Why Jesus Is the Greatest Friend You'll Ever Have | 1 John 2

What if the greatest friend you'll ever have is the One who knows every sin, every failure, and every weakness—and still stands for you? In 1 John 2:1–2, Scripture reveals an incredible truth: Jesus Christ is our Advocate with the Father. When we fall short, struggle with sin, or face accusations from the enemy, we have someone standing on our behalf. His name is Jesus. And He is for you. In this powerful sermon from Mercy Movement Church, we continue our study through 1 John and discover what it means that Jesus is our Advocate, our Intercessor, our atoning sacrifice, and the greatest friend we will ever have. Too often, we view God as someone waiting for us to fail. We struggle with guilt, shame, condemnation, and the fear that our mistakes have separated us from His love. But Romans 8 reminds us: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" — Romans 8:31 Jesus didn't come to deny our sin or pretend it doesn't exist. He came to pay the price for it. Through His death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus accomplished what we could never accomplish on our own. He became our Great High Priest, fulfilled the sacrifice for sin, and now intercedes for us before the Father. He doesn't simply defend us. He redeemed us. What it means that Jesus is our Advocate in 1 John 2 Why Jesus is the greatest friend you'll ever have How growing closer to God helps us overcome sin Why understanding God's glory changes our understanding of sin How Jesus intercedes for believers according to Romans 8 Why Satan is called the accuser of the brethren What it means that Jesus is the propitiation for our sins How Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament sacrifices and the mercy seat Why we can approach God's throne with confidence How the Holy Spirit helps us walk in truth and righteousness Maybe you've struggled with guilt over your past. Maybe someone you trusted has failed you. Or maybe you've spent your life trying to be good enough to earn God's approval. But you cannot earn what Jesus has already paid for. Romans 3 reminds us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Yet through faith in Jesus Christ, we are justified freely by His grace. The enemy may accuse you, but Jesus has already paid your debt. People may fail you, but Jesus remains faithful. Because of His finished work on the cross, we can come boldly before the throne of grace, confess our sins, receive forgiveness, and walk in genuine fellowship with God. You'll never have a better friend than Jesus. 1 John 2:1–2 — Jesus Our AdvocateRomans 8:31–34 — God Is for UsRomans 3:21–26 — Justified by GraceHebrews 9 — The Mercy Seat and AtonementHebrews 4:14–16 — The Throne of GraceRevelation 12:10 — The Accuser If this message encouraged you, LIKE this video, SHARE it with someone who needs to know God is for them, and SUBSCRIBE to the Mercy Movement YouTube channel for weekly sermons and biblical encouragement. Walking In The Light | Michael Marler | Mercy Movement Church

