ShakeDown Radio with Chris Caggs — 30 Years of Australian Dance, Hip Hop & RnB Broadcasting ShakeDown Radio with Chris Caggs is the evolution of a three‑decade journey through Australia’s dance, hip hop, RnB, and electronic music culture. Hosted by Chris Carragher, known nationwide as Chris Caggs, the show blends EDM, House, Dance, Hip Hop, and RnB into a globally syndicated mixshow shaped by one of Australia’s most enduring radio voices. Chris began his career in July 1998 on Pump FM 99.3FM, Australia’s first Hip Hop & RnB community station, co‑hosting with Mista‑C and introducing late‑night audiences to slow jams and emerging urban sounds. He later joined DJ‑FM 87.6FM, broadcasting across Sydney with a powerhouse team supported by Telstra, Central Station Records, SBA Music, Pulse Music, Carlton & United Breweries, and Noizenet. From 1999 to 2001, Chris became a key presenter on Groove FM 96.9 & 94.5 Sydney and Groove FM 97.3 Brisbane, broadcasting from the iconic Wild FM studios and later Pulse FM’s Coorparoo studios. In Sydney, he worked closely with Darren Leigh, Fabrizio Vilardo, Mike Scott, Rodney O, Joe Tannous, Bessie Barker, Yvette Duncan, Osher Gunsberg, Zoe Naylor, Natasha Zuvela, DJ Ian Spicer, DJ Sefu, DJ Nino Brown, MC Waxx, MC Maurice, and Ted Vassell. A major milestone came in Easter 2002, when Chris worked as assistant promoter with Brisbane’s Added Flava and Fez Lateef under The Urban Authority, serving as GLO for two major Sydney events: Minc Lounge and Seventh Day at Hunter Bar. Chris expanded nationally through 2RDJ‑FM 88.1, hosting Saturday Shakedown, Tuesday Shakedown, and Tuesday Overdrive, syndicated to more than 200 community stations via the CBAA/ComRad Satellite. He also brought Hip Hop & RnB to Sydney’s North Shore through Thursday Flavours on 2NSB FM 99.3.
