    When Fear Takes Over: Trusting God, Speaking Truth, and Doing It Scared

    What do you do when you trust God, but you’re still scared? In this episode of Joy in the Junk, Ashlee opens up about her fear of flying and the anxious thoughts that have kept her awake at night. Blair shares what it was like to trust God while her husband, Rick, underwent a heart procedure. Together, they talk honestly about fear, the limits of our control, and the comfort of knowing God is with us in the middle of it all. A message from Ashlee’s pastor leads them to Isaiah 41:10 and a question that stayed with her: Do we trust God with the things happening right now as much as we trust Him with eternity? They also turn to Ezekiel’s valley of dry bones to consider what it means to obey God when a situation looks impossible. The power belonged to God; Ezekiel’s part was to respond to His word. Along the way, Ashlee and Blair talk about the friends who show up without being asked twice, the strength it takes to admit we need help, and why feeling sad or afraid doesn’t mean we’ve lost our faith. They talk about learning to trust the Holy Spirit, watching their words, and remembering that ministry can look different in different seasons. Ashlee also shares two unexpected encounters that encouraged her just when she was wondering whether her work was making a difference.
