The con artist initially gave her a $500,000 check, but Jen became suspicious and investigated him with the help of a private investigator and attorney. After discovering the con artist was wanted in multiple states, Jen contacted law enforcement, leading to his arrest by the Secret Service in Baltimore. The man was eventually extradited to Western Maryland, where he was killed in jail after suing Jen for the computers he didn't receive. Jen explained that the Secret Service became involved due to the interstate nature of the financial crimes, though she felt they could have been more responsive to her concerns about the situation. Personal Anecdotes and Collectibles Jen and Crystal shared personal anecdotes about unusual experiences. While Jen tried to diagnose the technical issues. They talked about Elections in Canada Provincial vs civic elections When they are in October and should Jen run for a MLA seat. How our elections work Parliamentary that who ever wins the riding adds to the who ever wins the most ridings forms government Crystal asked about if Jen ran for office would people be like she is an American not true Canadian. They had a long discussion about straight women and relationships with men. Lesbians who were new and were in past straight relationships and Lesbians who went straight referred to as “Hasbiens” They talked about music: Sharon Van Etten and the documentary Crystal was going to watch ( Rebel Hearts)and the Song Conjunction Jen mentioned Ella Bright Baby now that I've found you, Carly Simons new album and a track and how she won’t be touring this new album that was released in August of 2026 Comes in Waves, Phoebe Bridgers Song Other plans from Lost weekend and Sara Barellis new album and what it is about etc talked about the entire album and the premise and how the song HOME came about. Jen discussed the use of music on the podcast and how she used Karla Bonoffs Goodbye my friend as the music for the Eagle tribute to Jackie the Bald Eagle of Big bear. Jen noted that she thinks Karla must have approved the use of the usbc because it was not yanked down by YouTube.

    It was an eventful week for Jen and Crystal. Crystal discussed two property issues affecting her neighborhoods. Regarding her rental property, a tenant's lease is ending in October due to the person exhibiting schizophrenic behaviour. She also described problems with a nearby abandoned house near her house in the OS from the house owned by “Utah” that has been attracting squatters for four years, with the owner refusing to maintain or secure the property despite ongoing criminal activity. Jen mentioned attending a campaign benefit for Vera. Jen also mentioned Vera had another event that Michael Buble was a part of but she had to leave early and was unable to tell Michael Buble that he should be on Jen and Crystals podcast podcast as Jen had hoped …ha ha. Crystal and Jen had a casual conversation about music festivals they had attended, with Crystal sharing details about her experiences at Sasquatch Festival in 2008 and Lollapalooza in 1991. They discussed Sarah McLaughlin's Lilith Fair and a recent all-female festival called Daisy Chain Fields. The conversation then shifted to personal topics, including Jen’s childhood experience of wanting to run away from home and Crystals efforts to help her mother find affordable housing options closer to their family when she retires in November. The discussion concluded with Jen mentioning their podcast's one-year anniversary and recent listening analytics showing increased interest from locations like Santa Clara, California.

    This weeks episode we discuss Crystal and Dinas experience participating in the Emerald Downs Dachshund races this past Sunday. I guess it should really be called small dog races as there was a heat that frustrated little doggies. Dina planned 3rd in her race that also included Mary Poopins the wheel chair bound dog. We also touch on assisted living again and Crystals idea that it’s not so bad and could be something to look forward to as we age. We also discussed her estrogen treatment and her regiment with Dr’s. We talked about renaissance fairs are they good have they had their time…what’s your thoughts? When did you get your first smart phone? What is one food you would eat everyday for the rest of your life snd why?

    This weeks show we discuss parental care when they age, Crystal is participating in the great dachshund race at emerald downs in Seattle on Sunday with Deena the elder rescue dog that she has. I don’t think Deena will race and she doesn’t either she thinks Deena will get in trouble and be thrown out. We shall see. We also discuss her friend who restores cast iron skillets in Seattle and how Crystal thought her business name should be Deadpan Doula and she used it! We talked about what our most favourite or least favourite job ever was for our question of the week. We also are still waiting for someone to comment on our YouTube channel comments section to claim their free T-shirt. We’ve put bed shirts up on the Meow Damnit merch site.     This week’s episode we talk about Jackie the beautiful bald eagle who took ill and was rescued about 4 weeks ago and how she lost her battle to survive. Her legacy and our feelings around this great loss. We discussed our favourite clothing as kids and in high school. We also discussed the biggest events we’ve ever attended and also a skill we thought we would be good at. We talked about donating to the organizations that helped Jackie in her fight for her life. The Ojai Raptor Center, CALM, Friends of Big Bear Valley.org these great organizations help wild animals and are doing invaluable work.
