Washington State vs. Utah State: Which Pac-12 Team Is in BIGGER TROUBLE?

Boise State vs. Fresno State headlines a huge weekend of Pac-12 football, while Oregon State looks to continue its offensive dominance against San Diego State and Washington State faces Utah State in a critical matchup between struggling programs. Colton Poole of The Poole Report joins Locked On Pac-12 for a complete preview of all three conference games. The Milk Can rivalry takes center stage as Boise State travels to Fresno State. Spencer Danielson's Broncos have emerged as a College Football Playoff contender behind Maddox Madsen and Dylan Riley, who leads the nation with 685 rushing yards. But Matt Entz has Fresno State playing physical football, and the Bulldogs have won three straight meetings in the rivalry. Can Boise State finally reclaim the Milk Can, or will Fresno State deliver a major upset? Meanwhile, Oregon State might be playing the best football in the new Pac-12. Brayden Atkinson is coming off a remarkable performance against Colorado State, completing 31 of 34 passes for 427 yards and five touchdowns. Jesse LeGree continues to emerge as one of college football's most explosive receivers, while JaMarcus Shephard's offensive line has allowed just one sack over the last three games. Can Sean Lewis and San Diego State slow down the Beavers after an emotional comeback victory over Texas State? We also break down Washington State vs. Utah State, where both teams enter at 1-4 with major quarterback questions. Kirby Moore is taking over Washington State's offensive play-calling, while Bronco Mendenhall continues searching for answers between Grady Brosterhous and McCae Hillstead. Could this game determine which program has a chance to salvage its season? We discuss coaching pressure, quarterback decisions, offensive line play, defensive improvements, betting spreads and predictions for all three Pac-12 matchups. Three games. Six teams. One important weekend for the new Pac-12. #Pac12 #BoiseState #CollegeFootball Photo Credit: Joe Nicholson, James Snook -IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Boise State CONTROLS Its Own College Football Playoff Destiny

Boise State football controls its own College Football Playoff destiny, but the Milk Can rivalry against Fresno State could determine whether the Broncos remain the clear favorite for the Group of 6 playoff spot. Boise State's lone loss came in a close game against Oregon, while wins over Memphis and Western Michigan have strengthened a résumé that could be difficult for another Group of 6 contender to overcome. If the Broncos reach 12-1 with a Pac-12 championship, is there anyone capable of taking the playoff bid away? Colton Poole of The Poole Report joins Locked On Pac-12 to break down Boise State's position compared to James Madison, New Mexico, North Dakota State and UTSA. We also debate whether Boise State could survive a second loss and still remain in the CFP conversation. Oregon State creates another fascinating question. The Beavers have emerged as a Pac-12 contender, but losses to Houston and Texas Tech demonstrate why future nonconference scheduling could become critical for JaMarcus Shepard as Oregon State attempts to build a playoff-caliber résumé. Then we get into the Pac-12 vs. Mountain West debate after Nevada head coach Jeff Choate claimed the Mountain West will be better than the new Pac-12. With Boise State, Oregon State, Fresno State and Washington State leading the new conference, is there actually an argument that the Mountain West will be better? Boise State has the inside track. But one loss could completely reopen the Group of 6 playoff race. #BoiseState #Pac12 #CollegeFootball Photo Credit: Troy Wayrynen -IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Protect College Sports Act Could CHANGE the Pac-12’s Future

