The Church of Living Dangerously Podcast

I wanted to take a moment to share with you an inspiring story about my journey with John Bishop and our church community at Living Hope Church in Vancouver Washington, where I was introduced to him through my late husband in 2010. I was in a difficult place at the time, struggling with the consequences of poor choices I had made in my life. John's sermon at the time, which I recall vividly, emphasized the importance of accountability and living with the consequences of our choices, regardless of whether they were positive or negative. Through his sharing of his own life experiences, he set a powerful example of humility, forgiveness, and a commitment to personal growth. My experience at the church was transformative, and I credit it with helping me become a better person. The sense of purpose and community that we fostered through serving the public, such as volunteering at a dental office to help the homeless and serving dinner at the church for Thanksgiving, profoundly impacted my life. I must say that without this experience, I'm not sure I would have made the same progress in my life. John's message of forgiveness and personal growth has stayed with me, and I believe it has helped me earn forgiveness from my family for the pain I caused them. John's new book offers a more in-depth look at his life, including his struggles with depression, addiction, and personal loss. Through his writing, I feel like I've gained a deeper understanding of the person behind the pulpit, and I appreciate his authenticity and vulnerability. I believe that John's story serves as a powerful reminder that we are all human, prone to making mistakes and facing our own challenges. I'm grateful for the lessons I've learned from him and the impact he's had on my life.
