Healing Through Disappointment: Trusting God When You're Still Waiting

Have you ever prayed faithfully, tried to walk in obedience, and waited patiently, only to watch someone else receive the very thing you've been asking God for? Have you ever wondered, “God, did You forget about me?” Waiting can be difficult enough on its own. But when you're watching others experience answered prayers, open doors, breakthroughs, and blessings you still long for, the waiting can begin to feel personal. It can stir up disappointment, confusion, discouragement, and questions you're sometimes afraid to admit. But what if your waiting season isn't empty? What if God is still working, even when you cannot see the evidence yet? In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, Priscilla Allman explores how to heal through disappointment and continue trusting God when you're still waiting. Through the story of Hannah and the wisdom of Scripture, we explore how to bring our pain honestly before God, resist the trap of comparison, surrender our timelines, and find strength in the assurance that God has not forgotten us. What Hannah's Story Teaches Us About Waiting One of the most powerful biblical examples of waiting through disappointment is Hannah. In 1 Samuel 1, we see a woman who deeply longed for a child and carried the pain of an unanswered prayer for years. Her disappointment was made even harder by watching others experience what she desired. Yet Hannah didn't hide her pain from God. 1 Samuel 1:10 tells us that she prayed to the Lord in the bitterness of her soul and wept in anguish. Her story reminds us that healing doesn't begin with pretending we're okay. It begins when we bring our honest feelings, questions, and disappointments before God. And in 1 Samuel 1:19, we read that “the Lord remembered her.” Hannah's story reminds us that we are not necessarily forgotten simply because an answer has not yet arrived. In This Episode, We Explore: Trusting God's timing: Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that God makes everything beautiful in its time. Learning to trust Him means surrendering the timeline we imagined and believing that His wisdom extends beyond what we can currently see.Bringing disappointment to God: Like Hannah, we can bring our tears, frustrations, and unmet expectations into His presence rather than hiding them.Overcoming comparison: Galatians 6:4 encourages us to examine our own lives rather than measuring our progress against someone else's. Your journey does not have to look like another person's for God to be working in it.Recognizing God's work in the waiting: Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Waiting can become a season of spiritual growth, deeper faith, and preparation.Learning to surrender the timeline: Psalm 27:14 encourages us to wait on the Lord, be courageous, and trust Him to strengthen our hearts. Surrender doesn't mean giving up on what you desire; it means trusting God with when and how your story unfolds. What If God Hasn't Forgotten You? If you're in a waiting season, it's easy to interpret someone else's breakthrough as evidence that you've been overlooked. But another person's answered prayer does not mean God has run out of goodness for you. You can celebrate someone else's blessing while still acknowledging your own disappointment. You can keep praying even when you're tired of waiting. You can admit that you don't understand God's timing without abandoning your trust in His character. Your story is not behind. Your story is not forgotten. And your prayers are not unheard. Psalm 27:14 reminds us that waiting requires courage. It takes courage to keep believing when the answer hasn't arrived, to keep praying when others are celebrating, and to keep trusting when you cannot see what God is doing. So, if you're waiting for an opportunity, a breakthrough, healing, restoration, or an answer to a prayer you've carried for a long time, let this episode remind you that you are not alone. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep bringing your disappointment to God. His goodness toward your life has not expired, and you do not have to measure your journey by someone else's timeline. Waiting may test your faith, but it can also deepen your trust in the God who never forgets His promises. 🎧 Listen to “Healing Through Disappointment: Trusting God When You're Still Waiting” and be encouraged to navigate disappointment, release comparison, and remain anchored in God's faithfulness—even when the answer hasn't come yet. The Anchor Effect Part 2: Staying Anchored When Pressure Increases

What happens when the pressure doesn't go away—but instead, it increases? In the first part of The Anchor Effect, we explored how the life of Daniel teaches us to remain grounded in purpose even when life introduces storms. But knowing that we should stay anchored and actually staying anchored when pressure rises are two different things. Pressure has a way of testing our convictions. It can tempt us to compromise, question whether standing firm is worth it, and choose what feels safest in the moment. But Daniel's life gives us a powerful picture of what it looks like to remain steady when the pressure increases. In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, Priscilla Allman takes us deeper into Daniel's story and explores what his life teaches us about conviction, spiritual discipline, integrity, trust, and remaining faithful when obedience comes with a cost. As this episode reminds us: “Storms test ships, but anchors reveal leaders.” 🎧 Listen to “The Anchor Effect Part 2: Staying Anchored When Pressure Increases” and discover what Daniel's life teaches us about standing firm, resisting compromise, trusting God, and remaining grounded when the pressure rises. 👉 Listen to more episodes of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast at www.purposeofheartpodcast.com Scriptures Referenced: Daniel 1:8 — Daniel purposes in his heart not to compromiseDaniel 6:4 — Daniel's integrity and faithfulnessDaniel 6:10 — Daniel's consistent practice of prayerDaniel 6:22 — God shuts the mouths of the lionsDaniel 3 — Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnaceReflection Question: What convictions do you need to settle in your heart now so that you can remain anchored when pressure increases? #PurposeOfHeart #PurposeOfHeartPodcast #TheAnchorEffect #Daniel #BookOfDaniel #ChristianPodcast #FaithPodcast #ChristianEncouragement #StayAnchored #AnchoredInGod #FaithInTheStorm #TrustGod #ChristianLiving #BiblicalLeadership #ChristianLeadership #Integrity #Faithfulness #Prayer #GodIsFaithful #FaithJourney