The Protect College Sports Act has passed the U.S. Senate, but what could it actually mean for the Pac-12, conference realignment and the future of college athletics? College sports law expert Sam Ehrlich joins Locked On Pac-12 to break down where the legislation stands, why getting through the Senate was significant and the major obstacles it still faces in the House. The Pac-12 has publicly supported the legislation, but there are major questions about whether the bill actually provides meaningful protection against another wave of conference realignment. Ehrlich explains the three-year sunset provision, potential changes to the proposed conference membership cap, the one-time transfer rule and why he believes parts of the legislation could face constitutional questions. There's also a major timing problem. If the House makes material changes, the legislation would have to return to the Senate, creating another hurdle before the next Congress begins. Then we turn back to football. Boise State continues to establish itself as one of the strongest teams in the Pac-12 behind Maddox Madsen, Dylan Riley and a talented defense. But there are concerns about explosive plays allowed by the secondary as the Broncos prepare for the Milk Can rivalry against Fresno State. Could Boise State vs. Fresno State become the Pac-12 Game of the Year? And could Oregon State's explosive passing attack eventually present an even bigger problem for the Broncos? We break down the legislation, the Pac-12 implications and Boise State's path forward. #Pac12 #BoiseState #CollegeSports Photo Credit: Kenny Holston-Pool-IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! San Diego State’s New-Look Roster Has SERIOUS Upside Heading into NEW Pac-12

San Diego State basketball enters the new Pac-12 with NCAA Tournament expectations, but Brian Dutcher faces one of the biggest roster rebuilds of his tenure after the Aztecs missed March Madness last season. San Diego State returns only 17% of its minutes after losing significant talent to the transfer portal. That lack of continuity becomes even more concerning after Rice transfer Nick Anderson, who averaged 15 points per game last season, suffered a knee injury that could cost him essentially the entire year. So who steps up? Elzie Harrington and Tay Simmons are two important returning sophomores who could take major leaps. Harrington shot nearly 44% from three last season, while Simmons has an opportunity to emerge as one of San Diego State's breakout players. The Aztecs also added massive 7-footer Bear Cherry, Boston University transfer Chance Gladden, Latrell Davis and Oregon State transfer Isaiah Sy. International additions could become critical as well, particularly Italian guard David Torresani, who played professionally as a teenager and shot 38% from three. And San Diego State isn't easing this new roster into the season. The Aztecs have exhibitions against Arizona, USC and Long Beach State before a loaded non-conference schedule featuring Colorado, the Players Era Festival, UNLV, BYU and UCLA. Then comes the new Pac-12. Gonzaga enters as the team to beat. Utah State looks dangerous. Colorado State brings significantly more continuity. San Diego State could finish second in this league, but fourth isn't unrealistic either. Can Dutcher put everything together quickly enough to get the Aztecs back into the NCAA Tournament? #SanDiegoState #Aztecs #Pac12 Photo Credit: Isaiah J. Gonzaga’s Davis Fogle Just Put the Pac-12 on NOTICE at Kraziness in the Kennel

Gonzaga basketball's Davis Fogle exploded for 30 points at Craziness in the Kennel, while Utah State basketball landed another historic commitment as the new Pac-12 continues to build serious basketball talent. Fogle was the star of Gonzaga's preseason showcase. The sophomore scored 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting and went 6-of-7 from three in only a 20-minute scrimmage. He also jumped over 7-foot-1 Moussa Diop to win the dunk contest. After averaging 8.6 points in roughly 17 minutes per game as a freshman, Fogle now has a significantly larger role waiting for him. Could he average 16, 17 or even 20 points per game? Could he become an All-American and eventual first-round NBA Draft pick? He wasn't Gonzaga's only standout. Houston transfer Isaiah Harwell scored 17 points and went 4-of-5 from three, potentially making his case for a starting role. Diop showed the rim protection Gonzaga expected, although his offensive game remains a work in progress. Braden Huff should remain a major piece of Mark Few's offense as well. Then there's Utah State. Ben Jacobson hasn't coached a game for the Aggies yet, but Utah State just landed four-star King-Rachell, a top-50 prospect who chose the Aggies over programs including Oregon and San Diego State. That comes only weeks after Utah State landed Crew Fotheringham. The two are now the highest-rated commitments in program history. Could Gonzaga and Utah State eventually become the two programs fighting at the top of Pac-12 basketball? The conference's basketball future is getting interesting fast. #Gonzaga #UtahState #Pac12 Photo Credit: Craig Strobeck-IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Oregon State Might Be the MOST IMPRESSIVE Team in College Football

