20+ Years in Cheer… and Still Not Done Talking About It! Cheer Chapters is all about sharing my 20+ years in the cheerleading world. This sport has been a massive part of my life (and let’s be honest, sometimes it took over my life—if you know, you know). My goal is simple: to help grow this sport and support others on their own cheer journeys. So… am I the woman for you? Well, I’m pretty straightforward. I’m prone to going off-topic, taking a few side quests (consider yourself warned), and speaking from the heart. I’ve worn many hats—athlete, coach, program owner, event provider—and now, mum, ADHD-brain wrangler, and dyslexic wordsmith. I didn’t take the traditional path into Allstar cheerleading. Instead, I stumbled in through youth work at the age of 16, straight into coaching—and never looked back. Cheer stole my heart, my weekends, and sometimes my sanity (again, if you know, you know). Here, I’ll be sharing it all: the mistakes, the must-haves, the chaos of starting a cheer business, coaching tinies, and even my unexpected author journey.     #33 AUTHOR: Am I Good Enough to Publish? An Honest Talk About Imposter Syndrome

    Should I really be publishing these books—or will everyone simply notice what I’ve done wrong? In this very honest episode, I’m talking about imposter syndrome while I’m still right in the middle of it. As a self-published author with ADHD and dyslexia, writing and releasing books has brought up a lifetime of insecurities around words, mistakes and being corrected. When I add the pressure of editing, illustrations, formatting, marketing and comparing myself with successful authors online, it becomes very easy to wonder whether I belong here at all. I’m sharing the difference between questioning my work because I genuinely know I can improve it and doubting whether I should be creating it in the first place. I also explain how feedback, planning and continuing to take small steps have helped me move forward when my confidence disappears. This isn’t a perfect formula for defeating imposter syndrome.     #32 CHEER PARENTS: Cheer Fundraising Without Parent Burnout

    How do you raise meaningful money for cheer competitions and travel without asking the same parents to give up every weekend? In this episode, I’m sharing the fundraising ideas our cheer community tried over the years—from sausage sizzles, Easter raffles and community events to bingo nights, major raffles, grants and business sponsorships. But fundraising isn’t only about choosing something to sell. I’m also talking about the policies teams and committees need before money starts coming in. How should profits be allocated? What happens when volunteer shifts are limited? Can one family claim several positions? Should fundraising be optional, and what happens when parents genuinely don’t have time to participate? We’ll also look at the side of fundraising I loved most: watching young athletes develop confidence, teamwork, leadership and practical life skills away from the cheer floor. Rules covering fundraising, raffles, sponsorship, tax and the distribution of money vary by location and organisational structure.     #30 CHEER COACHES: Private Tumbling Lessons | How to Create Progress That Lasts

    A private tumbling lesson shouldn’t stop being useful the moment the coach goes home. In this episode, I’m sharing my favourite way to structure private tumbling lessons when I don’t have access to a fully equipped all-star gym. Whenever it is safe and practical, I like to work with the space and equipment the athlete can genuinely access between sessions. That allows me to create personalised drills, record demonstrations and give the athlete a realistic plan they can continue following afterwards. I explain how I organise the lesson, use video and slow-motion playback, involve parents without turning them into coaches and help athletes understand what they should work on next. I also share how one athlete progressed towards her back walkover after consistently practising the personalised drills we had recorded during her private lesson. Tumbling should always be taught by a suitably qualified coach in an appropriate environment.     #29 AUTHOR: My Books Arrived Printed Wonky | The Unboxing That Wasn’t

    My first Cheer Diaries proof copies arrived—and Cheer Camp had been printed completely on the wonk. A white line ran across the cover, the interior was misaligned and my exciting first unboxing quickly became a lesson in print quality and self-publishing. In this episode, I’m sharing how Bookvault responded to the printing problem, why I chose account credit instead of an immediate reprint and everything I discovered while examining the books properly. I talk through the spelling, spacing and layout issues marked by my rapidly multiplying pink sticky tabs, why professional editing doesn’t replace proofreading the final formatted book and the cover designs I decided to change after seeing them in print. I also explain why I ordered proofs from Bookvault, Amazon KDP and IngramSpark before allowing the books to reach customers. 20+ Years in Cheer… and Still Not Done Talking About It! Cheer Chapters is all about sharing my 20+ years in the cheerleading world. This sport has been a massive part of my life (and let’s be honest, sometimes it took over my life—if you know, you know). My goal is simple: to help grow this sport and support others on their own cheer journeys. So… am I the woman for you? Well, I’m pretty straightforward. I’m prone to going off-topic, taking a few side quests (consider yourself warned), and speaking from the heart. I’ve worn many hats—athlete, coach, program owner, event provider—and now, mum, ADHD-brain wrangler, and dyslexic wordsmith. I didn’t take the traditional path into Allstar cheerleading. Instead, I stumbled in through youth work at the age of 16, straight into coaching—and never looked back. Cheer stole my heart, my weekends, and sometimes my sanity (again, if you know, you know). Here, I’ll be sharing it all: the mistakes, the must-haves, the chaos of starting a cheer business, coaching tinies, and even my unexpected author journey.
