Jane and Chandra

We are two women fed up with living small. This is our journey. (btw, we say f**k a lot, and don't edit our shit).

The Clothes We Wear vs. Who We Really Are

Are we still allowed to feel sexy after 50? And who, exactly, is making these rules anyway? 😂 Episode 54 starts with Chandra wondering whether she can wear a wedding dress for her second wedding at 57. Then Jane puts on a blazer and realizes she's been quietly asking herself a completely different version of the same question: Am I still worthy of being that woman? And suddenly we're talking about everything from menopause bodies and changing wardrobes to wedding dresses, lingerie, sexy boots, fishnets, confidence, sexuality, aging, femininity and the strange rules women absorb about what we're “allowed” to wear as we get older. Because sometimes it's not actually about the clothes. It's about worthiness. It's about identity. It's about the versions of ourselves we think we're supposed to leave behind. And maybe it's about giving ourselves permission to experiment again—to wear the damn blazer, buy the lingerie, put on the ridiculous boots, or wear the wedding dress simply because it makes us feel amazing. No permission slip required. Plus: teenage fashion disasters, dressing our daughters, why some clothes make us feel powerful, why others make us want to disappear, and the eternal question: Can a woman be any age, any size and still dress like she f*****g means it? (Yes.) And because this is The Sage Stage, we finish by revealing our most irrational fears. Jane's is genuinely terrifying. Chandra's involves her fingers. (Of course it does.) Episode 54 of The Sage Stage: aging, confidence, body image, sexuality, style, self-worth—and giving ourselves permission to be whoever the hell we want to be.

We Keep Making Ourselves Smaller. We’re Done.

What if some of the things we say about ourselves are actually keeping us small? This week on The Sage Stage, we're catching ourselves in the act. “I don't know what I'm doing.” “I can't do it.” “I'm in so much pain.” “No, no, I've got it.” Sound familiar? We talk about overcommitting, learning when to say no, getting older and having less capacity for chaos, decision fatigue, supportive partners, and why women can be so damn good at taking care of everyone except themselves. We also get very honest about something neither of us finds particularly easy: Receiving. Why is it so hard to let someone do something nice for us without immediately saying, “No, no, no, it's okay”? Why do we feel like we have to prove we're capable? Why do we announce our limitations before anyone else can expect something from us? And what happens when those little protective habits start keeping us smaller than we actually are? We talk about theatre, creativity, relationships, saying no to things we love, knowing when to stop, listening to our bodies, and the realization that sometimes quitting something isn't failure — it's choosing what matters. Plus, we discover that accepting Chinese food can apparently be a major personal-growth exercise. 😂 After almost a year of talking about living our biggest, best lives, we're realizing that part of that means shedding some of the habits we've used to protect ourselves. We still don't have everything figured out. But maybe it's time to stop saying we don't know what we're doing. Because we do. We just happen to be doing it imperfectly. And that's okay. 🎧 Episode 53 of The Sage Stage — We Keep Making Ourselves Smaller. We're Done. Come hang out with us.

Who Says We’re Too Old to Wear That?

Okay… this episode went places. We started by talking about sex, menopause and why apparently the ideal time for sex after 50 is no longer necessarily “whenever.” Then we talked about childhood, trauma, therapy, energy work, soul retrieval, marriage, aging, hobbies, creativity, clothing, double standards, restaurant etiquette… …and somehow ended up having The Great Hat Debate of 2026. 😂 But underneath all the chaos is a question we're both wrestling with: Who gets to decide what women are “too old” to do? Too old to wear short shorts? Too old to dress sexy? Too old to dance? Too old to try something new? Too old to start a new career? Too old to paint badly? Too old to give yourself permission to become someone different? Because we're starting to think the answer might be: Nobody. If you want to dance, dance. If you want to paint, paint. If you want to wear the damn outfit, wear it. You don't have to be good at it. You don't have to get paid for it. And you definitely don't have to explain yourself. We also talk honestly about menopause, libido, body confidence, aging, relationships, the weird things our brains remember (and conveniently forget), and the importance of leaning into the gifts you have — while also embracing the ones you never thought you were good at. And yes, we argue about whether men should take their hats off indoors. Chandra has opinions. Jane has opinions. Nobody is changing their mind. Probably. Welcome to The Sage Stage — where two Gen X women are figuring out what the hell comes next and refusing to quietly disappear just because we've hit a certain number. Finish it in one sentence: “A woman should never have to explain why she…” We want to hear yours. #TheSageStage #WomenOver50 #MidlifeWomen #Menopause #SexAfter50 #WomenAndAging #GenXWomen #Midlife #PersonalGrowth #SelfWorth #ConfidenceOver50 #LifeAfter50 #WomensPodcast #MidlifePodcast #WomenSupportingWomen