Oregon State football has gone from 2-10 to one of the most impressive turnaround stories in college football, and JaMarcus Shepard has needed only five games to completely raise the standard in Corvallis. The Beavers are already 3-2 after winning just two games all of last season, but the record doesn't fully explain how different this program looks. Oregon State just demolished Colorado State 56-26 in its Pac-12 opener. Brayden Atkinson threw for 427 yards and five touchdowns, Jesse LeGree caught five passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns, and the running game finally broke through. LeGree has become one of college football's biggest stories. The freshman sits second nationally with 741 receiving yards, trailing Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith by only 82 yards despite having 16 fewer receptions. The conversation about LeGree belonging among the best receivers in the country is becoming impossible to ignore. But this turnaround goes beyond the offense. Oregon State's defense continues to improve under Mike MacIntyre and Court Dennison, creating pressure and disruption despite injuries in the secondary. More importantly, Shepard has changed the expectations. A 30-point Pac-12 win isn't enough anymore. Players and coaches are immediately talking about what needs to improve. The surprise phase is over. Oregon State expects to contend. Next comes San Diego State, which rallied from behind to beat Texas State 31-29 despite significant availability issues. The Aztecs bring a tougher defensive challenge to Corvallis and another opportunity for Oregon State to prove this turnaround is real. Five games into the Shepard era, Oregon State isn't simply better. The entire standard has changed. #OregonState #BeaversFootball #Pac12 Photo Credit: Troy Taormina -IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! INSANE: Colorado State FIRED Its Defensive Coordinator DURING the Game?!

Colorado State football made one of the wildest coaching changes you'll ever see during its 56-spot allowed against Oregon State. Defensive coordinator Tyson Summers was relieved of his play-calling duties during the game. According to Jim Mora, Summers then made the decision to leave the field and is no longer with the Colorado State football program. That's an unbelievable sequence. But something clearly had to change. Colorado State allowed 59 points against UTSA and followed it by surrendering 56 to Oregon State. That's 115 points over two games and an average of 57.5 points allowed. The timing is bizarre, but the Rams now enter their bye week with an opportunity to completely reset defensively. Kenny McClendon will take over defensive play-calling duties moving forward before Colorado State faces Texas State in a critical Pac-12 matchup. Summers' departure also ends an interesting connection to the previous regime. He served as interim head coach after Jay Norvell was fired before ultimately being retained on Mora's staff. Colorado State tried continuity. Five games into the season, Mora decided it wasn't working. #ColoradoState #Pac12 #CollegeFootball Photo Credit: Isaiah J. Oregon State Is About to PROVE It’s a Pac-12 Contender

Oregon State football has been one of the biggest early surprises in the Pac-12, and now the Beavers have a chance to make a statement against Colorado State in Fort Collins. It's time to start taking Oregon State seriously. Braden Atkinson has been outstanding at quarterback, throwing for nearly 1,500 yards with 11 touchdowns and only two interceptions through four games. Then there's freshman Jesse LeGree. LeGree already has 585 receiving yards, and even double coverage hasn't been enough to consistently slow him down. Add Aaron Butler, Bubba Hampton, Eric Olson and AJ Newberry, and Oregon State suddenly has an offense that can attack defenses from everywhere. Now comes Pac-12 play. Colorado State's defense just surrendered 59 points against UTSA, creating an opportunity for Oregon State to finally establish its running game while continuing to unleash one of the conference's most dangerous passing attacks. There are concerns. Oregon State's secondary is extremely thin, and Colorado State showed it can create explosive plays offensively. But this doesn't look like the Oregon State team we've watched struggle in recent seasons. The Beavers look dangerous. Win convincingly in Fort Collins, and Oregon State shouldn't just be considered a nice early-season story. They belong in the Pac-12 contender conversation. #OregonState #Pac12 #Beavers Photo Credit: Kevin Neri-IMAGN Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
