Why Consistency Beats a Big Following with Rose Griffin

If you have ever wondered whether you need a bigger following or a flawless plan to build something meaningful, this episode will change how you think about that. I'm talking with Rosemarie Griffin, known to most as Rose, an ASHA certified speech therapist and board certified behavior analyst with over 20 years of experience in both public and private settings. Rose is the founder of ABA Speech, which offers therapy services, courses, consultations, and a membership called the ABA Speech Connection, all built around helping autistic students find their voice. She also hosts her own show, the ABA Speech Podcast, and just released her new book, Say It With Me: Naturalistic Tools to Spark Speech and Social Engagement. What stood out most in this conversation is how much Rose credits her growth to consistency, not size. She posts fourteen times a week and has sent a weekly email to her list of close to 50,000 subscribers since the very beginning, long before either one felt like it was paying off. She also talks candidly about the boundaries she has had to protect along the way, including stepping back from a school job that gave her more balance, even when her own business mentors told her it would slow her growth. And she shares the shift from working one on one with clients to reaching people on a much bigger scale through her podcast, courses, and membership, a mindset she describes simply as going from one to many. Here's what we're getting into: Why Rose believes an engaged email list will always outperform a big social media following, and how she built hers to close to 50,000 subscribers through weekly consistencyThe boundary she chose to protect even when it meant slower business growth, and why she doesn't regret itHow she made the shift from treating clients one on one to reaching far more people through her podcast, courses, and membershipWhat it actually took to write her new book, Say It With Me, one day a week for almost a year, while running a full businessIf you have been chasing growth through more followers or more hustle, this conversation is a reminder that steady, consistent effort in the right places will always win. AI Tools Every Private Practice & Business Owner Needs to Know with Alisa Kay - Part 2

Have you ever sat down to create a social media post and felt like you had absolutely nothing to say, even though you have years of expertise sitting right there in your head? That is exactly the problem Alisa Kay and I dig into in part two of our conversation. In part two of my conversation with Alisa, we dive into her exact process for training AI to create content that actually sounds like you, not the average of everything already on the internet. Here is some of what we get into: Why whatever you're selling has to be the treasure all of your marketing is pointing towardWhy you have to (train AI to 😉) write about the problem your client thinks they have, not the one you know the actual solution toHow to build a story bank from your voice so AI can write content that sounds like your experience instead of a stranger'sWhy blogging is one of the best starting points for service-based businesses, and why you should write those first posts yourself before handing anything to AIThe five-step process Alisa uses to set up her clients' project, from identifying the problem to repurposing content across every platformPress play on part two, because this is where the real time savings start to show up. AI Tools Every Private Practice & Business Owner Needs to Know with Alisa Kay - Part 1

Did you know it's more than a chatbot or mediocre content creator? If I'm being honest, I didn't really understand the true capabilities of AI within my business until I sat down with Alisa Kay for this week's episode of the ScaleSmart Podcast. Alisa Kay is a storytelling and AI strategist who has built multiple six-figure businesses using her marketing genius, and now she teaches business owners how to do the same… but with AI. In this conversation, she breaks down exactly what the different AI platforms are, what they're used for, and how to use them for your private therapy practice or service-based business. Plus we're getting into: How to know when to use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini for your business or speech therapy private practiceWhy AI-generated content must be trained on your voice to actually sound like you, whether you're using it for social media, emails, blogging, or moreThe truth about AI and privacy, and how to navigate that when you use AI in a client-facing businessWhy Alisa compares training AI to onboarding a new team member, and what that actually looks like in practicePress play on this one, because it might change how much time AI actually saves you. You can learn more from Alisa at alisa-kay.com/claudesuccesscode or follow along with her on Instagram at @growwithalisa. What's Actually Working in Private Practice Hiring with Meredith Harold

Hiring is one of the hardest parts of growing a private practice, and most of the advice floating around in Facebook threads isn't cutting it. If you've posted a job and gotten crickets, or gotten someone in the door and lost them to a bigger practice, this episode is going to give you a much clearer picture of why. I'm sitting down with Meredith Harold, founder of The Informed SLP and Informed Jobs, to talk honestly about what's happening in the SLP job market right now. Meredith brings real data to this conversation, and some of what she shares is going to surprise you. Here's what we're getting into: Why most SLP pay data online is wrong, and how large agencies are making their offers look more competitive than they actually areWhat Meredith's research actually shows drives candidates to apply and say yes (it probably isn't what you'd guess)How to have better conversations with candidates before they make a decision without you in the roomWhat your website and your reputation are already communicating to job seekers before you ever get them on a callWhy hiring always costs you something, whether that's money or labor, and how to think through which one makes sense for where you are right nowIf you're hiring or building toward it, Meredith's platform is worth knowing about. Informed Jobs was built so small private practices can actually compete with large agencies on a fair playing field. Find it at theinformedslp.com. If hiring feels like one of the biggest walls you keep running into, this conversation is going to help. How to Rank Higher on Google and ChatGPT Without Redoing Your Entire Website