The Anchor Effect: What the Life of Daniel Teaches Us About Staying Grounded in the Storm

What keeps you grounded when everything around you is changing? Life will bring storms. There will be seasons of pressure, uncertainty, disappointment, comparison, responsibility, and unexpected transitions. But what if the goal isn't to avoid every storm? What if the real question is whether you are anchored enough not to drift when the storm comes? In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, Priscilla Allman explores “The Anchor Effect” through the life of Daniel and what his story teaches us about staying grounded when circumstances are constantly shifting. You are not designed only for calm waters. You were built to remain anchored through the storm. The anchor doesn't necessarily stop the storm. It stops the drift. And that is the heart of this episode. 👉 Listen to more episodes of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast at www.purposeofheartpodcast.com Scriptures Referenced: Daniel 1:8 — Daniel purposes in his heart not to compromise Daniel 6:10 — Daniel remains committed to prayer despite pressure Psalm 37:23 — God orders the steps of His people Reflection Question: What are you currently anchored to—and is that anchor strong enough to keep you from drifting when the storm comes? #PurposeOfHeart #PurposeOfHeartPodcast #TheAnchorEffect #Daniel #BookOfDaniel #ChristianPodcast #FaithPodcast #ChristianEncouragement #AnchoredInGod #StayAnchored #FaithInTheStorm #BiblicalLeadership #PurposeDriven #ChristianLeadership #TrustGod #GodsPurpose #FaithJourney #ChristianLiving

How Faith Changes the Way We Respond

What if faith isn’t just about what we believe, but about how we respond when life doesn’t go the way we expected? Life will bring pressure. People will disappoint us. Circumstances will catch us off guard. We will experience uncertainty, conflict, waiting, disappointment, and moments when our emotions want to take control. Faith does not mean that these things stop happening. Instead, faith changes what happens between the moment and our response. In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, Priscilla Allman explores how faith changes the way we respond—especially when we are stretched by difficult people, unexpected circumstances, anxiety, conflict, and seasons of waiting. Jesus never promised us a life without trouble. In John 16:33, He reminds us that we will have tribulation in this world, but He has overcome the world. Our faith does not require us to deny what is happening. It teaches us to see our circumstances through the reality of God's presence. Think about the disciples in the boat during the storm. They were afraid, but Jesus was with them. When they cried out, He spoke, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39). The storm was real, but so was His presence—and He was completely in control. Faith creates a pause before a reaction. Instead of immediately responding from fear, anger, hurt, anxiety, or frustration, faith gives us an opportunity to stop and ask, “What response would honor God in this moment?” In this episode, we explore how faith can change: • The way we respond under pressure — Proverbs 16:32 reminds us of the strength found in being slow to anger and ruling our spirit. • The way we speak — Proverbs 18:21 teaches that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Faith calls us to speak words that align with God's truth rather than our fear. • The way we handle conflict — Romans 12:17–18 encourages us not to repay evil for evil and, as far as it depends on us, to live peaceably with others. Faith does not mean ignoring boundaries; it means choosing grace over revenge. • The way we handle uncertainty — Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord rather than leaning completely on our own understanding. We may not have all the answers, but we can trust the One who does. • The way we respond to anxiety — Philippians 4:6–7 invites us to bring our requests to God through prayer and thanksgiving, allowing His peace to guard our hearts and minds. • The way we respond during waiting seasons — James 1:2–4 reminds us that the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Waiting is not necessarily wasted time. God can still be working while nothing appears to be changing. Faith doesn't always change the circumstance immediately. But it can change how we walk through the circumstance. It can teach us to choose prayer instead of panic, restraint instead of retaliation, hope instead of defeat, obedience instead of emotion, and trust instead of control. So this week, consider creating a pause before you respond. Pray silently before reacting. Ask yourself, “What response reflects trust in God right now?” Speak Scripture over difficult situations. Choose obedience even when your emotions are strong. And remember God's faithfulness in previous seasons. As Psalm 37:5 reminds us, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” You may not be able to control what happens around you, but with God's help, you can surrender how you respond. Faith doesn't remove the moment. It redeems the response. And when faith leads your response, God is glorified, your heart is guarded, and your life becomes a reflection of the One you trust. If you've been feeling stretched by people, circumstances, uncertainty, conflict, or situations that have caught you off guard, this episode is for you. 🎧 Listen to “How Faith Changes the Way We Respond” and be encouraged to put faith at the center of every response. 👉 Listen to more episodes of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast at www.purposeofheartpodcast.com Scriptures Mentioned: John 16:33 Mark 4:35–41 Proverbs 16:32 Proverbs 18:21 Romans 12:17–18 Proverbs 3:5–6 Philippians 4:6–7 James 1:2–4 Psalm 37:5 #PurposeOfHeart #PurposeOfHeartPodcast #HowFaithChangesTheWayWeRespond #ChristianPodcast #FaithPodcast #ChristianEncouragement #FaithInGod #TrustGod #PrayerOverPanic #BiblicalEncouragement #ChristianLiving #FaithJourney #GodIsFaithful #WalkingByFaith

