Just Score the TD and Games We Will Be Playing This Weekend

Is taking a knee instead of scoring a touchdown really the smart football move? We challenge conventional NFL wisdom before celebrating our first profitable week on both FanDuel and DraftKings with the Optimizer. We also talk about shrinking the player pool and finding more consistent players. Then we dive into Final Fantasy nostalgia, EverQuest Legends Paladin quests and epic weapons, and our biggest Terra CORE update yet. The online game is now playable, with multiplayer testing, touchscreen support, and a deck builder! NFL Week 3, Bards, Monks and Enchanters

We keep shrinking the DFS player pool and uncover a few more problems with the optimizer—including Stars & Scrubs builds and how different RB archetypes are handled. After nearly breaking the whole thing while fixing it, we're down around 70–80 players and ready for another NFL week. Then we dive into EverQuest Legends builds, Bard songs, motes, dungeons and gear before revealing a completely rebuilt online version of Terra CORE with its own deck builder. We're getting closer to finally playing Terra CORE online. NFL Week 2 and Xenogears Atlas

The quarterback injuries are piling up, which has Travis feeling pretty good about his new four-QB Best Ball strategy. We talk about the chaos around the league, our fantasy football results, Pick 5, and why sometimes simply surviving long enough to make the playoffs is all that matters. More importantly, the DFS Optimizer is starting to show some real signs of life. Travis had a lineup finish 14th in a massive contest and another crack the top 50, while getting the player pool down to just over 100 players. But testing also uncovered another problem: the bring-back feature wasn't accounting for quarterback and pass-catcher archetypes correctly. We break down what was happening, how it's been fixed for Week 3, why Travis is continuing to cut players from his pool, and the difference between spreading risk across hundreds of lineups versus going all-in on one quarterback. Then gaming takes over. We talk about upcoming retro-style releases, the fan-made Xenogears Atlas project, AI in game development, and why EverQuest Legends has completely taken over our gaming time. Travis and Lee compare builds, leveling strategies, Bard kiting, loot, blacksmithing, and why EverQuest Legends has grabbed us in a way the WoW Forever beta hasn't—at least not yet. Finally, Lee has his Terra CORE cards in hand. We talk about the nostalgia of opening physical card packs, the newest print run, card quality, deck-building possibilities, and continuing to improve the online version so people can actually play Terra CORE together. NFL Week 1 and World of Warcraft: Forever

Week 1 is in the books, and now we finally have real results to learn from. We recap our fantasy football starts, Travis somehow surviving after losing four wide receivers, and the first official week of Pick 5. We also go through the improvements that now make Pick 5 fully automated. Then we dig deep into what Travis learned from the first real week of the FFS DFS Optimizer. FanDuel finished profitable while DraftKings didn't, and the results exposed some important changes that need to be made. We talk about shrinking the player pool, eliminating dead weight, fixing how the optimizer prioritizes archetype requirements, using last year's stats alongside this year's early results, and why finding the right low-owned value matters more than simply picking obvious stars. On the gaming side, we talk about WoW Forever and why a reimagined version of classic WoW has Travis ready to jump back in. Then it's back to EverQuest Legends as we compare builds, talk Bard melodies, dungeon crawls, and why Paladin/Monk/Bard has become such a monster combination. Finally, the new physical Terra CORE cards have arrived! We talk about what's next for the physical game, improving the digital version, and Travis' new obsession: figuring out how to make digital cards as easy to read on the battlefield as physical cards. Fantasy Draft Results, Fortnite, and Halo

After a week off, we're back just in time for the NFL season. We break down how our fantasy football draft went, some early injuries already causing problems, Pick 5 surviving its first real games, and the last-minute Week 1 news creating some interesting DFS value. Travis also finally gets to put the DFS Optimizer through a real test, generating hundreds of DraftKings and FanDuel lineups with different stacking strategies to see which settings actually produce the best return. We also get into the controversial ending of the Michigan game, international NFL games, and Lee builds his first FanDuel lineup using the optimizer live on the show. Then we shift over to gaming with Dungeon Crawler Carl, Fortnite, Halo, Xbox Cloud Gaming, the problems with Roblox, and getting back into EverQuest Legends now that grouping and leveling have improved. And now that the drafts are finally over, we'll be back next week with the results from Travis' massive Week 1 DFS experiment—assuming chasing the perfect lineup doesn't completely break him first. Going Back to College and Terra CORE Online

This week we're officially getting ready for football season. We talk about the bizarre story involving the 49ers owner, the NFL getting rid of the traditional Pro Bowl Games, former NFL players trying to return to college football, and why the current college football rules have turned into the Wild West. We also look ahead to our nearly 20-year-old fantasy football league, reveal our draft positions, talk Pick 5 updates, and get ready to finally unleash the DFS Optimizer on real NFL games. We also debate why NFL RedZone makes football so much easier to watch. On the gaming side, we get back into Terra CORE, talk about improving the online version so we can play against each other, and even kick around the idea of eventually turning Terra CORE into a full strategy video game. How to use the Final Fantasy Sports DFS Optimizer

This week we put the Final Fantasy Sports DFS Optimizer through a full live tutorial. Travis walks Lee through the entire process—from loading the DraftKings or FanDuel slate and building your player pool to setting player archetypes, stacking rules, ownership, salary ranges, exposure limits, and lineup strategy. Then we generate our lineups in seconds, break down why the optimizer made each pick, and show how to export everything for DraftKings or FanDuel. Before that, we hit some sports news, including the Lakers ownership situation, James Harden's latest contract, NFL injuries, fantasy baseball playoffs, and the never-ending cycle of coaches getting another chance after failing somewhere else. On the gaming side, Lee gives an update on Final Fantasy IV and his EverQuest adventures, we talk Paladin epics and Travis has an update on getting Terra CORE playable online between two different players. Plus, our mysterious first DFS Optimizer subscriber remains unidentified. Whoever you are: we appreciate you. Now we just need subscriber number two. One Year Later, Best Ball 2.0 and the Madden Problem

We made it to one year of Final Fantasy Sports! This week we look back at our first year of the podcast before diving into Best Ball Tutorial 2.0. We break down roster construction, bye-week strategy, why waiting on tight ends can pay off, different contest formats, and Travis' new four-quarterback strategy built around pairing starters with their backups. We also talk fantasy baseball playoffs, preseason overreactions, and why Aaron Rodgers might already need to watch his back in Pittsburgh. On the gaming side, we debate randomness in games, why predetermined outcomes can suck the fun out of roguelikes, and once again ask everyone to please stop buying Madden until EA has some real competition. We kick around ideas for completely different types of NFL games, talk about the future of Terra CORE's online version, and celebrate getting our first DFS Optimizer subscriber that neither of us actually knows!
