Weekly Prayer Guide: Radical Costly Rejoicing

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Philippians 4:4Psalm 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul,     and all that is within me,     bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul,     and forget not all his benefits,  who forgives all your iniquity,     who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit,     who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,  who satisfies you with good     so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ  and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,  and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.  Philippians 3:7-11“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?  Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:23-26Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.  I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. Philippians 1:19-20

Weekly Prayer Guide - Watchful Prayer

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  Colossians 4:2For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.  Colossians 4:3-4Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Weekly Prayer Guide - The Big Reveal

Revelation 1 To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,  and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.  “Look, he is coming with the clouds,”    and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”;    and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”So shall it be! Amen.  “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” 6-8 I saw.. among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.  vs 13 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. vs 17-18

Weekly Prayer Guide - Lavishing Love of God

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1   This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10   And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. 1 John 4:16a  This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15

Weekly Prayer Guide - The End is Near! Therefore...

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.  Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:7-11 (NIV)

Weekly Prayer Guide - Faith Leads to Courage

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing oureyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.   Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses… (Heb 12:1)   Therefore, since we have been justified by faith… (Romans 5:1)   Therefore, since we have such a hope… (2 Corinthians 3:12)   Therefore, since we have this ministry… (2 Corinthians 4:1)   Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord… (2 Corinthians 5:11)   Therefore, since we have these promises… (2 Corinthians 7:1)   Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ… (Colossians 3:1)   Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body… (1 Peter 4:1)   Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken… (Hebrews 12:28)

Weekly Prayer Guide - Strengthen and Impart Faith

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.Hebrews 11:1  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. John 15:26-27   Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him,…. Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. Luke 25:31a, 45 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10

Pray for Me - Centered on God - W5 D7

The fear of the Lord prolongs life,     but the years of the wicked will be short. The hope of the righteous brings joy,     but the expectation of the wicked will perish. (Proverbs 10:27-28)  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,     and whoever captures souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30)Lord, you tie everything back to yourself: the fear of the Lord prolongs life, the hope of the righteous brings joy, and the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. I pray that ______ would build their lives on reverence for you and find that it leads to gladness. Let their hope be anchored in you, where it can’t be disappointed. And make their lives fruitful — a tree of life to everyone around them. For your glory and their good, in Jesus’ name, amen.