    Faith After Disappointment

What happens to your faith when life doesn’t unfold the way you prayed it would? Sometimes disappointment isn’t loud. It’s the quiet ache that sits in your heart when the door you prayed would open stays closed, the healing takes longer than expected, the clarity never comes, or the restoration you hoped for doesn’t look the way you imagined. And in those moments, it’s natural to wonder, “God, what happened? Did I hear You wrong? Why didn’t this turn out the way I believed?”  In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, Priscilla Allman explores what it means to hold onto faith when disappointment challenges your expectations. Because sometimes the hardest part of trusting God isn’t believing that He can do something—it’s trusting Him when He chooses to do something differently than you expected. But disappointment doesn’t mean God has stopped working. Psalm 62:8 reminds us to trust in Him at all times and pour out our hearts before Him. You don’t have to hide your disappointment from God or pretend that everything is okay. You can come to Him honestly and still be held by Him. We also look at Isaiah 55:8–9, which reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours. There are things God sees that we cannot see, and sometimes what feels like a detour is actually direction. Through the story of Joseph in Genesis 50:20, we’re reminded that circumstances don’t always reveal what God is doing behind the scenes. Joseph experienced betrayal, false accusation, and imprisonment—even though God had already given him a vision for his future. What looked like delay was actually preparation. What looked like loss was positioning. And Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him—not just the things that make sense to us, but even the closed doors, unexpected delays, disappointments, and detours. This episode is an encouragement for anyone who is struggling to reconcile what they prayed for with what actually happened. Maybe you’re learning to release the version of life you expected. Maybe you’re waiting for God to make sense of a season that still feels confusing. Or maybe disappointment has made you afraid to hope again. Wherever you are, remember this: God has not forgotten you. He has not overlooked your prayers. He has not abandoned your story. Proverbs 3:5–6 calls us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. We may not understand the timing. We may not see the full picture. But our limited understanding does not change the character of an unlimited God. Sometimes letting go isn’t giving up. It’s making room—for new direction, new understanding, new growth, and whatever God is doing now. And one day, you may look back and realize that what didn’t happen was just as significant as what did. If you’re walking through disappointment right now, let this episode remind you that just because it didn’t happen your way doesn’t mean God isn’t working. His way is always purposeful. 🎧 Watch/listen to “Faith After Disappointment” and be encouraged to trust God even when His plan looks different from yours. How God Meets Us in Our Weakest Moments

What happens when you reach the point where you realize you simply don’t have the strength to keep carrying everything on your own? There are seasons when we feel strong, capable, and confident in our ability to handle whatever comes our way. But there are also moments when the weight becomes too much—when we feel emotionally exhausted, spiritually drained, discouraged, overwhelmed, or simply unsure of how to keep going. And sometimes, weakness can make us question where God is. But what if our weakest moments are not moments when God steps away? What if they are moments where His presence becomes even more evident? In this episode of Purpose of Heart: The Podcast, we explore the reality of meeting God in places where our own strength runs out. Scripture reminds us that God’s strength is made perfect in weakness, and that we were never designed to navigate every season through our own ability. We’ll talk about what it means to stop hiding our weakness from God, to surrender the pressure to have everything figured out, and to recognize that needing God is not a failure—it is an invitation to trust Him more deeply. Your weakness does not disqualify you. Your exhaustion does not make you less faithful. And the season that has brought you to your knees may become the very place where you discover just how faithfully God has been holding you. If you’ve been feeling tired, overwhelmed, discouraged, or like you simply don’t have enough left to give, this conversation is a reminder: you do not have to be strong enough on your own. God meets you right there—in the weakness, in the weariness, and in the moments when all you can do is say, “Lord, I need You.” 🎙️ Listen to Purpose of Heart: The Podcast and be reminded that even in your weakest moments, you are never beyond the reach of God’s grace, strength, and presence.
