    Jonah 1 – Rev’d Rob Slane (18th January 2026)

Why is a story about a man being swallowed by a huge fish and vomited out recorded in the Bible? This sermon begins by looking at the importance of the Book of Jonah, connecting it to references, echoes and allusions in the New Testament, as well as back to the flood of Genesis 6-9. It then asks what was it that motivated Jonah to attempt – absurdly – to flee the God of Heaven, who made sea and dry land. The answer is not simply that he was an “Israelite nationalist” who resented mercy coming to a heathen nation. Rather, he knew this was a sign of something else.

Covenant Renewal Worship – Rev’d Rob Slane (11th January 2026)

Why do we go to church each week? Many answers are given to this — but actually this is the wrong question. The real question we should be asking is […]

State of the Nation (Isaiah 1) – Rev’d Rob Slane (4th January 2026)

Britain is clearly in a time of great moral decay. But there is no new thing under the sun, and our present condition is remarkably similar to that of Judah in the days of Isaiah. This sermon looks at the degeneracy of Judah, the devastating consequences, and the root cause - apostasy from God. It then draws parallels with modern Britain, concluding that only a return to God through the death and resurrection of Christ can save us from our seemingly terminal decline. National renewal will not come through quick fixes, but through individuals, families and churches repenting to God, worshipping sincerely, cultivating gratitude, getting a multi-generational vision, and building a genuinely beautiful culture as an alternative to the culture we have been swimming in for decades.

    Christmas 2025: Matthew 1:18-2:18 – Rev’d Rob Slane (28th December 2025)

Matthew begins his Gospel with one of the most profound statements in the Bible: "The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." He is the True Adam, God's King come to inaugurate a new Creation; he is the True Son of David, come to build God’s House and usher in an Everlasting Kingdom; he is the True Son of Abraham, come to bring blessings to all the families of the earth. With the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ, Matthew presents him as Saviour, and in the coming of the wise men with their gifts, he shows him to be the New Israel, the Light of the World, and the True Tabernacle of God.

Christmas 2025: Unto us a Child is Born, a Son is Given – Rev’d Rob Slane (25th December 2025)

Unlike any other child, Jesus’ identity could be known while still a newborn and an infant, since the prophets had foretold his coming centuries before, in many times and in many places. This sermon explores the biblical background behind the titles he is given in Isaiah 9: Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Together they reveal Jesus as God incarnate, the wisdom of God, creator of heaven and earth, author and finisher of God’s everlasting covenant, and the only way of peace between God and man.

Advent 2025: The Coming of the Great Day – Rev’d Rob Slane (21st December 2025)

In this final Advent sermon for 2025, we look at the foretelling of the coming of God’s messengers in the prophecy of Malachi, and its fulfilment some 430 years later in the announcements by Gabriel to Zacharias and Mary in the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke. The new and ultimate exodus has come, with Yahweh himself coming to his temple. And this is why we feast, rejoice, and give gifts at Christmas. Not because of some commercialised Happy Holidays nonsense. But because the incarnate God is our feast, he is our rejoicing, is the unspeakable gift.

  7. 12/19/2025

    Advent 2025: Matthew 11:7-15 – Rev’d Felipe Sediles (14th December 2025)

The sermon paints a very different picture of manhood than we see in the modern world. Looking at the examples of John the Baptist, Elijah, and the Apostle Paul, it shows how Scripture commends men that stand firm - tough, independent-minded men who are rooted in divine truth rather than human approval. Ultimately, the rejection of biblical manhood is rebellion against God’s order, and we are called to follow Jesus Christ, who is the epitome of true masculinity, speaking hard truths in love, and redeeming manhood not for self-glory, but for sacrificial service.

  8. 12/19/2025

Advent 2025: The Coming of the Kingdom – Rev’d Rob Slane (7th December 2025)

This sermon explores how God foretold the coming of Christ’s Kingdom centuries before Jesus’ birth. Looking in particular at Daniel chapters 2 and 7, we see earthly empires - Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome - judged by the Ancient of Days and replaced by the Kingdom of Christ, established at the time of his ascension. This Kingdom begins small, yet will grow to fill the whole earth - even in this age. Isaiah 9 then adds more detail, showing us the character of this Kingdom - a Kingdom of peace, of righteousness and which shall not end.

  9. 12/19/2025

Advent 2025: The Coming of the King – Rev’d Rob Slane (30th November 2025)

This sermon traces the promise of Christ from creation to incarnation, showing God’s unified plan of redemption. Beginning in Genesis, it reveals how the Spirit, Word, and Light foreshadow Christ’s coming as a new creation. Humanity’s failure under Adam creates the need for a Redeemer-King, promised through the seed of the woman. Further promises are given to Abraham and David, but every potential candidate for this Redeemer-King fails, falling into sin and rebellion. The conundrum is resolved in the incarnation: God Himself becomes man. In Jesus Christ, all promises converge. Emmanuel - God with us - defeats sin, restores true kingship, and establishes an everlasting kingdom.

  10. 11/23/2025

    John 7:37-8:11 – Rev’d Rob Slane (23rd November 2025)

Why did Jesus ignore the scribes and Pharisees and stoop down to write in the floor? What did he write? What caused the accusers of the woman to be smitten in their consciences and to leave one by one? This sermon shows how the story of the woman accused of adultery in chapter 8 of John’s Gospel provides the answer to the question stalking the chapter 7: who is Jesus? Avoiding the trap they set for him, Jesus points to the law of casting the first stone (Deuteronomy 17:7), which followed the law relating to witnesses (Deuteronomy 17:6) to demonstrate to these men their lawlessness — and in so doing showing that he is the true Lawkeeper and Lawgiver, and the true Christ of God.
