MIDWEEK | Mark 1:29-39 | Jesus Heals and Prays

In this episode of The Open Bible, Colton teaches through Mark 1:29–39, recorded live at FBC Rosedale. We step into a powerful moment in the early ministry of Jesus — from the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law to the quiet place where Jesus withdraws to pray. In just a few short verses, we see two life-shaping truths: • Worship is a response. When Peter’s mother-in-law is healed, she immediately begins to serve. Her service wasn’t obligation — it was gratitude. Real worship flows naturally from a heart that has encountered the healing power of Jesus. • Jesus prioritized intimacy with the Father. Before the crowds gathered, before the ministry expanded, Jesus rose early to pray. If the Son of God sought closeness with the Father, how much more should we? Ministry must flow from relationship — not replace it. This episode challenges us to ask: Are we responding to Jesus with wholehearted worship? And are we guarding time alone with the Father the way Jesus did? Open your Bible, lean in, and let’s see what God is saying through Mark 1.

MIDWEEK | 1 PETER 2:1 “Get RID of malice and deceit!”

In this midweek service, Pastor Colton walks through 1 Peter 2:1, focusing on the command to “rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit.” It’s a powerful reminder that before we can truly grow in our faith, we must first deal with what’s poisoning our hearts. Malice and deceit might sound like harsh words, but they show up in subtle ways—through bitterness we hold onto, words meant to hurt, or pretending to be something we’re not. In this message, Pastor Colton unpacks what these attitudes really mean, how they can quietly creep into our lives, and why God calls us to lay them down completely. You’ll be encouraged to examine your own heart, release the grudges and dishonesty that weigh you down, and pursue a sincere walk with Christ. This message is a call to spiritual honesty and a fresh start in your relationship with God and others. Perfect for anyone who needs a midweek reset and a reminder that real growth begins with a clean heart.

SUNDAY SERMON | Because He Said So #2 | Teaching them to Obey All the Commands

🎙️ Because He Said So – Week 2 In this week’s message, Pastor Colton continues our Because He Said So series by focusing on the command found at the beginning of Matthew 28:20 — “teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Before we can teach others the commands of Christ, we must first know them for ourselves. Understanding what Jesus actually said—and what He didn’t—is essential for living out genuine faith. Colton reminds us that discipleship starts with learning, and that obedience flows from knowing God’s truth. Throughout the message, we also look at a few popular phrases that sound biblical but aren’t truly found in Scripture. It’s a powerful reminder that our foundation must rest on God’s Word, not cultural sayings or half-truths. Join us as we learn what Jesus really commanded, and discover how knowing His Word helps us teach, live, and lead faithfully—because He said so.

SUNDAY SERMON | Because He Said So #1: BAPTISM

In this first message of our new series Because He Said So, Pastor Colton Arbuckle teaches from Matthew 28:16–20, where Jesus gives His followers the Great Commission. Before anything else—before the teaching, before the going—He calls us to be baptized. Why does baptism matter so much? What does it represent? And why should every believer take this step of obedience? In this sermon, Pastor Colton unpacks the meaning, purpose, and power of baptism—not as a tradition, but as an act of obedience to the Savior. Join us as we learn to follow Jesus because He said so. 💧

MIDWEEK | 1 Peter 1:23-25 “The Word is Alive and Abiding”

In this week’s midweek service, Pastor Colton Arbuckle leads us through 1 Peter 1:23–25, a powerful passage that reminds us of the eternal nature of God’s Word. Peter writes that we have been born again through the living and enduring Word of God — a Word that never fades, never fails, and never loses its power. In this message, Colton explores what it means for the Word to be alive — not just ink on a page, but a living truth that still speaks, convicts, comforts, and transforms hearts today. He also points out how everything around us — the things we work for, the people we look up to, even the seasons of life — will eventually pass away. But God’s Word remains steady, unshaken by time or circumstance. Whether you’re walking through uncertainty or simply need a reminder of what’s unchanging in a changing world, this teaching will encourage you to hold fast to the Word that endures forever.
