    **A note here to say I have not mentioned the media logging experiment in this episode because it seems my scrolling habit is much worse than I initially realized. It’s taking a lot more self-awareness, and so I am continuing to work through this experiment and also allowing myself some grace as I adjust my habits. This is a preview of the month ahead readings that are to be provided for paid subscribers of Paper Joys. It includes a reading, a piece of art to contemplate and some journal prompts. Journal Prompts: * Evaluate your environment. See what tools and resources are available. Make a list to keep on hand. Return to it as needed. * Write about where you want to go in all different areas of life. * What are your rituals to care for your capacity? How are you refueling yourself energetically, emotionally, physically? * Compare what you want, what you need, and what you have. * What can you set down? Who can you ask for help?     Episode 13: Media Logging Experiment

    Just to start, in hindsight this episode sounds like I’m coming off very pro-social media/tech. That’s not what I’m trying to examine here. I am wanting to get curious about the human need to label something good or bad. I also don’t discuss AI here because, as an artist and human on this earth, it’s something I am deeply troubled by. It’s not a topic I am well-acquainted with, however. This episode mainly speaks to my personal experience. Now, for the experiment, we will be doing a media logging experiment beginning today August 21, 2026. Obviously you can begin yours anytime. I will share a public page on Notion with my media log, though it will probably be transcribed from an analog copy. This is just an experiment to see how what we consume feeds the compost pile of creative inspiration, and if it’s possible to mindfully engage with short-form content. Make some fun journal pages about it. Be creative. It doesn’t have to be a chore. Paid Subscriptions are back on There will be a continuation of the Crawling Veins series on ancestral connections. I have decided to continue writing the book, and I will begin to plan self-publishing when the time comes.     Today I introduce the inspiration behind starting my new project around Liminality, weirdness, media, and all things in between via Strange Static. Please go follow me there, as to respect the space of your inbox, I did not import my current email list. Strange Static is a separate project and the energy is very different. I also share the story behind the name (it has to do with my first introduction to Freddy Krueger). I also share a little bit about releasing shame about promoting our own work. I plan to delve into this more as I confront my own shame about sharing the work I make. One tidbit I forgot to mention is I am in the process of setting up a space to make a video version of the podcast (other than the podcast logo). I did already obtain a new mic, let me know if the audio experience was better.