Blogging is the most accessible and high-return thing a private practice owner can do to rank higher on Google and in AI tools like ChatGPT, and you don't have to be a great writer to do it. If you have ever wondered why clients who are actively searching for your services are not finding you online, this episode is going to give you a very clear and very doable answer. I am a huge believer in boots-on-the-ground marketing, referral relationships, and building a real community around your practice. But I also know how powerful it is when your website starts doing some of that work for you, especially during the busy season when you are already stretched. In this episode, I am making the case for blogging as the single highest-return investment you can make in your online visibility right now, and I am walking you through exactly how to do it in a way that actually works. Here's what we're getting into: Why Google and ChatGPT are both rewarding fresh, helpful, human-written content and what that means for your practice websiteThe real reason AI-generated blog posts can hurt your rankings more than help them, even when they sound decentHow one blog post can become an email to your list and at least five pieces of social media contentWhy your Instagram captions can now show up in Google search results and how to write them so they doThe minimum blogging consistency that makes a real difference (spoiler: it is one post a month and about 12 hours a year)Resources mentioned: Free SLP Keyword Guide Blogging 101 Course (use code BLOGTODAY for $50 off!) If you are ready to stop being invisible online and start showing up where clients are already looking, this episode is a great place to start. Hit play and let's get into it. The ScaleSmart Podcast with Hannah Boeck is made for speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who are in private practice, thinking about starting a business, or learning to leverage their skills to make money beyond the therapy room. How IndiAide Helps Patients Actually Do Their Home Exercises with Alyssa Antcliff, M.S., CCC-SLP

If you've ever sent a patient home with a worksheet and then watched it disappear into the black hole of a backpack or a car seat, you already know the problem this episode solves. I'm talking with Alyssa Antcliff, M.S., CCC-SLP, the co-founder of IndiAide, about why home programs fail so often and how a new reimbursement pathway might be sitting right under your nose. What we cover: How IndiAide replaces paper handouts with a simple portal where patients get reminders, mark activities as done, and even send photos or videos so you can check their form between sessionsWhat remote therapeutic monitoring actually is and how it lets you bill for the home program work you're already doingA real breakdown of the numbers, including how a single patient could mean close to twelve hundred dollars in additional reimbursement over a yearHow Alyssa built IndiAide from a grad school project into a research-backed platform now used across 15 to 17 states, including the role her dad played in building the very first versionIf you've got patients who aren't progressing as fast as they should because the home program just isn't sticking, or if you're curious about a reimbursement pathway you might be missing out on, this episode is worth your full attention. Revisiting Excuses: The Fear Underneath the Stories We Tell Ourselves

Do you ever catch yourself saying, “I don’t have time,” “I’m not ready yet,” or “I just need one more thing before I start”? Those excuses feel real, but they’re actually protective stories your brain creates to keep you safe and small. And while they might make you feel productive, they’re often the very thing holding you back from the life and business you want. In this episode, I break down the three types of excuses that keep us stuck—protective excuses, disguised priorities, and those tied to self-worth—and share how to spot them in your own life. Then, I’ll walk you through my simple 4-step process to start rewiring those patterns so you can build confidence, take action, and finally move forward. What you’ll hear in this episode: The three types of excuses and how to recognize themWhy your subconscious creates excuses in the first placeHow excuses connect to fear, self-worth, and being seenThe 4 C’s method: Catch it, Challenge it, Change it, Condition itSmall, doable actions that shift you out of excuses and into momentum If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to start your practice, launch your product, or go after a big goal, this episode will help you recognize what’s really been stopping you—and give you the tools to take that next step anyway. Why Some Private Practices Are Successful (And Others Stay Stuck)

10 years of patterns, all in one episode. If you've ever looked at another practice or business owner and wondered what they're doing differently, this episode is going to give you some real answers. After 10 years of coaching private practice owners and entrepreneurs at every stage of business, I've noticed patterns that have nothing to do with clinical skill or business knowledge or the niche you're in. The patterns of success show up in how people invest in themselves, how they handle the hard moments, and whether they're willing to stay the course when things feel slow. Here's what we get into: Why the way you show up online tells potential clients exactly what it will feel like to work with youThe real reason consistency works, and why doing something once or twice gives you zero data to work withWhat happens when you try to avoid mistakes, or worse, let them erode your self-trust, and why that keeps you playing smallWhy your business can only grow as far as your time and energy allow, and what to do about itWhat it actually looks like to go after your goals without apologizing for themIf you've been wondering why some practices take off while others stay stuck, this episode will give you an honest look at what makes the difference.