Why We Resist the Things We KNOW Are Good for Us 😂 | Weekly Win

The Weekly Win: Don't Should All Over Me! 😂 Sometimes your Weekly Win is surviving a three-day rave. Sometimes it's starting a creative project before the last possible second. And sometimes it's realizing that the things that used to completely derail you... don't anymore. This week on The Sage Stage Weekly Win, we're talking about healthy habits, procrastination, creativity, midlife change, and the strange things our brains do when someone tells us we "should" do something. Chandra's Weekly Win? She's already started working on a play for her upcoming Theatre Orangeville production—months earlier than she normally would. She's researching, writing, thinking ahead, and generally freaking herself out by being... prepared. 😂 Jane's win involves dancing until 4 or 5 in the morning at a rave, because apparently midlife does not mean we're giving up the dance floor. We're also talking about starting new healthy habits, trying Pilates, taking a ten-minute walk, reading The Artist's Way, and why September can feel much more like a fresh start than January. And then there's the word: SHOULD. Because apparently telling yourself you should do something can be enough to make your brain respond: "F**k that." 😂 This week we're asking whether we can change those patterns, build healthier habits, and make progress without turning our lives into a giant list of things we're supposed to do. In this Weekly Win: ✨ Starting creative work earlier instead of procrastinating✨ Building healthier habits in midlife✨ Trying Pilates and getting more movement into everyday life✨ Why tiny habits can still make a difference✨ Understanding our resistance to the word "should"✨ Starting fresh in September✨ Creativity, The Artist's Way, and getting your brain moving✨ Celebrating progress that isn't dramatic✨ Looking back at how far we've come in almost a year✨ And, naturally, dancing until the middle of the night We're not reinventing ourselves overnight. We're figuring it out. One tiny win at a time. She Reached the Top of the Corporate Ladder… and Didn't Want to Be There

We have a guest!!! 🎉 The Sage Stage has officially entered the big leagues. 😂 And our very first guest is Sarah Kinlin — professional speaker, author, leadership nerd, mom, and someone who knows a thing or two about making a massive career pivot. Sarah spent years climbing the corporate ladder until she reached the point where she realized… She didn't actually want to be at the top. So she did something about it. She started before she was ready. In this episode, we talk about what it really takes to change direction in midlife — the fear, the excitement, the uncertainty, the confidence, and the occasional “what the hell am I doing?” moments that come with building a life that actually fits who you are now. Sarah shares her philosophy of grit, grace and goals, how she learned to stop measuring her body by a number on a scale, why she lifts heavy weights, how she stays grounded when life gets overwhelming, and what she's learned about leading while juggling work, family, community and a whole lot of dreams. We also talk about the GLOW Collective, finding your people, authenticity, dealing with trolls, parenting, dreams, sleep, and why sometimes you don't need to feel ready. You just need to start. Plus, Sarah pulls an Oracle card for us — and the message could not have been more perfect: You are enough. If you've ever wondered whether it's too late to change direction, reinvent yourself, start something new or finally become the person you've been trying to give yourself permission to be… Come sit with us. This is The Sage Stage. Two women. One very big pivot. And now… guests. 😂 #TheSageStage #MidlifeWomen #WomenOver50 #MidlifePivot #CareerPivot #CareerChange #WomenSupportingWomen #PersonalGrowth #GritAndGrace #AuthenticLiving #GenXWomen #LifeAfter50 #WomensPodcast #MidlifePodcast

