    288. Bull, Bear & Beyond – Helios Underwriting: executive interview

In this interview, Adhiraj Maitra, CFO of Helios Underwriting, discusses the company’s strategy and outlook. Despite its name, AIM-quoted Helios is by no means a conventional insurance company. Rather, it is an investment fund that uniquely offers investors exposure to Lloyd’s of London, the world’s largest specialist insurance and reinsurance market. It does this by participating in a diverse portfolio of syndicates, carefully selected and curated based on deep market knowledge and connections, and its proprietary research. The approach has proved successful, and Helios has significantly outperformed the Lloyd’s market over the past 10 years. Even more interesting for an investor, over the past 20 years, Lloyd’s has generated annualised returns on capital of c 11%, ahead of a range of equity, bond and real estate benchmarks and with relatively low correlation to them. Although insurance premium rates have been softening, higher interest rates are supporting investment income as insurers reinvest maturing assets at higher yields. 287. Bull, Bear & Beyond – IntelliAM AI: executive interview

In this interview, IntelliAM AI CEO Tom Clayton and CFO Daud Khan discuss how the company’s industrial AI platform helps manufacturers improve reliability, productivity and operational efficiency. Clayton explains how machine learning, large language models and closed-loop applications turn factory data into actionable insights, drawing on examples involving Müller and SKF. He also discusses the platform’s differentiation, its ability to work across different equipment and data sources and recent commercial momentum involving Mars, an agricultural customer and US integration partner SkyIO. He discusses the target of at least 70% gross margins on software subscriptions and the potential for revenue to grow faster than costs. The interview also covers how the c £6.3m conditional fundraising and proposed move to AIM support US expansion, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth, customer penetration and operating leverage identified as key measures of progress. 285. Bull, Bear & Beyond – Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust in 60 Seconds

This is an urgent call for the shareholders of Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust (ticker: USA) to cast their votes ahead of the company’s AGM on 23 October 2026. USA provides exposure to exceptional US growth businesses across both public and private markets including SpaceX, Anthropic and Stripe. The trust has outperformed the S&P 500 Index over the long term and in the 12 months to 30 September 2026 delivered an NAV total return of 32.4% versus 17.3% for the index. Saba Capital, which holds around 30% of USA’s voting rights, has proposed three directors for election at the upcoming AGM, offering shareholders a cash exit at or near NAV. USA’s board strongly opposes their appointment, questioning the nominees’ independence and the implications for the trust’s longer-term strategy. **************************************************************************************  About ‘Bull, Bear & Beyond’  Bull, Bear & Beyond': features candid conversations with senior executives and from our own team of experts from across industries, exploring strategy, innovation, and the opportunities shaping their markets and 60-second pieces are a compressed summary of content designed to convey our message in a single, easily shareable hit.  About Edison:  Edison is a content-led IR business.
