Ep. 44 | What Nobody Sees: Recovery, Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

Some of the strongest people are carrying struggles nobody knows about. They show up for work, help everyone around them, make people laugh, and answer “I’m good”—even when they’re quietly falling apart. In recognition of Recovery Month and Suicide Prevention Month, Mason and Daniel have an honest conversation about the pain people carry beneath the surface. Daniel shares his personal experience with suicidal thoughts, while the two discuss addiction, depression, vulnerability, gratitude, and why asking for help can feel so difficult. We talk about: Why getting clean doesn’t automatically remove emotional painThe pressure to appear strong when others depend on youThe difference between honesty and negativityWhy people hide suicidal thoughtsSupporting others without carrying complete responsibility for themFinding reasons to stay when tomorrow feels impossibleChoosing to live for the people and purposes that matter to usRecovery is worth celebrating—but struggling doesn’t erase how far you’ve come. You don’t need perfect words to ask for help. Sometimes the most courageous thing you can say is, “I’m not okay, and I don’t want to be alone right now.” If you’re experiencing a suicidal crisis or are worried about someone else in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department. 🎙️ Clean Life Cast — Where healing becomes a movement. #CleanLifeCast #RecoveryMonth #SuicidePreventionMonth #MentalHealth #AddictionRecovery #RecoveryIsPossible #988Lifeline #CleanLifeCommunity

EP. 43 — Don’t Tell Me You’ve Changed. Show Me.

Can people actually change? Not just get sober. Not just stay out of trouble. Not just learn how to act differently—but fundamentally become a different person? And if real change is possible, there’s another question we have to ask: At what point do we stop paying for the person we used to be? In Episode 43, Mason and Daniel sit down for an honest conversation about change, accountability, trust, self-forgiveness, and redemption. We talk about what it actually takes to prove you've changed, why nobody owes you their trust just because you've apologized, and what happens when the person who still can't let go of your past is you. Daniel opens up about something from his past that he still carries involving his father, and the conversation leads to a realization about what he may need to do to finally find some peace with it. We also get into self-sabotage, imposter syndrome, making amends, learning to accept the person you used to be, and why real transformation isn't about pretending your past never happened. It's about what you choose to do with your life now. “Don't just tell everybody you've changed. Live differently long enough that your life starts speaking for you.” If you're rebuilding your life, learning to forgive yourself, or wondering whether people can truly change, this conversation is for you. 🎙️ Clean Life Cast — Where Healing Becomes a Movement Like, subscribe, and share this episode with somebody who needs to hear it. #CleanLifeCast #Recovery #PersonalGrowth #Redemption #SecondChances #SelfForgiveness #Accountability #AddictionRecovery #Healing #RecoveryCommunity

Ep. 42 - When Does Drinking & Drug Use Become a Problem? | Jeremy Bracken

How do you know when drinking or using drugs has actually become a problem? For a lot of people, there isn't one moment where everything suddenly changes. It happens slowly. In Episode 42 of the Clean Life Cast, Mason sits down with one of his oldest friends, Jeremy Bracken. They grew up four houses apart, met in elementary school, started experimenting with drugs and alcohol young, and eventually went through years of addiction, treatment, relapse, overdose, jail, and recovery. Their friendship survived nearly every version of them. At one point, Jeremy came to Mason while trying to recover and they got high together. Years later, the roles reversed when Mason called Jeremy from jail asking for the information he needed to get into treatment. Today, they're both in recovery—and both work helping other people find their own way forward. This conversation isn't about deciding who is or isn't an “addict.” It's about asking better questions: When does using become a problem? How does something destructive start feeling normal? Why do we compare ourselves to people who are worse? Can you love someone and still enable their destruction? And do you really have to hit rock bottom before deciding something needs to change? If you've ever wondered about your own relationship with drugs or alcohol—or watched someone you love struggle with theirs—this conversation is for you. EP. 41 — Get on the Boat | Jozey Bloomfield on Choosing Yourself & Changing Your Life

Jozey never planned on getting sober. She came to Wasatch Recovery from jail unsure if she even wanted to stay. But through family, friendship, therapy, community, and watching people around her change, she slowly began believing that another life might actually be possible. Then came a moment neither Mason nor Jozey forgot. During an intense treatment exercise, people were being chosen based on who the group believed would stay sober. As the remaining spots disappeared, Jozey stopped waiting for somebody else to choose her. “I don’t care what anybody says. I’m getting on the boat.” Years later, she's still here. Today, Jozey works at Wasatch Recovery, helping people who are standing where she once stood. In Episode 40, we talk about: • Why Jozey never originally intended to get sober • Her history with Daniel before recovery • Family support vs. enabling • Learning to accept help from other people • Therapy and emotional healing • Codependency, marriage and self-love • The “Get on the Boat” story • Choosing recovery for yourself • Finding purpose through helping others • Why community matters when you're trying to change your life Sometimes other people believe in us before we can believe in ourselves. But eventually, we have to choose our own life.
