    In August 1977, eleven-year-old Janet Hodgson and her family reported furniture moving on its own at 284 Green Street in Enfield, London, in a case investigated for two years by the Society for Psychical Research's Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair.     41. Blue Peacock: The Nuclear Bomb Heated by Live Chickens

    Two Cold War weapons programs that sound invented and aren't. Project Blue Peacock was Britain's plan to bury ten atomic landmines on the North German Plain, designed at Fort Halstead in Kent and ordered by the Army Council in July 1957. Operation Popeye was the American cloud-seeding campaign flown out of Udorn, Thailand between 1967 and 1972, under the crew call sign Motorpool. Both are fully declassified now. Both came out sideways — one through an exhibition case at the National Archives, the other through a newspaper column and a Secretary of Defense who corrected his own sworn testimony eighteen months after he gave it.     38. Loch Ness Monster: A Legend 1,400 Years in the Making

    A monk supposedly talked a water beast out of attacking a second time, on this same stretch of Scottish water, almost 1,400 years before anyone called her Nessie. That's where the Loch Ness Monster legend actually starts, not 1933. Mitch and Russell spend this episode walking the timeline forward from there. A local story that turned into a worldwide sensation almost overnight. Faked photographs that kept it alive for decades. Sonar sweeps and DNA testing that tried, and mostly failed, to settle things for good.
