Rayyan Ali

Hello and welcome to Gen ZEO Playbook! I’m your host, Rayyan Ali. GenZEO Playbook exists to document and decode how a new generation of CEOs, founders, and entrepreneurs actually build and scale businesses. We go beyond tools and trends to uncover: the strategic frameworks behind real decisions how Gen Z leaders think about growth, leverage, and execution the systems, mental models, and tradeoffs they use in fast-moving markets This is not theory or hype. Each episode breaks down real playbooks from builders in the field — what worked, what didn’t, and why. If you’re building a company, scaling a product, or rethinking how leadership looks in the next decade, this podcast is your operating manual.

a16z Built a School With No Degree. Its CEO Believes in College.

a16z just launched the Horowitz Andreessen Academy. About 50 students, no tuition, no degree, and its CEO still says "we believe in college." I break down what launched, where the skeptics have a point, and the Build, Ship, Earn audit you can run before you apply anywhere. The Academy weighs proof of work, meaning what you've built, shipped, or earned. The same week, a Stanford and King's College London study across 41 countries found senior employment grew 6.7% at multinationals' overseas operations that adopted AI. Here's what both mean for Gen Z founders and builders. Chapters 0:00 No tuition, no tests, no degree 0:52 What a16z actually launched 2:01 The real story: "We believe in college" 2:59 The skeptics 3:44 Why AI is adding senior jobs 4:38 The Build, Ship, Earn framework 5:33 What a16z did differently 5:55 Run the audit and DM me Build, Ship, Earn (steal this) 1. Run the audit. Three columns for the last 12 months: built, shipped, earned. 2. Move one thing one column right. 3. Make every item checkable in 30 seconds. Why AI Just Beat Every Human Coder Alive (And What Gen Z Founders Should Do This Week)

An AI scored 535 out of 600 at the International Olympiad in Informatics. The best human in the room scored 498. Every recap ran the same headline: AI beats humans at coding. Here's what they all missed. The system didn't write a single problem statement. The constraints were handed to it. A correct answer already existed. Scoring was published in advance. That is the most closed, pre-specified version of work humans have ever designed — and closed problems with checkable answers are exactly what machines crack first: chess, Go, protein folding, now competition code. This episode breaks down: → What actually happened in Tashkent and why the result is real and narrower than the headlines → Why "entry-level repricing" is already happening (1 in 3 recruiters replaced some entry-level roles with AI this year) → Why coding fluency didn't become worthless — it became the floor — and why treating the floor as a destination is the mistake → The "Own the Unspecified" framework: a 3-step playbook to start doing the work AI cannot touch, starting this week The framework (steal this): Step 1: Run your spec ratio: list every task from your last 30 days, mark each S (spec handed to you) or U (you defined the problem). The ratio is your real exposure score. Step 2: Take one unspecified problem: find a real person, ask what part of their week they dread, build the smallest thing that removes 10 minutes of it. Step 3: Publish the problem statement: one paragraph above the demo — who has the problem, what it costs them, what "solved" means in a number. Solutions are getting cheap. Problem statements are not. ────────────────────────────────────── SUBSCRIBE FOR WEEKLY BREAKDOWNS Real founders. Real frameworks.
