You Forgave Them. But Have You Forgiven Yourself?

You knew something was wrong. Your intuition was telling you. Maybe you stayed anyway. Maybe you kept hoping. Maybe you stayed silent. Maybe you accepted less than you deserved. And years later, the person you’re having the hardest time forgiving… might be yourself. In Part 2 of this deeply personal conversation, Jenn, Briana, and Kat explore what happens after an old emotional wound resurfaces — and why healing sometimes requires us to stop putting our former selves on trial. What if you weren’t weak? What if the version of you who stayed was making decisions with the awareness, safety, and emotional tools they had at the time? And what if the “closure” you still want isn’t really closure at all — but acknowledgment that what happened to you mattered? In this episode, we explore: • self-forgiveness after unhealthy relationships • why we ignore our intuition • grief for the future we thought we would have • self-betrayal and shame • closure vs acknowledgment • letting go without reconciliation • emotional triggers and old memories • forgiving your younger self • boundaries after hurt • reopening your heart without abandoning your wisdom Because forgiveness does not mean reconciliation. Letting go does not mean forgetting. And healing doesn’t necessarily mean never feeling an old emotion again. Sometimes healing means an old feeling can return without controlling your identity, your boundaries, or your decisions. If this conversation brings someone to mind, share it with them. Chapters 00:00 Can you forgive yourself? 01:05 Knowing something was wrong but staying anyway 01:20 Forgiving yourself for ignoring your intuition 02:00 Manipulation vs taking responsibility for your choices 02:28 When you betray your own instincts 02:55 “Why was I so stupid?” 03:12 Why accepting the truth meant losing something 03:41 When hope keeps you somewhere too long 04:18 Grieving the future you imagined 04:47 Wanting them to understand the damage 05:55 Closure vs acknowledgment 06:27 Wanting them to finally admit what they did 07:25 The human desire to have your pain witnessed 08:03 What if they never acknowledge it? 09:17 Stop giving someone else power over your peace 09:46 This isn't only about romantic relationships 10:23 Grieving who you were when they mattered 10:50 Forgiving the old version of yourself 12:00 Forgiveness does NOT mean reconciliation 12:42 What actually proves you've healed? 13:22 Being reminded vs being governed by the past 14:01 Honoring your younger self 14:35 Meeting an old memory with new consciousness 15:45 Why self-forgiveness changes your identity 16:26 Stop putting yourself on trial 17:20 Why you shouldn't close your heart 17:55 Feeling difficult emotions without becoming them 18:35 Forgiveness as an ongoing practice 19:20 Are you reliving the past — or remembering it? The episode makes an especially important distinction around 12 minutes: forgiveness isn't reconciliation, forgetting, removing accountability, or giving someone continued access. It's accepting that the past can't be rewritten and refusing to let it keep writing your future. #selfforgiveness #HealingJourney #EmotionalHealing #Relationships #InnerChildHealing #SelfWorth #EmotionalIntelligence #PersonalGrowth #TraumaHealing #ConsciousLiving

Knowing Isn’t Doing: How Real Change Happens

How do you turn self-awareness into lasting behavior change? Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb explore the difference between remembering a lesson and practicing a response—and why transformation requires space, self-trust, repetition, and a behavior you consciously choose. In this episode of the Conscious Creator Community Podcast, the hosts discuss patient H.M.’s famous mirror-tracing case, wakeful rest and memory, the often-misused “66 days” habit finding, meditation for beginners, and why one missed day does not erase your progress. The practical challenge is simple: one truth, one observable behavior, one week. In this conversation: Why factual knowledge and skill learning are not the same How quiet after learning may reduce interference and support memory Why self-trust is not certainty or blind belief in every thought What the 66-day habit study actually found Why a lapse is not an identity verdict A beginner-friendly 10-minute meditation practice How to turn one chosen truth into visible evidence Before searching for one more answer, ask: What do I already know? What behavior would make it visible? What discomfort must I tolerate to live it? Hosted by Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb. Why Stress Pulls You Back Into Old Habits

Why do old habits return when you are stressed—even when you know exactly what to do? Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb explain how immediate relief, negative reinforcement, and identity can make an old response feel more available than a thoughtful one. This episode of the Conscious Creator Community Podcast moves beyond shame and into mechanism. The hosts explore emotional eating, texting an ex for “closure,” people pleasing, over-functioning, and the identities that make change feel costly. You’ll learn a practical if-then plan and a 10-minute pause that can help you meet the real need before deciding what happens next. In this conversation: Why stress can favor practiced responses over goal-directed choices What negative reinforcement means in everyday life Why temporary relief can create long-term emotional costs How identity makes boundaries and asking for help feel threatening How implementation intentions turn vague goals into specific if-then plans A reflection exercise for identifying the feeling beneath an urge Try this: If I feel ______, then I will ______ for ten minutes before deciding what happens next. Post your plan in the comments if you want accountability. Hosted by Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb. Why Self-Help Isn’t Changing Your Life

