Stop Waiting to Live with Raven Connor

    44. What are you waiting to do because you’re waiting for someone else? In this episode of I’m So Grown Podcast, we’re talking about solo travel, living life on your own terms, exploring your own joys, and the cost of waiting. I sit down with my friend Raven to explore what it means to stop living by the phrase, “I’ll do this when…” Whether it’s traveling internationally, buying a home, going to dinner alone, attending an event, moving to a new city, or simply trying something new, how much of our lives do we postpone while waiting for the “right” person or circumstance? We talk about the difference between being alone and being lonely, learning to enjoy your own company, and creating a life that doesn’t require a plus-one to be meaningful. Because you can desire love, partnership, friendship, and community—and still refuse to put your life on pause waiting for them. Maybe the question isn’t, “Who am I going to go with?” Maybe it’s: “Why can’t I go with myself?” "Go solo. Meet new people when you get there." is a mantra Shatiya started to live by. Because sometimes being grown is realizing you don’t need a permission slip to live. Go anyway! Break The Pattern

Awareness is one thing. Choosing differently is another. You don’t break a pattern because you recognize it once. You break it every time you’re given the opportunity to repeat it—and choose something different. In this episode of I’m So Grown Podcast, we’re talking about what happens after you recognize a pattern in your life. Because seeing the behavior doesn’t automatically mean you’ll stop repeating it. Why do we return to situations that have already hurt us? Why can familiar behavior feel more comfortable than the unknown? And what does it actually take to interrupt a cycle and make a different choice? From parenting and relationships to boundaries and the habits we continue even when we know better, this episode explores the difference between recognizing a pattern and actually breaking it. Sometimes breaking the pattern isn’t just having the strength to leave—it’s having the strength not to return. If you’ve been noticing the same situations, behaviors, or outcomes repeating in your life, this episode is your reminder: you don’t break a pattern simply by becoming aware of it. You break it every time you have the opportunity to repeat it—and choose differently. Sometimes being grown is not just recognizing the pattern—but having the courage to choose differently. SEO Keywords:breaking patterns, break the cycle, self awareness, personal growth, healing journey, changing behavior, toxic relationship patterns, relationship cycles, family patterns, parenting differently, generational patterns, setting boundaries, emotional growth, self improvement, choosing differently, healing habits, women’s personal growth, adulthood podcast, life lessons, I’m So Grown Podcast

    Blindspot Patterns

Episode 41: Blindspot Patterns It’s easy to see a pattern in someone else’s life. It’s a lot harder to recognize one in your own. In this episode of I’m So Grown, we’re continuing the conversation about patterns—but this time, I’m turning the mirror on myself. Last episode, I asked you: What patterns do you have? Well, I'm answering that question today. I’m sharing three patterns I’ve noticed in myself: • The Cut-Off Pattern — when protecting myself means creating distance from people, situations, and even opportunities. • The “Reject You Before You Reject Me” Pattern — especially in romantic relationships, when uncertainty makes me want to leave before I have to experience rejection. • The Cold Shoulder Pattern — a behavior I used much more when I was younger, when shutting someone out felt easier than dealing with the conflict. And underneath all three, I noticed something bigger: When something feels uncertain, unsafe, hurtful, or disappointing, my instinct can be to create distance. But recognizing the pattern is only the beginning. Sometimes being grown is becoming a person who can recognize patterns, question them, and then decide whether they still serve you. Keywords: patterns, self-awareness, personal growth, emotional patterns, unhealthy patterns, relationship patterns, family patterns, self-reflection, healing, emotional maturity, boundaries, rejection, dating patterns, personal development, adulting, becoming emotionally mature, recognizing patterns, breaking unhealthy patterns, self-growth, I’m So Grown Podcast

    Patterns Are Not Mistakes

Episode 40: Patterns Are Not Mistakes What happens when you stop giving people grace for the same behavior over and over again? In Episode 40 of I’m So Grown Podcast, we’re talking about the difference between mistakes and patterns, and why recognizing the pattern can change the way you approach friendships, relationships, boundaries, and self-respect. I recently came across the quote, “Grace is for mistakes, not patterns,” and whew… it freed me. Because how many times have we said, “Maybe they’re going through something,” “Give them grace,” or “That’s just how they are”—only to realize years later that the behavior wasn’t an isolated mistake. It was a pattern. This episode is about setting boundaries, recognizing toxic patterns, trusting your intuition, practicing discernment, and no longer accepting less than your standards. And yes, we’re also talking about the difference between giving grace and allowing repeated behavior, because understanding someone’s struggles doesn’t mean giving them unlimited access to you. Sometimes growth looks like forgiveness. Sometimes it looks like a boundary. And sometimes it looks like finally believing what someone’s pattern has been showing you all along. Welcome back to I’m So Grown Podcast.  Sometimes being grown is… looking at the pattern and realizing it's not a mistake. #ImSoGrownPodcast #PatternsNotMistakes #Grace #Boundaries #Friendship #ToxicFriendships #SelfRespect #PersonalGrowth #Healing #GrownWoman #Relationships #EmotionalBoundaries #Discernment #SelfWorth
