    This episode of The Murder Mind: In the News is the recording of my LIVE YouTube episode, in which I break down the latest developments in the case involving recording artist David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4VD, and the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. I start with the latest court hearing from Monday, August 31, 2026, where Burke again pleaded not guilty to all charges. I also discuss the major development involving his defense team, including Blair Berk, withdrawing from the case and the appointment of the Public Defender's Office. Then I walk through the timeline, examine key pieces of reported evidence, discuss questions surrounding the investigation and prosecution, and take a closer look at what could come next in the case. And, as always, I take questions from The Murder Mind channel members. Important: David Anthony Burke is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.     Fourteen-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez disappeared in 2025. Months later, her remains were discovered inside two bags in the front trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to platinum-selling singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. Burke has since been charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, continuous sexual abuse of a child under fourteen, and mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty. Now, after a five-day preliminary hearing, a judge has ruled that the case can proceed to trial. In this episode of The Murder Mind: In the News, retired Atlanta homicide detective Vince Velazquez examines what prosecutors presented in court — including DNA evidence, vehicle GPS records, alleged purchase records, physical evidence and thousands of messages — and what each piece does and does not establish. Vince also examines the defense's emerging challenges involving evidence handling, the uncertain time of death and the context surrounding communications between Burke and Celeste. Most importantly, he explains a distinction that can disappear in the headlines: Being ordered to stand trial is not the same as being found guilty.     Robert Francis Garrow was a violent predator long before four college-age friends encountered him at a campsite in New York's Adirondack Mountains in the summer of 1973. After Garrow fatally stabbed 18-year-old Phil Domblewski, three surviving campers escaped and helped authorities identify their attacker. What followed was one of New York's biggest manhunts. But when police finally captured Garrow alive, the story became even more disturbing. While meeting privately with his defense attorneys, Garrow confessed to other killings and revealed the locations of missing victims Alicia Hauck and Susan Petz. His attorneys followed his directions, found human remains and took photographs. Then they kept what they knew confidential. In this episode of The Murder Mind: Crime Traveler, retired Atlanta homicide detective Vince Velazquez examines Garrow's crimes, the warning signs that were missed, the Adirondack manhunt, the controversial "Buried Bodies" legal case, and the ethical collision between attorney-client privilege and families desperate to know what happened to their missing loved ones. Vince also examines another extraordinary chapter in Garrow's story: after convincing authorities he was severely disabled and using a wheelchair in prison, Garrow stood up, escaped and triggered one final manhunt.     On Holy Saturday in 1980, 71-year-old Sister Margaret Ann Pahl was found murdered inside a chapel area at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She had been strangled and stabbed 31 times. Her body was partially covered by an altar cloth, and several wounds on her chest were widely described as forming an inverted cross. Among the people investigators questioned was the hospital chaplain, Father Gerald Robinson. Police discovered a sword-shaped letter opener in his possession, but the forensic tools available in 1980 could only take investigators so far. The case remained unsolved for more than two decades. Then investigators went back to the evidence. In this episode of The Murder Mind: Crime Traveler, retired Atlanta homicide detective Vince Velazquez examines the murder of Sister Margaret Ann Pahl, the investigation of Gerald Robinson, the forensic evidence that helped prosecutors finally bring the case to trial, and the myths that grew around the murder during the years it remained unsolved. Robinson was convicted of murder in 2006 and sentenced to 15 years to life. He maintained his innocence until his death in prison in 2014. Vince also asks how this same murder would be investigated if it happened today — using modern forensic science, digital evidence, 3-D crime-scene mapping and investigative techniques unavailable to detectives in 1980. It's a case about murder, faith, forensic science and an uncomfortable lesson for investigators: Sometimes old evidence is still waiting to speak.