Why can you know exactly what to do and still feel stuck? Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb unpack the gap between self-help information and real behavior change—and explain why another book, course, planner, or podcast may not be the missing answer. In this episode of the Conscious Creator Community Podcast, the hosts explore information overload, the difference between preparation and participation, why consistency matters more than intensity, and how quiet wakeful rest may help new learning take root. You’ll leave with a grounded 10-minute practice for turning one useful insight into something you actually live. In this conversation: Why consuming personal-development content can create the feeling of progress The difference between knowing about boundaries and holding one Why repetition gives the brain new behavioral evidence How stillness, nature, and quiet rest can support reflection and learning A simple way to choose one truth and practice it consistently What is one thing you already know—but have not consistently practiced? Share it in the comments, then choose one small behavior that would make it visible this week. Hosted by Jenn Hatcher, Briana Hetherington, and Kat Gottlieb. Research context: Reviews of wakeful rest suggest that brief quiet periods after learning can support memory consolidation, although results and mechanisms vary by task and person: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30683602/ This podcast is educational and reflective; it is not medical or mental-health treatment. #PersonalGrowth #BehaviorChange #SelfHelp #Mindfulness #Consistency #InformationOverload #SelfAwareness #ConsciousCreatorCommunity

You Are Not Your Thoughts: The Power of Awareness

You are not every thought that enters your mind. You are the awareness capable of noticing those thoughts, questioning them, and choosing what happens next. In this episode of the Conscious Creator Community Podcast, Briana Hetherington, Jennifer Hatcher, and Kat Gottlieb explore the power of awareness, metacognition, mindfulness, and present-moment living. If you can observe your thoughts, who is doing the observing? That question opens the door to a different relationship with anxiety, fear, overthinking, limiting beliefs, past experiences, and the stories your mind repeats. Instead of automatically becoming every thought, you can pause and recognize: “That is a fearful thought”—without deciding that you are fear. In this conversation, we explore: What it means to be the awareness behind your thoughtsHow metacognition helps you observe your thinkingWhy every thought you have is not necessarily trueHow to question the narration running through your mindThe difference between awareness and judgmentWhy we mentally replay the past and rehearse the futureHow devices pull us away from the present momentWhy slowing down can initially feel uncomfortableHow curiosity and wonderment return us to the presentThe relationship between mindfulness and neuroplasticityHow workaholism can quietly take us away from our livesWhy children can teach us how to become fully present What does it mean to live in the present moment? Living in the present means bringing your attention back to what is happening here and now without criticizing yourself when your mind wanders. It is not about eliminating thoughts or achieving perfect mental silence. It is the repeated practice of noticing, returning, and choosing again. What is metacognition? Metacognition is the ability to think about and observe your own thinking. It creates space between a thought and your response, allowing curiosity to replace automatic reaction. The present moment is not an interruption to your life. It is where your life is happening. 📖 Books mentioned: The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Stop Living on Autopilot: The Power of Awareness

Are unconscious beliefs quietly running your life? In this episode of the Conscious Creator Community Podcast, Briana Hetherington, Jennifer Hatcher, and Kat Gottlieb explore the power of self-awareness—and how noticing your thoughts, reactions, habits, and inherited beliefs can help you stop living on autopilot. Many of our emotional reactions and limiting beliefs become automatic through repetition. We may carry beliefs about money, success, productivity, relationships, and self-worth without ever stopping to ask whether those beliefs are actually ours. Awareness creates the pause between what happens and how you respond. That pause gives you a choice. In this conversation, we explore: What self-awareness actually means How thoughts and reactions become automatic Why awareness is illumination, not judgment How inherited beliefs shape money and success The difference between curiosity and self-criticism Why performing prevents genuine connection How mindfulness can help interrupt habit loops Why wonderment brings us back to the present Three questions that can change how you see yourself You do not have to believe every thought that enters your mind. You can notice it, become curious about it, and choose how you want to respond. Questions to reflect on: What part of your life are you willing to become more aware of? What belief have you accepted without questioning it? What could become possible if you noticed your thoughts instead of becoming them? 📖 Book mentioned: The Untethered Soul by Michael A.
