    Satisfied in His Sovereignty

What does it mean to find lasting satisfaction in Jesus? In this message from our Gospel of John series, Rob Russell explores John 6:35–40, where Jesus calls himself the bread of life and points to the Father’s sovereign grace. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus has done what we could never do for ourselves to bring us into a restored relationship with God. His promise to welcome and keep those who come gives us reason for humility, confidence, and hope. Whether you’ve followed Jesus for years or are still exploring what it means to believe, the invitation is the same: come, rest in his finished work, and be satisfied in him.

    The Practice of Our Work

Colossians 1:15–20 makes sweeping claims about Jesus as creator, sustainer, and reconciler of all things. But those claims have direct, practical implications for the way we approach our jobs, our homes, and our daily responsibilities. In this concluding message from "The Gospel at Work" series, Rob Russell explores three realities from the passage: we work because of Christ, for Christ, and with Christ, addressing the false sacred/secular divide, what it looks like for work to become an idol, and how the cross of Jesus reorients our work from revenue to renewal.

    The Peace for Our Work

What does God's rest after creation actually look like, and what does it have to do with the exhaustion we carry into our work every week? Genesis 2:2–3 and Matthew 11:25–30 are explored in this message, tracing how biblical rest is less about stopping and more about turning our attention toward what God has accomplished. Rob Russell unpacks why Jesus offers a yoke rather than a vacation, and how the peace he promises holds through both the hard days and the good ones.

    The Problem with Our Work

Genesis 3:17–19 tells us that the toil we carry into work every day is not random, it flows from sin's disruption of our most fundamental relationships. The Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:1–9 shows us what that disorder looks like at scale: a productive, unified people building something impressive for entirely wrong reasons. Rob Russell works through both passages to name the deeper hunger underneath our ambition, the search for justification through what we accomplish, and to show why the finished work of Jesus is the only thing sufficient to meet it.

    The Purpose of Our Work

Genesis 1:26–28 and 2:15 take the question of work all the way back to creation, where human beings are made in the image of God and immediately given a mandate to fill and steward the earth. This episode, the first in the series The Gospel At Work, explores what it means that our purpose in work is grounded in identity rather than activity. Rob Russell walks through the cultural mandate and shows how the gospel reorients our relationship to work: when our standing before God rests on Christ's finished work, our jobs become places we live from rather than places we earn our worth.

If God Exists, Then Why Are Catholics and Protestants so Divided?

Why are Catholics and Protestants still divided after five hundred years, and what does that disagreement reveal about the heart of Christianity? In this Questioning Christianity lecture, Rob Russell traces the story from the early church through the Protestant Reformation, considering questions of church history, apostolic succession, and ultimately the doctrine at the center of the divide: justification. While seeking to represent Catholic teaching fairly, Rob presents the historic Protestant case that sinners are declared righteous before God by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone, and argues that our ultimate hope is not found in a denominational label but in Jesus Christ and his saving work.

    The Bread of Life

John 6:30–35 records a crowd asking Jesus for a sign to validate his authority moments after he fed thousands from five loaves of bread. His answer isn't another miracle; it's the first of his seven "I am" statements in John's Gospel: "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst." This message walks through what Jesus is actually offering in the passage, why the crowd kept missing it, and what it looks like for us to receive him not just as a source of provision but as sufficient for every area of life.

    Why Do You Want Him?

John 6:22–29 records the morning after Jesus fed thousands, when the crowd tracked him down across the Sea of Galilee looking for more. Instead of answering their initial question, Jesus names their motive: they came for the bread, not for what the bread was pointing to. This message works through two questions Jesus presses directly on the crowd that are relevant for us today: why do you want him, and how do you think you get him? *This message was re-recorded in the church annex building after the initial Sunday service audio was not usable.
