Secret Armenian schools reopen across the city, where Yevkine and other devoted young women dedicate themselves to teaching the Armenian language and preserving a fading identity. Amidst this changing atmosphere, preparations for Sonia’s wedding to Prince Alexei continue, while invisible tensions slowly begin to fracture the world Sonia had imagined for them. Torn between love, betrayal, and belonging, Sonia struggles to embrace the path she has chosen, only to confront the painful reality that she remains an outsider within the Russian bourgeois society surrounding her, as the dream she built for her future slowly begins to collapse. In this episode, a group of fugitives—among them Vartan—set out to cross the dangerous border between the Russian and Persian Empires by traversing the Araks River, drawing closer to their ultimate destination: Yergir (Western Armenia). We follow this tense and uncertain journey, where we encounter the devoted, humble, and practical Chopur Artyush, who carries the burden of this difficult revolutionary work. Chopur and those like him have risked their lives for years, serving the cause without glory, without recognition, without even being remembered. At the same time, Chopur leads us into Vahe’s past, revealing his youth, when he too walked the same perilous path. Returning to the present, we see Vahe as a leader—still steadfast and resolute—setting aside his personal emotions and family responsibilities for a greater purpose. Sarkis Aghber, as the deputy elder of Parakar, upholds Gevorg’s honor and announces the village’s decision. The brutality and inhumanity of the governor of Igdir, though resulting in a futile resistance, nevertheless become the cause of a turning point in Sarkis Aghber’s fate. In response to this act, a death sentence is issued against the “beast.” We then hear how it is carried out, with the participation of revolutionary members from Yerevan. Vardan finds himself facing a decision that will overturn his entire life. The first part of this episode ends in uncertainty—but not in failure.

Resistance begins to spread, bringing with it both hope and danger. Amid this growing tension, the paths of Vartan, Yevkine, Khachal (Arshag), and Kevork begin to change. The reunion of Yevgine and Khachal is a quiet yet heavy moment for our lovers, while Khachal’s meeting with his family after fourteen years of separation becomes a joyful moment before the successive storms that are beginning to take shape. Yet the central question remains: what will ordinary people—the villagers—do when imperial authorities arrive to seize the lands and properties of the Armenian Church?
