelism, finding creative ways to share our faith and the challenge of prioritising our time so we’re not just getting through life, but actually making a difference in the lives of others. It’s easy to say we want to serve God, help people and share the Gospel, but what happens when our diaries are full, our attention is elsewhere, and we don’t make room for the people who need us? Sometimes, living out our faith doesn’t mean doing something extraordinary. It might mean noticing someone others walk past, giving up a little of our time, offering practical help, or simply being willing to have a conversation about Jesus when an opportunity comes along. We’re not coming to you with a perfectly prepared message or all the answers. This is just us, talking openly about what God is teaching us, challenging us with, and reminding us about as we try to live out our faith in the real world. Because faith isn’t just about what we believe. It’s about how we live, the choices we make, and what we do with the time God has given us. Join the conversation and let us know in the comments: what’s one practical way you could use your time this week to make a difference in someone else’s life? Why Did Jesus Spit in His Eyes - The Miracle That Wasn’t Finished Yet

Send us Fan Mail Why would Jesus spit on a blind man’s eyes - and why did the man still not see clearly after the first touch? Jesus had already shown that He could heal with a word or a touch. So Mark 8 is strange. Jesus takes the man outside the village, spits on his eyes, lays hands on him… and the man can see, but only partially. In this episode of The Muddy Cross Podcast, Dee and Jodie look at the unusual details of this miracle, the other occasions where Jesus uses spit or mud, and an intriguing possible connection to creation and restoration. But the biggest clue may actually be found in what Mark places around the miracle. The disciples have seen what Jesus can do, yet they still don’t fully understand. Peter recognises that Jesus is the Messiah, but moments later shows that he still doesn’t understand the full picture. Blindness. Partial sight. Clear sight. And suddenly the two-stage healing starts to feel much bigger than one man’s eyesight. Because sometimes seeing something isn’t the same as seeing it clearly. We can follow Jesus, believe in Him and genuinely know Him while still carrying assumptions, inherited ideas and perspectives that need greater clarity. And that may be the real challenge of this passage: What if the danger isn’t always being blind but assuming that because we can see something, we must already be seeing it clearly? By the end of this conversation, we come back to one simple prayer: Jesus, where am I not seeing clearly? What am I missing? Because Jesus didn’t leave the man with partial vision. And perhaps He doesn’t want to leave us there either. Scriptures discussed: Mark 8:22–33 Mark 7:31–37 John 9:1–7 Genesis 2:7 John 1:1–3 The Muddy Cross Podcast Beyond the what… into the why. Jesus Wrote in the Dirt… But THAT Wasn’t the Point

Send us Fan Mail Why did Jesus write in the dirt when everyone around Him was demanding an answer? A woman had been dragged publicly before Jesus. The religious leaders wanted a verdict. They wanted condemnation. They wanted something they could use against Him. And Jesus… bent down and wrote in the dirt. Scripture never tells us what He wrote. But maybe that isn’t the most important question. Because while Jesus was writing, something changed. The people pointing fingers were forced to look at themselves. The crowd demanding judgement began to walk away. The stones stayed on the ground. In this episode of The Muddy Cross Podcast, Dee and Jodie explore John 8:1–11 and what this moment says about the way we judge others, the stones we carry, and the tension between grace and truth. Because it is easy to reduce someone to their worst moment. It is easy to join the pile-on. It is easy to examine somebody else before examining ourselves. But Jesus does something completely different. He does not pretend sin does not matter. He also refuses to let someone’s failure become their entire identity.  Pasted markdown So before we comment, judge, label, gossip or decide who somebody is… Maybe the question is not: “What did Jesus write in the dirt?” Maybe it is: “What stone am I holding?” And perhaps the most Christlike thing we can do is not pick it up. It’s put it down.  Pasted markdown Key Scripture: John 8:1–11 The Muddy Cross Podcast Support the show Support The Muddy Cross Help us keep creating free faith-based conversations and resources https://www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross Watch The Muddy Cross over on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast Free faith-based resources Download free Bible studies, devotionals, ebooks and more https://www.themuddycross.com

Jesus Already Knew the Answer… So Why Ask?

