    How do we proceed?

    What does it mean to use your power for good? Living here right now one of the only mechanisms for survival is self protection. We are surrounded by constant assault on our sensibilities, our beliefs our deeply held values. We feel forced to compromise incessantly. Everywhere return there is someone who wants something from us. There is another thing of beauty falling away, breaking our hearts. In order to deal with all of this, we guard ourselves. We throw up a hard shell and we live safely inside it all alone. There are a very few beings here who cannot do this. They are incapable, despite their best efforts. These beautiful and precious beings, live fully heart open vulnerability forward, and they feel trampled. Endlessly searching for kindness and reciprocity, and yet terrified of it when it appears. For those who have semi successfully turned themselves into an island it feels terrifying to consider the possibility that someone could show up for you. That they could show up and not take from you. That they could show up and not harm you in some way. So how do you recognize the difference? When you’ve never experienced it before? How do you know when it’s OK to shift your power from protection to reciprocity? I don’t have an easy answer here. What I do know is that when we find those beings, those individuals in our lives who can genuinely reciprocate love, safety, and that ineffable quality of showing up and being there no matter what, we have a responsibility to shift from self protection to connection. If for no other reason, than we are capable of doing so, and it is our purpose here on planet to participate and create the new paradigm. Not because we’ve seen it before or because anyone has modeled it for us. Not because we have experienced anything that would tell us it’s going to work or be okay.
