    How To Find Purpose & Passion For Service #hero #sacrifice #service #passion #purpose #soldier

He is President & CEO of Beyond The Burn Foundation.  His story of combat service to America is one of heroics and of great cost.  Wounded in battle in Afghanistan, Johnnie Yellock has since turned that setback into a passion for service, with a little help from President George W. Bush. Coming from a dual Veteran family, Johnnie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2007 after completing his undergraduate in Manufacturing Engineering from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. He was a United States Air Force Special Operations Combat Controller and would serve two combat tours in the Middle East. In 2011, on Johnnie’s second deployment to Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle, injuring both of his legs. Johnnie received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Medal for his actions that day. He spent the next three years in rehabilitation and has endured 33 limb-salvage surgeries to date, allowing him to keep both of his legs. During his recovery, Johnnie found that physical pain paled in comparison to the mental, emotional and social traumas that are all too present following such a course-altering event and couldn’t have put himself back together alone. It was the dedication and love of my family and so many friends that ensured my recovery was successful. Johnnie is dedicated to improving the lives of our Nation’s burn survivors while maximizing the impact of every contribution entrusted to the organization. He serves the Beyond the Burn Foundation Board of Directors and is responsible for strategy and goal setting, personnel management, donor relations, grant writing, fellowship funding, event planning, budgeting, forecasting, and most importantly, facilitating burn care programs and procedures tailored to the specific needs of survivors and their families: Past, Present, and Future. Johnnie says, “since leaving the military, I’m still committed to serving, only the uniform has changed”. Today, with a passion for service, corporate and non-profit expertise, love of public speaking and an MBA, Johnnie is humbled to serve fellow veterans, first responders and civilian burn survivors. His goal is to continue the mission, envisioned by Ryan Parrott in 2012, of revolutionizing burn care for all Americans.

How to Connect At-Risk Students with Caring Adults and Community Resources #AtRiskStudents #CommunitySupport #StudentSuccess

Recent studies indicate across north Texas 1 in 2 students are at risk of dropping out of school.  So, what can be done to ensure that does not happen? Dr. Linsey Schafer of Communities in Schools of North Texas believes students need to be connected to caring adults and community resources.  The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Working in 62 schools across three counties, the CISNT evidence-based model connects students to caring adults and community resources to transform how they see and experience the world around them. By surrounding them with a network of trust they can turn to no matter where they are in their journey, CISNT empowers students to confront and overcome personal challenges and structural barriers—so they can take charge of the future they want for themselves, their communities and each other. Through holistic services which address students’ physical, academic, social, emotional, and mental health barriers, CISNT positively impacts student success, with 99% of students staying in school and on track for graduation annually. From weekend food support to professional mental health counseling to college and career readiness and parent and family engagement, CISNT does whatever it takes to empower students to be successful in school and in life. Dr. Linsey Schafer, DSW, LCSW, MSSW, is a nonprofit executive, educator, and community leader dedicated to building stronger communities by investing in children and families. She joined Communities In Schools of North Texas as Chief Advancement Officer in 2024, leading the organization’s fundraising, volunteer engagement, marketing and communications, donor relations, and community partnership strategies, helping expand the resources that support students across North Texas. In addition to her work with Communities In Schools of North Texas, Linsey serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in the University of North Texas Department of Social Work, where she mentors future social workers through field education. An active civic leader, Linsey is a graduate of Leadership Denton Cohort 40, serves on the Steering Committee for Leadership Denton Cohort 42, and is a Denton Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, where she was recognized as Ambassador of the Quarter in 2026. Whether she’s developing strategic partnerships, speaking to community organizations, or mentoring emerging leaders, Linsey believes lasting change happens through collective community impact, creating opportunities for every child to learn, grow, and thrive.

