RECLAIMING BELONGING: Feminist Spaces, Policy & Collective Power

RECLAIMING BELONGING: Feminist Spaces, Policy & Collective Power What happens when women move beyond competition and begin creating spaces rooted in solidarity, care and collective power? This special episode of SHIFT Z – Belonging for Sustainable Transformation was created as part of the RECLAIM: Beyond Competition – Women Shaping Tomorrow’s Europe programe at European Academy Berlin. In this episode, Bengisu Berispek, founder of Sustain.ALL and SHIFT Z, reflects on belonging not simply as a feeling, but as something shaped by space, policy, representation and power. Drawing from her experience within RECLAIM, she shares a personal story of navigating spaces as a woman and explores how individual experiences connect to wider structural questions: Who is given space? Whose voice is heard? Who holds power? And what needs to change for women not only to participate, but to shape the systems they are part of? The conversation explores feminist policymaking, embodied leadership, vulnerability, representation and the importance of creating environments where women can feel safe enough to speak openly, support one another and exercise collective agency. At its heart is a shift from competition to solidarity, from representation to participation, and from individual empowerment to collective power. Featuring: Magdalena Weißing — Project Manager at the European Academy Berlin (EAB), working at the intersection of European dialogue, education and international exchange. Veronika Šprincová — Gender Expert, Analyst and Lecturer at Forum 50 % in the Czech Republic. She represents Forum 50 % in the governmental advisory Committee for the Institutional Safeguarding of Equality of Women and Men and has extensive experience in gender studies, political representation and gender equality. Romy Völker — contributing to the conversation on women’s empowerment, belonging, collective agency and the creation of more inclusive spaces. Bengisu Berispek — sustainability leader, scientist and founder of Sustain.ALL and SHIFT Z, working across sustainability, systems transformation, education, culture and community-building. The episode also asks how feminist and care-centred approaches can move beyond temporary safe spaces and become embedded within our universities, organisations and political institutions — without losing the relational qualities that make them transformative. Your voice. Your space. Your power. Because belonging is not only about being welcomed into existing structures. It is also about having the collective power to reshape them. 🎙️ SHIFT Z by Sustain.ALLSpecial episode: RECLAIMING BELONGING: Feminist Spaces, Policy & Collective PowerPart of RECLAIM: Beyond Competition – Women Shaping Tomorrow’s Europe https://www.eab-berlin.eu/reclaim-together-we-rise-from-female-competition-to-a-european-community-2/ #SHIFTZ #SustainALL #RECLAIM #ReclaimingBelonging #BeyondCompetition #FeministLeadership #CollectivePower #FeministPolicy #WomenEmpowerment #Belonging #WomenShapingEurope #CollectiveCare #SocialTransformation