We're Never Ready. JUST DO IT. | The Weekly Win

We had our FIRST GUEST on The Sage Stage! 🎉 And naturally, two days before recording, Jane sent Chandra a message saying, "I don't think we should do this. I don't think we're ready." Sound familiar? Apparently, this is becoming a tradition. Every time The Sage Stage reaches a major milestone, one of us gets nervous and announces that we're absolutely, positively NOT READY. And the other one says: "We're never f*****g ready. Just do it." 😂 This week we're celebrating our first guest, our 50th episode, our upcoming workshop, an updated events calendar, and the realization that the first 50 episodes were basically one giant exercise in figuring shit out as we went. We're also talking about some very real personal wins. Jane is navigating the emotional roller coaster of having one son return home after a year and a half, another head off to Germany for a work program, and spending the wee hours painting her daughter's new apartment. And Chandra has perhaps one of her biggest midlife wins yet: She said NO to her kid. Not a vague, guilt-filled, "maybe I can't." An actual NO. And survived it. Because learning to set boundaries with adult children can be HARD—even when you know the boundary is healthy. In this Weekly Win: ✨ Our first podcast guest✨ Reaching 50 episodes✨ Why we're never as ready as we think we need to be✨ Starting before everything is perfect✨ Setting boundaries with adult children✨ Learning to say no without destroying the relationship✨ Parenting through major life transitions✨ Celebrating kids coming home—and launching into the world✨ Growing The Sage Stage beyond the podcast✨ Our upcoming workshop and events✨ Why the next 49 episodes could change everything The biggest takeaway? Get in the arena. You're going to make mistakes. You're going to feel unprepared. You're going to wonder what the hell you're doing. Do it anyway. What's YOUR Weekly Win? Tell us what moved the needle this week. We Had NO Boundaries. Here's What Finally Changed.

How much of your life did you spend being “nice” when what you really needed was a f*****g boundary? This week, we’re talking about the boundaries we wish we'd set years earlier — and the uncomfortable realization that sometimes “nurturing” can turn into letting people take advantage of you. We talk people-pleasing, self-worth, learning to walk away, rage bait, being called toxic for protecting your energy, failure, trauma, creativity, astrology, and the strange process of becoming the person you probably should have been giving yourself permission to be all along. We also get very honest about the things we used to tolerate in relationships, why we sometimes couldn't let an argument go, and how liberating it can be to finally say: We're not doing this anymore. Plus, we talk about what happens when you stop trying to be perfect and start doing the thing anyway — even when you're terrified you'll fail. Because here's the truth we've learned: You don't have to be fearless. You just have to keep going. Welcome to The Sage Stage — two women in midlife talking about the messy, hilarious, occasionally profound business of figuring out what comes next. And yes… we're still figuring it out. Finish it in one sentence:“A boundary I wish I had set years earlier was…” What's yours? #TheSageStage #MidlifeWomen #WomenOver50 #Boundaries #PeoplePleasing #SelfWorth #PersonalGrowth #GenXWomen #Midlife #LifeAfter50 #WomenSupportingWomen #MidlifePodcast

We're More Better Grown Ups Now😜

The Weekly Win: We're Becoming More Better Grown Ups 😂 What counts as a win? Throwing an epic surprise 60th birthday party without putting the whole thing on a credit card? WIN. Hosting a dinner party without going into panic stations? WIN. Sending your grown child off on a four-month adventure in Europe and resisting the urge to completely lose your shit when his flight gets diverted? HUGE WIN. This week on The Sage Stage Weekly Win, we're celebrating the little victories that show us we're actually changing—even when we're still figuring out what the hell we're doing. Chandra successfully surprised Rich for his 60th birthday, threw an amazing party, AND managed to pay for it without going into debt. Meanwhile, Jane hosted a dinner party, watched her son head off to Germany for a four-month work term, and somehow kept the Mama Bear panic mostly under control when his flight was unexpectedly diverted to Ireland. Because sometimes personal growth looks like meditation and journaling. And sometimes it looks like saying, "Okay. He's got this. I'm not going to spiral." We also talk about money, growing up, parenting adult children, letting go, celebrating milestones, and recognizing that we're becoming just a little bit more responsible. Or, as we put it: We're more better grown ups now. 😂 Your win doesn't have to be enormous. Sometimes it's simply realizing that the person you were a year ago might have handled the exact same situation very differently. That's progress. That's the needle moving. And that's worth celebrating. What's YOUR Weekly Win? Tell us in the comments, because we genuinely want to know. #WeeklyWin #TheSageStage #WomenOver50 #MidlifeReinvention #Midlife #PersonalGrowth #AdultChildren #EmptyNest #ParentingAdultChildren #FinancialFreedom #SmallWins #CelebrateYourWins #ProgressNotPerfection #LifeAfter50 #WomenSupportingWomen #MidlifeJourney #WomensPodcast