Send us Fan Mail What if some of the most important things Jesus wants to say to us don’t come as answers but as questions? Jesus asked questions He already knew the answer to. Who do you say I am? What do you want Me to do for you? Do you want to get well? At first, they seem almost unnecessary. Jesus already knew the people, their situations and what they needed. So why ask? In this episode of The Muddy Cross Podcast, Dee and Jodie explore three questions Jesus asked  and what happens when we stop reading them as questions for somebody else and allow Him to ask them of us. Because sometimes the question isn’t exposing what Jesus doesn’t know. It’s exposing what we haven’t admitted yet. Who is Jesus really to me?  What do I actually want from Him?  And if change requires something from me… am I willing to respond? Maybe Jesus wasn’t asking because He didn’t know the answer. Maybe He was asking because we needed to hear our own answer. Key Scriptures: Matthew 16:13–17 | Mark 10:46–52 | John 5:1–9 The Muddy Cross Podcast Beyond the what… into the why. It Almost Didn't Happen

Send us Fan Mail What do you do when God tells you to keep going… but everything around you seems to be telling you to stop? The Muddy Cross Podcast almost didn’t happen. Before we ever recorded our first episode, we prayed and asked God to confirm whether this podcast was something He actually wanted us to do. He answered — more than once — and we stepped out in faith. Now, one year later, we found ourselves asking the same question again. With broken microphones, ongoing costs, slow growth and plenty of reasons to wonder whether it was time to stop, we went back to God and asked: Are we still supposed to be doing this? The answer we both felt was clear: keep going. In this episode, we’re sharing the story behind The Muddy Cross, why our free Christian resources became an offering rather than a business, and why Proverbs 3:5–6 has followed us throughout this entire journey. Because trusting God isn’t only about trusting Him when everything makes sense. Sometimes faith means continuing when you can’t see the outcome.  Sometimes obedience means moving before you know where the road leads.  And sometimes God asks you to keep going when you were almost ready to give up. If you’re currently questioning something God has called you to do, struggling to understand His direction, waiting for progress, or wondering whether it’s time to quit, this conversation is for you. What has God asked you to do that you’re currently questioning? Has He ever told you to keep going when everything in you wanted to stop? Share your story in the comments. Your experience could be the encouragement someone else needs today. And if The Muddy Cross has encouraged you in your faith, subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss what’s coming next. Is it God or just Coincidence?

Send us Fan Mail Is it God or just coincidence?  How do you know if God is speaking to you, and how can you tell the difference between a genuine sign from God and something you simply want to believe? In this episode, we explore Christian discernment, how to discern God’s voice, and what to do when the same idea, scripture, conversation or theme keeps appearing in your life. We look at biblical examples including Samuel, Gideon and Peter, and ask whether repetition can sometimes be a form of confirmation from God, or whether it may simply be coincidence. We also talk about the danger of seeing signs everywhere, especially when we desperately want something to be true. So how do you test what you think God might be saying? We discuss practical ways to discern God’s will: checking whether it agrees with Scripture, praying for wisdom, listening to trusted Christians, noticing independent confirmations, and looking at the fruit it is producing in your life. This episode also explores the fear of getting it wrong, the temptation to keep asking God for another sign, and the point where discernment may need to become obedience. If you have ever wondered how to know if God is speaking to you, whether something is a sign from God or coincidence, or how to test what God is saying, this conversation is for you. Because repetition is not always confirmation, but sometimes it may be an invitation to listen. Maybe the prayer is not, “God, give me another sign,” but, “God, give me the wisdom to recognise what You are already showing me.” Support the show Support The Muddy Cross Help us keep creating free faith-based conversations and resources https://www.buymeacoffee.com/themuddycross Watch The Muddy Cross over on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@TheMuddyCrossPodcast Free faith-based resources Download free Bible studies, devotionals, ebooks and more https://www.themuddycross.com
