When the Beliefs That Built Your Life Begin to Move

What happens when you begin questioning not simply what you believe, but the beliefs that have quietly helped organise your entire life? In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, I share something I am currently living through: a deep re-evaluation of beliefs around spirituality, purpose, responsibility, identity, safety and how life itself works. Some beliefs are consciously chosen. Others are inherited through family, religion and culture, or absorbed so deeply that we stop recognising them as beliefs at all. They become structural — part of the architecture from which we understand ourselves and the world. And when one of those beliefs begins to move, much more can move with it. I explore why inconsistencies within our beliefs can be so difficult to recognise, why we may assume we have failed to understand rather than questioning the framework itself, and why changing a structural belief can feel genuinely painful and disorientating. I also share a very personal realisation about my lifelong search for answers: beneath genuine curiosity may also have been a hope that if I could understand the rules of life, I could make life more predictable — and therefore safer. Perhaps knowledge was being asked to provide something it could never actually guarantee. This episode isn't about replacing one belief system with another. I don't have a shiny new collection of answers to offer. Instead, I'm exploring the possibility that we can ask: What have I built around what I believe? What does this belief ask me to pursue, tolerate or take responsibility for? Who does it tell me I am? And what happens if I discover that it no longer satisfies me? Sometimes the most truthful answer may simply be: I don't know. Perhaps UNKNOWN isn't a failure to find the answer. Perhaps sometimes it's room. Room to question. Room to choose. Room to change. Room to find our own way. 🎙️ Journeys Beyond with Shamarie Shamarie Flavel | Field Explorer & Mystic Interpreter of Living Patterns

    The Power of My Hands

    ## How Do We Know What We Know? What happens when you've been doing something for so long that you no longer consciously know **how** you know what you know? This episode grew from my recent blog, *The Hand Looks Simple Now: What 30+ Years Taught Me to Notice*, and from an unexpected experience I've had while working with AI: being repeatedly asked to explain the **how and why** behind work that has become deeply embodied over more than three decades. We explore the difference between knowledge and embodied knowing, intuition and pattern recognition, and why expertise may have less to do with having all the answers and more to do with recognising when the map no longer fits the territory. I also share how the process of reverse-engineering my own knowing led somewhere I hadn't expected — into articulating the deeper worldview beneath my work and, eventually, writing another book, ***The Way to Freedom and the Way Home***, which will be released soon. In this episode: * How knowledge becomes embodied through years of practice * Why my hands have become an interface for much of my work * What AI taught me by continually asking, “But why?” * The difference between useful structure and rigid prescription * Why experienced practitioners still need to say “I don't know” * What happens when a familiar map reaches the edge of its usefulness * How our own unexplained knowing can become an invitation to enquiry * The unexpected journey from explaining my work to writing *The Way to Freedom and the Way Home* Perhaps we don't always need to immediately explain what we know. Sometimes the first step is simply to notice what we're noticing. **Notice the pattern. Change what's possible.** ### Mentioned in this episode **Blog:** *The Hand Looks Simple Now: What 30+ Years Taught Me to Notice* **Coming soon:** *The Way to Freedom and the Way Home* ### Connect with Shamarie Explore my work, courses, readings and healing sessions at **Shamarie.com.au** Follow me on Facebook and Instagram: **@ShamarieFlavelEnergy** *Journeys Beyond with Shamarie* explores healing, consciousness, embodied wisdom and the wonderfully complicated experience of being human.

The Quiet Wisdom of Emergent Integration

What happens when the healing has worked — but your sense of who you are hasn’t quite caught up? In this episode of Journeys Beyond with Shamarie, I explore something I’ve begun calling Emergent Integration: the quieter process that can unfold when life expands, old identities stop fitting, and the person you’ve been becoming begins asking to be acknowledged. Unlike directed healing, Emergent Integration doesn’t necessarily begin with a wound, problem or belief that needs changing. Sometimes nothing has gone wrong. Something new is simply taking shape. We explore the identities we have outgrown, the versions of ourselves we expected to become but never lived, and the surprising difficulty of recognising growth once it has become familiar. Perhaps integration is not about becoming someone new at all. Perhaps it is about allowing our identity to become large enough — and accurate enough — to include who we have already become. In this episode: What can happen after healing The difference between directed healing and Emergent Integration Why identity can lag behind genuine personal change Grieving identities and futures that were never lived Why we often minimise growth once it feels ordinary Learning to stay with uncertainty while something new emerges The wisdom of allowing seemingly contradictory truths to coexist Questions to sit with: Who have you quietly become that you haven’t yet fully acknowledged? What identity are you still carrying long after it stopped fitting? Is there an unlived version of you that still deserves compassion? And what if nothing has gone wrong? Healing creates the space. Integration teaches us how to live within it. Journeys Beyond with Shamarie — exploring the patterns, possibilities and deeper questions that shape the way we live.