    How to Find a New Way of Living For Your Family #selfsufficient #ranchcommunity #freedom #values #intentionality #healthyliving

Is there a way of life out there filled with freedom, values, intentionality, and healthy living? Visionary and entrepreneur Chase Rolland believes there can be, and he is working to bring families a one-of-a-kind self-sufficient ranch community will do all of those things. The Ranch of Bois D'Arc (www.theranchofboisdarc.com) in rural north Texas gives families the opportunity to own their land, share the farm, and build a legacy.   The community features Homesteads from 1 to 12 acres, paired with a working farm - real ownership, real food, real community. The Ranch crew runs the hard parts so the families get the homestead life without the second (and third…and fourth) job. The Ranch is built by a family that has been building homes and developing subdivisions in Texas for three generations. NfiniteX LLC is the new chapter - carrying that experience into a different kind of community.  The mission is to design and build residential communities around working farms, resilient homes, and shared land - where ownership means real assets that produce, not just appreciate. Chase is the founder and visionary behind The Ranch of Bois D'Arc. He brings together experience in construction, real estate development, entrepreneurship, and community building to create a new model for how families can live. As owner of Neighbors Construction and a partner in 2811 Development, he has spent years leading teams, developing projects, and turning big ideas into real-world execution. That work shaped his belief that communities can be designed to give families more than just a place to live. That vision led to The Ranch of Bois D'Arc, a community built around resilient homes, regenerative agriculture, greater self-reliance, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to creating something meaningful for future generations. Chase's role centers on vision, strategy, partnerships, and bringing together the right people to turn ambitious ideas into reality. He believes the greatest developments are measured not only by the homes and infrastructure they create, but by the families they serve, the communities they strengthen, and the legacy they leave behind. For Chase, The Ranch of Bois D'Arc represents that mission: build more than a home, build a legacy.

    How To Elevate a City with Music, Culture & Entertainment #festival #music #culture #entertainment

One of the most iconic annual events in Denton, Texas, is the Day of the Dead Festival. Longtime Denton resident and music composer, David Pierce, teamed with another longtime local entrepreneur, Marcus Watson, in conducting a massive music, culture, and entertainment gathering.  The iconic DOD Festival is part of the 31 Days of Halloween in Denton each year. Denton’s Day of the Dead festival is a staple of the community, bringing a culturally inclusive and family-focused event to the historic city. From humble beginnings in 2009 with the inaugural performances of Cirque du Horror to the first festival in 2011, the Festival has grown to include E. Hickory and E. Oak Streets as well. Now, festival-goers enjoy great local food & drink, arts & crafts, live music and folk dancing, along with the signature events! Incorporating elements from Día de Muertos, Halloween, and other Fall traditions, Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival embraces the richness of our community fabric like nothing else. David Pierce is a composer/arranger, performer and educator. Graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor's of Music Ed, ('97), and taught in the Southlake (TX) Carroll ISD for 10 years ('97-'07). During that time, he taught beginner band students up to high school age, and started developing a jazz program that eventually consisted of 4 high school and 5 middle school groups, eventually leading to the award winning program that exists currently. In 2009, David created "Cirque du Horror," which is an all ages, family friendly Halloween musical that has performed every October in Denton, TX. Along with that, he serves as Executive Director of Denton's Day of the Dead Festival.  Marcus Watson is Chairman of the Board of Denton's Day of the Dead Festival.  He is very involved in supporting community acitivites and events. How to Find Vision, Passion, Clarity, & Belief in Yourself and Your Business #vision #growth #passion

What do companies struggle with the most? Growth strategy...operations management...and more.  Jason Dominguez and Greg King help companies find OTHER underlying challenges.  They suggest perhaps it is more about finding vision, passion, clairty, and belief. Jason is Co-Founder and CAO of Cardinal Communication Strategies. He has spent his career working inside industries — not consulting from the outside. Print. Technology. Education. Manufacturing. IT. Each one taught him something different about how businesses actually operate, and what keeps good ones stuck. The pattern he kept seeing was the same everywhere. It was never a lack of effort. It was a lack of aligned relationships — with the right people, inside and outside the business. He didn't graduate from high school — fear of public speaking. He finished college third in his class, Magna Cum Laude, and spent 10 years teaching speech. That arc taught him, more about growth and showing up than anything else ever did. What he carried out of all of it: when you have something genuinely worth sharing, you don't sell it. You tell it. The right relationships find their way to you naturally — and you build them with intention. That's what Cardinal Community Strategies was built on. Greg is a visionary, storyteller, and founder of Ouchless Productions, an end-to-end production company that specializes in creating and producing story-driven content for athletes, brands, and businesses.  He helps nonprofits, brands, businesses, and athletes, tell their stories, and turn it into meaningful and measurable engagement.
