    Episode 50: Manos: Hands of Fate (1966)

    This month on Comedyville Horror Podcast, we watched Manos: The Hands of Fate — a 1966 horror movie that may very well be the most confusing, poorly dubbed, awkwardly edited piece of cinema we've ever subjected ourselves to. What starts as a family road trip turns into a bizarre journey involving Torgo, the mysterious Master, creepy hand imagery, terrible fighting, questionable costumes, a suspiciously useless dog, endless staring at paintings, and enough awkward pauses to make us question whether the movie was actually finished. We break down the movie's ridiculous plot, bizarre characters, painfully bad dubbing, strange editing, and the infamous pillow knees. We also discuss the movie's unusual origin story and how a fertilizer salesman ended up making one of horror's most notorious films. Was there anything good about it? The cars were cool. The Master's cloak was pretty badass. And... that's about it. We kick things off with a brand-new pitcher plant that immediately becomes the inspiration for way too much c**k talk, followed by a recap of a Lenny Kravitz concert where apparently every person in the building was sexually attracted to him. Then we get into workplace b******t, dealing with mean old ladies, saying “NO” to responsibility, a coworker who apparently discovered that switching from gas-station donuts to McDonald’s is a revolutionary weight-loss strategy, and an unexpected encounter with the legendary Wienermobile. Add in fast-food disasters, Dolly Parton, terrible drivers, construction-induced road rage, a Walmart meltdown, getting locked out of the house, witchy plans, National Geographic costing sixteen f*****g dollars, and a debate over whether AI is eventually going to destroy humanity… and you've got another completely unhinged episode.
