    Welcome to the Chaos Zone!

Welcome to the Chaos Zone! I’ve been sick for the last two weeks and if you can’t tell from my voice after listening to this week’s episode of the podcast I still haven’t fully recovered. No clue what it was, but it had me in bed for a week and I’m still so tired I feel like I could sleep for 24 hours straight. It kind of reminds me of when my doctor made me take a mono test, and it was negative, but showed that I’d had it at some point. Never tested then, but still feel like I’m walking around with it a decade later.  Anyway, this summer kinda sucked, but I’m thinking of ways to make the fall a bit better. One is dressing in a way that feels like me. Not just throwing on sweatshorts and a shirt that makes me look semi-professional. No hate to sweatshorts because I was literally wearing them for half the day today. I’m also doing classes and exploring things I love- another poetry class with a poet from Ireland and a tap dancing class. I love dancing and I’m super excited for this one.  Listeners, I haven’t had any good fruit this summer. What’s going on? I’m desperate for some good fruit. If you had some amazing fruit this summer please send tips my way. I had like one good New Jersey peach and that’s it, but I really feel like I’ve missed out and need some of the juicy goodness in my life.  My brain is churning again and I’m not sure if any of this even makes sense, but alas I’m sticking to it and I’m happy you’re here!  As always you can email your loves and spirals to mildlyspiralingpod@gmail.com and I’ll read them on the pod in Season 3!! Did I really spend $20 on Swedish candy?

Oh listeners, it's been a really hard week and I’m not in the best spirits, but recording the podcast felt like a little place of solace that I could process my feelings and find some joy. Did I also spend $20 on Swedish gummies to cope? Yes, yes I did…  I got some not great IVF news this week, and it’s made me feel even more so on the verge of tears at any given moment. I’m starting to find it really hard to pretend everything’s ok while getting bad news almost daily at this point.  I’m so glad that the conversation about fertility checks, egg freezing, and IVF is growing with AOC sharing her process. I think it’s so important and I’m so happy for younger women who will grow up in a world where it is so much more normalized and accessible. Making it more accessible and affordable is so important and something I will continue to fight for even after my journey is over.  I also touch on some other loves and spirals in the zeitgeist this week including 90s movies like Heavyweights (a love!), Overtsimulation and dehumanization and the rise of social media, and tomatoes because we are in the height of tomato season and it’s glorious!  I hope you’ll tune in even if it’s more of a somber episode. I appreciate every listen, like, subscribe, and review. Ok love you bye!!  As always you can email your loves and spirals to mildlyspiralingpod@gmail.com and I’ll read them on the pod in Season 3!! On a Wish and a Prayer (Video!)

Is this entire episode a spiral? Yes, yes it is. Want to hear hormones take control over my entire personality? Well listen in! I’m kidding, I’m still a very rational and stable human being. It’s annoying, really.  If you’re new here, well, welcome! I give a little background on my fertility journey thus far to get you all up to speed. One of the reasons I share so much of my  fertility journey here even though I didn’t set out for this to be a fertility podcast is because when I started my journey so few people were talking about it and there weren’t many resources out there. When I did find podcasts and instagrams focusing on it, I felt a little less alone. I felt a lot of shame around infertility at first, but talking about it and being open about my journey has helped get me out of that shame spiral.  Onto less serious topics, I explore some current loves and obsessions like how I really want to get into bedazzling. I’ve never bedazzled a thing in my life, but I’m thinking a PWHL jersey may be my first foray into it because spending $500 on a new craft sounds smart, right? What else, what else… Oh!! Just spiraling about Influencer culture, overconsumption, and capitalism. I’ve also got two listener submissions, so tune in to hear those too!  As always you can email your loves and spirals to mildlyspiralingpod@gmail.com and I’ll read them on the pod in Season 3!! You can also follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and Substack at mildlyspiralingpod and like, subscribe, and rate the pod wherever you listen!  Ok thanks for listening, love you, bye!!! xoxo

HAGS - Have A Great Summer

It’s the final episode of Season 3 and then we’re on summer break over here at Mildly Spiraling. I’ll be back on August 3rd, so please send over your loves and spirals and I’ll read them once we’re back on air!  In the meantime, enjoy this episode and any others you missed during Season 1 and 2.  I’ve been moving a little slower lately, enjoying new routines including waking up earlier and spending some time in the morning burning sage, stretching, and having my coffee outside. All little things to remind myself that life is indeed worth living. So many little things are bringing me joy right now- Dieux Instant Angel (not sponsored, but would love to be), strawberry matchas, and organic pedicures (No MAHA).  IVF and infertility are so draining mentally and physically and I’m trying to be as kind to myself as possible. A lot of my clothes that I wore last summer don’t fit me and I still feel constantly bloated. I’m trying to lean into loving my body and being ok with it in the now. These are things that would have sent me into the biggest ED spiral ever, but sitting with it, and allowing the changes to just be for now is a huge step forward.  Gosh, so many spirals lately. The first big one is not being able to find a good fertility acupuncturist in NYC that takes insurance. You wouldn’t think this would be that hard, but it’s been kind of impossible. I share a bit of a horror story from my acupuncture appointment after my last embryo transfer that ultimately ended up being a loss. Let’s just say it involves me laying on my stomach on a heated bed. I’m sweating just thinking about it again. If you do have any recs, please drop them in the comments or send me a little email!  Lots of other spirals including technology, cause what the hell!? The more I connect with myself the more I realize I was not meant to live in this technological world. Honestly. Maybe none of us were, you know what I mean!?  I like to think that vulnerability is my superpower, so please stay tuned until the end where I share a recent poem I’ve written! OK LOVE YOU HAGS BYE!!!!  Next episode back will be on August 3rd. Enjoy your summers! In the meantime you can email me your loves and spirals to mildlyspiralingpod@gmail.com and I’ll reach them on the pod in Season 3!!