“Walking in the Light”What does it really mean to walk in the light?Walking in the light doesn’t mean living a perfect life or pretending that we never struggle with sin. According to 1 John, it means knowing who God is, trusting His goodness, and being willing to bring what is hidden into His light. In this powerful message, “Walking in the Light,” we continue through 1 John and unpack one of the clearest teachings in Scripture about sin, repentance, confession, forgiveness, and what it means to truly walk with Jesus.John begins with a foundational truth:“God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” — 1 John 1:5If we don't understand the goodness and holiness of God, we'll never understand how to deal with the darkness within ourselves. But when we know God as a good Father, sin doesn't have to make us run away from Him.It can drive us toward Him.Like Jacob wrestling through the night, there are moments when following God requires us to hold on through the struggle. His Word may confront us. Repentance may hurt. God may expose things in us that need to change. But don't let go too soon. The same God who confronts our sin is the Father who loves us enough to transform us.The wounds of repentance can lead to the healing of revival. In this message, you'll discover:- What 1 John 1:5–10 means by “walking in the light”- Why God is light and there is no darkness in Him- How to respond when Scripture exposes sin in your life- Why confession and repentance are essential to following Jesus- The difference between conviction and running from God- Why God's discipline is evidence of His love for His children- How spiritual blindness can keep us from recognizing our own sin- What Jesus healing the blind man in John 9 teaches us about spiritual sight- Why self-righteousness can prevent us from seeing our need for Jesus- How the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin- Why Christians need one another to walk faithfully- How holding onto God's Word through painful seasons produces transformation- Why revival requires a willingness to repentThe world runs from the light because light exposes what darkness wants to keep hidden. But the children of God come into the light. We confess. We repent. We allow God's Word to challenge us.We let Him expose what needs to change. And we trust that He is faithful.“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9Maybe you've been wrestling with God. Maybe His Word has been confronting an area of your life. Maybe you've been walking through a painful season and you're tempted to pull away.Don't let go too soon.Cling to Jesus. Cling to His Word. Bring everything into the light and allow Him to transform you.You may walk away different—but you can walk away blessed.Key Scriptures1 John 1:5–10John 3:16–21John 9James 1:13–17Hebrews 10Hebrews 122 Corinthians 4:3–6Romans 9Genesis 32Stay Connected With Mercy MovementIf this sermon encouraged, challenged, or convicted you, LIKE this video, SUBSCRIBE to the Mercy Movement YouTube channel, and turn on notifications so you don't miss future messages.Share “Walking in the Light” with someone who may need encouragement to keep holding onto Jesus through a difficult season.Download the Mercy Movement App to watch messages, access resources, stay up to date on upcoming events, and remain connected to what's happening throughout the week.Follow Mercy Movement on all of our social platforms for sermon clips, biblical encouragement, church updates, worship moments, and more. Our prayer is that we would be a church that doesn't hide from the light but runs toward it—a people willing to repent, confess, be transformed, and walk together in the light of Jesus Christ.Don't run from the light. Logos of Life | Michael Marler | Mercy Movement

What if the life, joy, purpose, and fulfillment you’ve been searching for aren’t found in something—but in Someone? In this powerful message from 1 John 1, we go back to the foundation of our faith and the truth of who Jesus really is.John didn’t simply know about Jesus. He walked with Him. He heard Him. He saw Him. He touched Him. And John declares that Jesus is the **Word of Life**—the eternal Son of God who was there from the beginning, through whom all things were created, and who stepped into our world so that we could know God personally.Jesus isn’t simply another part of our lives. **Jesus is life.**Our world is overflowing with information, opinions, philosophies, distractions, and things promising to give us happiness and fulfillment. We can spend our entire lives learning, achieving, building families, pursuing success—even going to church—and still miss the One who matters most.Because Christianity isn’t ultimately about knowing more information about God.**It’s about knowing Him.**In this sermon, we explore:• What John means when he calls Jesus the “Word of Life”• Why Jesus existed before Bethlehem and was present from the beginning• What it means that Jesus is the full expression of God• Paul’s powerful message about the “unknown God” on Mars Hill in Acts 17• How idols distort our understanding of who God really is• Why our culture’s endless pursuit of information can never replace fellowship with Christ• The difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Jesus• How believers can experience real fellowship and communion with God• Why true joy, purpose, salvation, and eternal life are ultimately found in a PersonThe same fellowship with Jesus that John experienced is the fellowship we are invited into today. There is a seat at the table. It has been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. And you were invited.**Salvation is not simply an event that happened in your past. Salvation is a Person.****Do you know Him?**📖 KEY SCRIPTURES1 John 1:1–4John 1:1–14John 14:6John 17:3Colossians 1:13–20Hebrews 1Acts 171 Corinthians 10–11If this message encouraged you or helped you see Jesus more clearly, **LIKE this video and SHARE it with someone who needs to hear it.**🔔 **SUBSCRIBE to the Mercy Movement YouTube channel** and turn on notifications so you don’t miss new sermons, worship, testimonies, and messages each week.📲 **DOWNLOAD THE MERCY MOVEMENT APP** to stay connected throughout the week and access messages, resources, upcoming events, and everything happening at Mercy.📱 **FOLLOW MERCY MOVEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA** for sermon clips, encouragement, church updates, events, and more ways to stay connected throughout the week. Our prayer is bigger than simply learning more about God.We want to **know Him.**To hear Him.To walk with Him.To fellowship with Him.And to experience the fullness of joy that can only be found in Jesus.**Jesus is not simply part of life.
