Preview: A Knight to Remember...Steve really is the best

One of our final bonus episodes of the season break! (substack only) Season Two premiers on Halloween, but here’s another bonus episode to tide you over until then. This week we chose to do something seasonal for autumn to recognize the season of fantasy and the supernatural. ‘A Knight to Remember’ stars Hallmark fave Julie Gonzalo and newcomer James Trevena. A statue of an English knight arrives in Chicago for an art exhibit. While cleaning the statue, museum conservator Emily impulsively kisses the statue, bringing him to life. It’s the Halloween season in Christmasland, so we had to give some of the woo-woo fortune-telling aspects of this film a little grace. Easy to do with a cast this fantastic and Hallmark’s hallmark charm. Will Emily ever discover true love? Will Sir Griffin ever make his way back to the past so he can finish living out his present? Will the museum ever stop making Emily do all the jobs? Kira and Amelia answer all your questions and hand out episode awards: Robert A. Baron Villain Award for the most dastardly villain the film could produceChristmas Ham Award for the most over-the-top, entertaining performanceChristmas Tree Topper for best performanceDrop your choices in the comments! Interviewing 'A Prince in Paradise' series writer Adrian Powers and Caera Bradshaw

AN INTERVIEW IN PARADISE! IG @JTChristmasland Journey to Christmasland on Substack (lots of bonus content) We’re so excited to bring you this interview with the co-writers of the A Prince in Paradise series (or A Royal in Paradise, depending on where you watch the movies), Adrian Powers and Caera Bradshaw. You’ll remember Adrian from a previous interview after we reviewed ‘A Christmas Castle Proposal.’ We had so much fun together he agreed to drag his writing partner to the show after the release of the third film. You can watch that interview here and if you’d like to see our review, you’ll have to upgrade to a paid subscription as it was a bonus episode. Or you can wait until the Christmas season when we release it to the free side. A delightful time was had by all. We covered a range of topics including how you write a movie with a writing partner, the highs and lows of filming, and the challenges of storytelling in the “Christmasland” format. There was also quite an extensive conversation about the name KIRA. You’ll have to watch to see the roller coast ride of that particular conversation. We can’t say enough great things about these two artists. They were warm, open and generous. True Christmasland citizens! Don’t forget to subscribe on YouTube and share with your friends who love the spirit of Christmas and love the cheesy coziness of tv Christmas movies (and movies from all the surrounding seasons…Christmasland has seasons too!). #aprinceinparadise #adrianpowers #caerabradshaw #greatamericanfamily #greatamericanmedia #filmreview

Never kiss a man in an ugly Christmas sweater while fact checking USS Christmas

SUMMER REWIND SERIES: We’re getting closer to the launch of Season 2 but we’ve still got some time to replay some of our old podcast episodes. This week is a fun one, probably our favorite episode of all time. We reviewed the Hallmark Christmas movie Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, which set off a very tense discussion about the “ugly Christmas sweater” trend. But the best part was an epic fact check from a Navy husband who had some nitpicks with USS Christmas. It was shocking to learn Hallmark may have gotten a few things wrong about Navy life, but it was a very educational experience. It will also be very clear that I (Kira) know nothing about military life or titles. We had so much fun recording this episode and it was fun to go back re-listen. We were just on the cusp of 2021 and adjusting to life in the pandemic era, but as always, we remained faithful to the Christmas spirit. Don’t forget that you can subscribe to our show on YouTube if that’s easier for you than the Substack player. Substack is where we house all our extra content, so make sure you’re subscribed and upgraded so you don’t miss one second of Christmas. #hallmark #neverkissamaninachristmassweater #usschristmas #factcheck

Summer Rewind: A Timeless Christmas- Time Travel Shenanigans

Welcome to the Summer Rewind, where we replay some of our archived catalog for those who maybe haven’t heard the old iteration of our show. This episode originally aired on Christmas Eve of 2020, when this show was called A Very Merry Podcast. Back then we would each tell each other about a movie we loved. for this show, we unexpectedly chose the same plot device…time travel. Amelia gives her thoughts on A Timeless Christmas and I talk about the first and only Christmas STEM movie I’ve ever seen, Christmas Comes Twice. Coincidentally, the latter stars a very recent inductee of JTC, Michael Xavier…otherwise known as Josh from The Jealous Bride. Enjoy this rewind and don’t forget you can also subscribe to us on YouTube. Upgrade your subscription for bonus content throughout the summer!
